UK representing! Very nice, I'm going back into plyo training today so I'll use a few of these old gems. Keep up the hard work (The clip is old now but I guess you've kept it up? I hope!) Big props from Nottingham
Thanks! I never thought of doing triceps extensions like that! Consider that added to my bodyweight repertoire. I just tried them and they're not easy. If anyone finds it difficult to do them from the toes, try from the knees.
wow that was amazing! thank you so much for this video, i should have a 4 pack in no time :p and i liked that hand stand push up one... amazing! thanks egan!
@Bighin34 The so called obesity "epidemic" is based on the painfully outdated BMI index which doesn't take muscle mass into account which results in a lot of people being classified as "obese" when they are clearly not.
I bet the model in this video is probably "overweight" by BMI standards.
Whenever I do squats whether it is normal or one legged I always feel some pain in my knees, mostly in my right knee. Please if anyone else has the same problem or knows how to fix that, please reply. 0:47
Good job gubernatrix! You show good form and your vids show great creativity. I don't have a gym w/in 60 miles of me so my workouts occur in the kitchen and at the school playground. I'm always looking for new ways to use what I've got around me. You should also check out "urban exercise equipment" by demondrills on Youtube. Also very innovative. Keep posting!
I just started doing body weight exercises after Miles and miles on the treadmill and stepper and eliptical with no results. This is the trick. Keeps your heart rate up and burns tons of calories im less time. Awesome video!!!
this can be an answer to people who always find an excuse for not training like dont have time to train or cant afford gym membership or exercise is boring...well small place and a bit of effort can help you loose weight and be in shape
Although she trains a lot, she does not look weird like the girls with muscles look like, and then it also proves that the people who make excuses for exerscie really dont want to exerscise...
Great job! u have very good abilites and i like how u did all ur exercise with good form and simplicity, u would be perfect to progess to the spartan 300 training program if u wanted to push urself futher. Keep it up! u are a natrual
Hi, I was wondering if bodyweight workouts can build muscle or are they just for strength...if you know or know where to find out this please let me know :)
Well... That's complicated, but building muscle will build strength. And, eventually strength will lead to muscle growth. You can do just fine with bodyweight exercises.
I've had quite a lot of comments from people who found the ideas useful! Some of the exercises I demonstrate aren't even the full exercise (e.g. the handstand push-up). I would agree that these exercises might not be for people who are completely new to strength training. But for individuals who have been training for a while in the gym but are not sure how to train without machines etc, I think it's ideal.
If your clients can't do any of this then simply don't any of this with them. Hopefully your knowledgeable enough to have an expansive inventory of exercises to work from that will be appropriate for them. Although your attitude leads me to believe that maybe you aren't.
Generally speaking most of these exercises wouldn't be used for people being trained but for fit people who want to work out on their own without a gym.
The shortcoming of bodyweight exercises is that one's strength and hypertrophy gains quickly plateau as the rep range extends into the muscle endurance range. For people therefore looking for muscular endurance all of these exercises are great. Unfortunately only hypertrophy assists weight loss and that happens when muscular failure is produced in the 8-12 rep range. Likewise to improve one's power from plyo the reps should be kept between 3-5 per set with a rest work rest interval of 1:4.
I agree, i always thought bodyweight And heavy weights was the best combo as opposed to just one or the other. Thanks alot for the vid, finally got a few new ideas to integrate into my back bridge, hindu & handstand pushups routine.
Great video! Obviously you are quite an athlete! I liked the music too. I was wondering, what about training frequency? Do you do fullbody workouts, and how many rest days do you place between each workout, if any?
I'm not a bodybuilder so all of my workouts use the whole body! I take a rest day when I feel I need it - usually one or two days a week. Mostly this falls after a heavy lifting day.
You're not a bodybuilder, but the irony in that is that you've built a very symetrical body by using bodyweight exercises. I must say, thank you very much for replying to my question concerning rest days. I like your answer. Great workout. I use them all in my workout, except for the pistols.
Bodyweight training yields superior results.
The only load bearing work anyone needs is front, overhead & Bulgarian squats for thrust and farmer carries for load stamina.
Isolation weightlifting that bodybuilders use works best for rehabbing or for weakling beginners.
Leave barbells to Olympic lifting.
