i love this movie with a burning passion! i can watch it so many times in a row and never get tired of it<3 i love this movie<3 this movie makes me keep playing softball. yes it's not baseball but if it wasn't for these women then we probably wouldn't be able to play softball. i love this movie. i can never get enough of it! i love the movie and the members of the AAGPBL<3
Lol sort of. The point is America is made up of every nationality. So what they mean is if you were born in America but your lineage comes from Canada, Ireland, Italy, England, Russia, Africa (etc.) you are still an American. And there are people who come immigrate to America from wherever they came from first generation and legally became a citizen playing for the American team and taking part in the ideals, pursing the dream.
It has nothing to do with background, it has to do with lifestyle and spirit. And certainly like Popfan 93 says; dreams and ideals! You can, like me, be irish, canadian (Canada is located in America, by the way....) or swedish and still, thanks to friends and relatives in America, be in som ways "all american".
@Lusebusen Thanks for clearing that up dude. I do know Canada is in America, North America to be exact. The question was actually kinda a little sarcastic - based on that can you guess where I'm from?
I would have loved to live in this time period. I started playing baseball when I was in grade 2 after watching this movie I wanted to play so bad so my dad signed me up. I was number 8 my whole life because of Dottie It's been an inspiration my whole life.
If you notice the kid is not really there with the girls when they are changing, he is just spliced in, also Madonna and the girl next to her are also just spliced in.
I don't know what that kid is doing but get him away from the tape! stillwell! hahaha
then
Something important just happened. i was on the toilet reading my contract and it turns out i get a raise when we get to the world series so play hard, play smart, use your head! hahaha
I just finished watching this film. It's such a great movie. The ending always makes me cry. The bit after this song sometimes makes me cry. It's a shame for all those families to lose a husband/father during that war.
God I love this movie. I love baseball like you would not understand. I would play baseball but i cant witch really sucks. I am a softball player and we can take a man on anyday! This movie and the story behind it is inspirational.
My grandma was on the very first Rockford Peaches team when Women's Baseball originally started...she says it was annoying to play in those outfits because there was no real protection for when you slid into the plate, and a lot of the time you'd get bruises or "rug burns" from the sand.
@GlassTears8 OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS cool beans yeah I would imagine so they actually showed a girl with a huge bruise in the movie I could do nothing but cringe...but of course we know why they chose those fits MEN -_- lol
@GlassTears8 I was reading about Dorothy Kamenshek, the big rug burns were also referred to as "Strawberries" the girls on these teams played no matter what, even with severe injury...Now a days???
Batter up! Hear that call! The time has come for one and all To play ball. We come from cities near and far. We've got Canadians, Irishmen and Swedes, We're all for one, we're one for all We're All-Americans! Each girl stands, her head so proudly high, Her motto 'Do or Die.' She's not the one to use or need an alibi. Our chaperones are not too soft, They're not too tough, Our managers are on the ball. We've got a president who really knows his stuff,
A few years ago I was at a baseball card show in Chicago. There was a booth with some of the original players from the AAGPBL. One of them was Levon "Pepper" Paire Davis, the woman who co-wrote the league anthem. I asked her if she wouldn't mind singing a small snippet from the song. She organized ALL OF THEM (6) and sang the whole song. I was lucky enough to bring my video camera with me that day and recorded the entire song. It's become one of my prized possessions!
I love that song. I t reminds me of when I was a kid :D My sister was soooo good at hockey and I was okay I would always be told to play like her. She was so good and I thought I would never be able to, now apparently she gets compared to me. This movie always reminds me of my love for sister, I would go back to being told every game to play like her if we would play together again. Thanks for posting this, second best movie in the world (Sound of Music #1)
aww everytime i hear this song it gets stucks in my head but i love the beat it has slow motion beat at the end where kit and dottie are reunited makes me wonder if that can happen to me and my sister scense we play softball :D
Each girl stand with her head so proudly high her modo do or die ... lol i love this song ... yea im silly but its prettygood and omg this movie lovely. <3
Favorite movie of all times. This movie inspires me. :)

No, not really since sarcasm exists in several countries. And I´m not a dude. But maybe that label was intended as sarcasm too.

this is the first part of the lyrics-
Batter all, hear that call. The time has come for one and all...To play ball.
We're the members of the All American League.
We come from cities near and far.
We've got Canadians,Irish ones and Sweeds.
We're all for one, we're one for all, we're all American.
DuCaineFan 4 years ago
this is the second part of the lyrics-
Each girl stands, her head so proudly high.
Her motto"Do or Die".
She's not the one to use or need an alibi.
Our chaperones are not too soft, they're not too tough.
Our managers are on the ball.
We've got a president who really knows his stuff.
We're all for one,we're one for all,we're all American.
