However, there was a period when I did have a pretty decent job at one of the country's biggest museums and they did not provide benefits like healthcare. The system is completely fucked up.

However, there was a period when I did have a pretty decent job at one of the country's biggest museums and they did not provide benefits like healthcare. FYI, even basic healthcare is surprisingly expensive. I was able to afford it, but there are plenty of people who work very hard who are unable to afford to buy their own insurance. The system is completely fucked up.

@MulligansValley First of all since when has Amtrak been hugely successful? The point I was making to someone is that there are different forms of Socialism in this country and it has exsisted before Barack Obama was even born, whether they are successful or not!

The republicans are not "evil" people, heck they are our parents and grandparents for Christ sake! I love my father but I don't agree with his politics. These are misinformed people guided by fear and hate. At the root of it is a president they cannot stand by because of his skin color. If they don't lighten up on the crazy people stuff their party will only get smaller as the country gets more diverse.

Funny that Republicans in Congress don't want government run healthcare, but they already have it. The plans in Congress are run by the government. Then people like Glenn Beck say it's socialism. We have had socialism in this country for years: Social Security, MediCare, public schools are all forms of socialism! Yet republicans send their children to public schools, use medicare, and cash those social security checks! What the people didn't want were that tax cuts for the rich, or wars, or BUSH
