This is what probably happened: he's shot by the cop and shot back in self defense, initially, and then completely lost it. I mean - who ELSE shot the cop? Which is not to say that the guy got a fair trial or should be executed, or that he wasn't provoked - but it seems pretty clear he killed the guy, and it defies reason to presume otherwise: it was his gun, his bullets, his holster was empty. This is no martyr.
There were 4 independent witnesses who saw Mumia kill Faulkner, 2 of whom saw him give the coup-de-gras shot, no evidence of witness intimidation - Mumia has top counsel who never said this, his lawyers have never even CLAIMED evidence withheld, the jury had 3 blacks - and was picked by Mumia himself. The gun used to kill Faulkner was lying next to Mumia. There was powder residue on his jacket. What the hell more do you need?! MUMIA IS GUILTY AS SIN - WAKE UP.
they framed mumia just like the so called "justice" system has framed thousands of others politically astute, articulate, intelligent anti government critics and activists. This was done to silence the voice of a powerful political dissident. THis was done in an attempt to mussle the voice of a black intellectual who has the power and will to properly EDUCATE the public by exposing what the corporate controlled media and miseducation system will not expose
I don't think the author in question (and that delineation is highly questionable) is not as much a journalist as he is an opportunist. He just picked the wrong opportunity to ply his trade. Journalism is not art. It's stating the facts. It is not supposed to be an editorial. I hope he donates his meager proceeds to the widow of officer Faulkner. Maybe that would give this "author" some credibility. It's the least he could do for his poor choice in defending the slimebag.
Wait, the bullets from Mumia's gun were pulled from Danny Faulkner, that's a fact. Both sides had experts who came to that conclusion, so yes his gun was used. Again, his gun was found right next to him with spent chambers and his bullets were found at the crime scene. And what would a resedue test on Faulkner prove?
the bullet is Faulkner's head was recovered but the "particular traits" were too damaged, and the general traits, at best, could only tie that bullet to "multiples of millions of guns", according to police ballistician Anthony Paul.
no "smell" or "wipe" tests were officially done on either Mumia or Faulkner's hands and gun. VERY SUSPICIOUS.
A residue test on Faulkner would show whether or not he shot a gun...
Officially the bullet in Mumia had its "particular traits" tied to Faulkner's gun
smell tests are not reliable and would have never held up. a wipe test wouldn't have done anything because of the srtuggle Mumia put while being arrested.
Who cares about whether it was Mumia's gun that killed Faulkner or not??? Here's the question for anyone with half a brain: Do you think Faulkner shot Mumia after being shot in the fuckin' head? OF COURSE NOT! Now, if he didn't, then even if Mumia shot Faulkner, it was in self defence AFTER having been shot by that fuckin' pig! If a cop shot me in the gut, you can bet your ass I'd smoke that motherfucker too! If you think otherwise, you're a complete fuckin' IDIOT!!!
BS an affidavit may be evidence but these are not "Proof". You must understand the difference between evidence and proof. You are willing to accept as truth affidavits from Cook, Jones, MAJ, A.Bev, FBI informant and others when they were made 18 - 20 years after the trial of MAJ but you discount the testimony of persons who waited 2 - 3 months to report a confession. One of the reporters of the confession made a report the following morning at the hosp. to her superior. What about the gun?
BigS, reading an "affidavit" written by either the convict or his brother which has not in anyway been sustantiated does not prove anything. Look at the affidavits and you have got to see that they are mutually exclusive. A.Bev says that the "other guy" was up the street near Camac to make the "hit" not in the car with Billy Cook. Billy Cook says that he was in the car looking in the back seat, MAJ says Billy was in the street "staggering and dizzy". Right!
it is as simple as this, if you actually did know this man as a person you would see that he is a clever, inspirational, thoughtful, non violent person.
Handle that truth then. If you think he is guilty, then you know nothing about this man as a person. I have his book and i HAVE read it from cover to cover. Seems to me you know nothing about him as a person
33. I never said I hoped he died. I would never say something like that.
I declare under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States that the above is true and correct and was executed by me on 3 May, 2001, at Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
5. I did not testify in the post-conviction proceedings in 1995 on the advice of my attorney, Leonard Weinglass, who specifically told me not to testify.
6. Now for the first time I have been given an opportunity to tell what happened to me in the early morning hours of December 9, 1981. This is what happened:
7. As a cabbie I often chose 13th and Locust Street because it was a popular club area with a lot of foot traffic.
3. At my trial I was denied the right to defend myself, I had no confidence in my court-appointed attorney, who never even asked me what happened the night I was shot and the police officer was killed, and I was excluded from at least half the trial.
4. Since I was denied all my rights at my trial I did not testify. I would not be used to make it look like I had a fair trial.
BS Freeman admitted nothing, he died in 1985 it is all inuendo that he was supposed to be the one with A Bev in the "hit". I know that it may be difficult to admit to yourself, but all courts, juries, judges and jurist have found that MAJ was guilty of the murder of Daniel Faulkner. There was no conspiracy to frame MAJ; the pictures by Pablo do not prove anything; MAJ has put on evidence which clearly contradict other evidence put on during the same hearing. MAJ does not claim A.Bev's statement.
BS you really should read more than the posting from other MAJ supporters before you post such b.s. The only time that MAJ said anything close to a claim of innocence was during the penalty phase of his '82 trial when he stated "I am innocent of these charges that I have been charged of and convicted of" but since this was the penalty phase and not the guilt/innocence phase he was not cross-examined on this point in that he was already convicted.
If you think that, then what happened to the 5 bullets from the crime scene? How can a court convict mumia when they have no substantial evidence to convict him with
Your ad hominem attack on my IQ is not necessary for a discussion of this case. One of the bullets was found in the brain of D. Faulkner, others were found in the door and entryway of the building behind where the officer was shot. Since he was convicted you cannot be correct that there was not substantial evidence with which to convict. You were not a juror therefore you did not hear nor see all of the evidence produced at the trial. Why was MAJ's pistol out of holster with 5 spent shells?
Yes BS Amelia Earhart could be alive, no one has confirmed her death. C.W. was confirmed dead by N.J. police and the FBI in court subject to cross exam by maj's attorneys, this might not be enough for mumia supporters but it plenty for everyone else. MAJ has never denied killing DF in court, subject to cross exam only on a video which does not come anywhere close to being anything other than self-serving. You wasted your money on the book.
Cherry100x-- Yes, I agree that the mainstream media ignoring this book is a real scandal, but it is the norm when it comes to news favorable to Mumia..

Mumia killed danny faulkner--anyone that thinks mumia is innocent should just read the facts---mumia has never said that he did not kill officer faulkner---what this guy is saying is lies
Hmmm... you didn't actually watch the video, did you? At the end of the video, I put a video clip from the HBO special on Mumia, where he explicitly states that he did not shoot Faulkner and that he is innocent... I put this in to counter the FRY MUMIA crowd's outright lies about Mumia never saying he was innocent... which is a LIE that you repeat here.
Why don't YOU study the case facts a little more (or maybe watch this video) before making the strong assertion that Mumia is guilty?
It seems that all you guys do is read, just reading without seeing, without feeling what is truly between the lines. You can't just depend on what's written 100%, any smart person would know that Mumia is innocent, because aside from all the reading, there are things which speak much louder. And this guy is not lying, he's saying what is true. You should check up on what your medias tell you, how can you think they didn't lie about Mumia, when they lied about the very war on Iraq?
If the people knew this was happening, they would know this case was a railroad and it is still being railroaded by all areas of this so-called democracy. Law enforcement set the railroad in motion, the district attorney, judges and lawyers reinforced it, and the news media by refusing to be objective are a part of this traversity of justice.
Mr. Bennett, When Maureen Faulkner and Smerchonish released their book, it received lots of news and press coverage. If the media is refusing to do there job and are not being objective, how are we supposed to arrive with the truth?
Mr. Bennett, this is a very good interview - local and main stream media outlets should be taken to task for the deliberate refusal to recognize both sides of this case.

28. Upon arrival I was thrown from the wagon to the ground and beaten.
29. I was beaten again at the doors of Jefferson.
30. Because of the blood in my lungs it was difficult to speak, and impossible to holler.
31. I never confessed to anything because I had nothing to confess to.
32. I never said I shot the policeman. I did not shoot the policeman.
thirdeye47 3 years ago
24. I believe he left and I slept. I don't remember the wagon moving for a while and when it did for sometime.
25. I awoke to hear the driver speaking over the radio about his prisoner.
26. I was informed by the anonymous crackle on the radio that I was en route to the police administration building a few blocks away.
27. Then, it sounded like "I.D.'d as M-1" came on the radio band telling the driver to go to Jefferson Hospital.
thirdeye47 3 years ago
20. They were hollering and cursing, grabbing and pulling on me. I felt faint finding it hard to talk.
21. As I looked through this cop crowd all around me, I saw my brother, blood running down his neck and a cop lying on his back on the pavement.
22. I was pulled to my feet and then rammed into a telephone pole beaten where I fell and thrown into a paddy wagon.
23. I think I slept until I heard the door open and a white cop in a white shirt came in cursing and hit me in the forehead.
thirdeye47 3 years ago
14. As I scanned I recognized my brother standing in the street staggering and dizzy.
15. I immediately exited the cab and ran to his scream.
16. As I came across the street I saw a uniformed cop turn toward me gun in hand, saw a flash and went down to my knees.
17. I closed my eyes and sat still trying to breath.
18. The next thing that I remember I felt myself being kicked, hit and being brought out of a stupor.
19. When I opened my eyes, I saw cops all around me.

9. I believe I had recently returned from dropping off a fare in West Philly.
10. I was filling out my log when I heard some shouting.
11. I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw a flashing dome light of a police cruiser. This wasn't unusual.
12. I continued to fill out my log/trip sheet when I heard what sounded like gun shots.
13. I looked again into my rear view mirror and saw people running up and down Locust.

I, MUMIA ABU-JAMAL, declare:
