For all of you in here saying that Tropp and Conboy should be punished, both were. Both were suspended for the rest of the season by Rick Comley, MSU hockey's Head Coach. Conboy has since left school and is in talks with the Montreal Canadians about his future. Tropp is back in Juniors, but still enrolled in school and could be back next season.
It was a cheap shot, the two state players should be punished. But for all these Michigan fans acting like this is the first time someone's been unfairly hurt in sports, just tonight a Michigan basketball player blatantly elbowed an OSU player in the face during a free throw. This whole suspension thing is bull. I play hockey at a high level and happened to run across this. Many worse events have transpired in D1 college hockey without any punishment. To single out these two young men who are playing the emotional game it can be is rediculous. I feel for the two guys who can't play the rest of the season for doing something that most coaches not only are ok with, but support for emotion and morale sake.

I know that this kind of act is normal in hockey, but according to the NCAA rules, any kind of malicious act is not tolerated, and is grounds for suspension from the sport in which they play, and possibly even the institution in which they attend, depending on the school, and how they view the incident. Even though he got signed he probably will not even play for a while. Anyone who plays hockey knows you can't play hockey in college one day and the next be competitive in the NHL. The skill level is too big, and with the way these rules are called now, this moron will be our next indefinite suspension. I don't condone the actions of Conboy OR Tropp, but if you watch the later behind the play angle (there's another youtube vid that shows it a little more clearly), it almost looks like Tropp is trying to whack Conboy . Glad that both were suspended for the year, hope that makes other kids in college and younger think twice before jeopardizing any hockey future they may have. Conboy is a 4th rounder who will never see a minute of NHL ice, could have come back for two more years of development.

For all of you in here saying that Tropp and Conboy should be punished, both were. Both were suspended for the rest of the season by Rick Comley, MSU hockey's Head Coach. Conboy has since left school and is in talks with the Montreal Canadians about his future. Tropp is back in Juniors, but still enrolled in school and could be back next season.

But for all these Michigan fans acting like this is the first time someone's been unfairly hurt in sports, just tonight a Michigan basketball player blatantly elbowed an OSU player in the face during a free throw. I'm not a fan of either school but it's not difficult to recognize that Michigan State is on the rise and Wolverine fans are clinging to anything that makes them feel like they still are "the leaders and the best".

This whole suspension thing is bull. I play hockey at a high level and happened to run across this. Many worse events have transpired in D1 college hockey without any punishment. To single out these two young men who are playing the emotional game it can be is rediculous. I feel for the two guys who can't play the rest of the season for doing something that most coaches not only are ok with, but support for emotion and morale sake.

Ok. First of all, I know that alot of people don't seem to understand this, but these are college kids. I know that this kind of act is normal in hockey, but according to the NCAA rules, any kind of malicious act is not tolerated, and is grounds for suspension from the sport in which they play, and possibly even the institution in which they attend, depending on the school, and how they view the incident. The hit is pretty common in hockey, but to try to slash someont in the throat? not.
