Yes, a regular tennis racket (high tension stringing is recommend) is used. Any sandy areas near where you live, such as a lakeshore?

the cool thing about beach tennis is you can use any type of racket and ball you have, from tennis, racketball, paddleball, etc. Just find a sand volleyball court or play the sport anywhere. All you need is a net and open space. since you hit the ball in the air, you can practice anywhere.
