I watched the part when he had to go after the 2nd person 10 times with 3 other people who had no idea what it was about (eliminate bias). She was not thrown to the ground. He was trying to apprehend the 2nd person while not letting the 1st one run (which the other ladies were trying to get her to do I might add.) You need to separate the politics from what happened.
the cop is too fat to chase a suspect , and to drag her out of the elevator like that is despicable , he was probably tripping over his fat . the 95 % of cowards kike that give the 5 percent of good cops a bad name
I think everyone needs to take in account what happened BEFORE video was shooting. There was quite a bit of obstruction going on in the video. I didn't vote for Walker, but I know what sensationalism looks like. Watch the video closely, the officer did not throw her to the ground. He was trying to apprehend a 2nd person while he had the first person by himself. Watch his body and the hand that was on the cuffs of the person he already had in custody.
@melvinjc Whether he threw her to the ground or he dragged her to the ground she ended up on the ground . I think he handled the situation and his conduct poorly . If he needed help he should of called for back up.
Loudmouth male protester: "What is she being arrested for?"
Ans: Obstruction ...
Notice the officer at that point was outnumbered 3 or 4 to 1, with another protester / "reporter" already occupying the elevator after being instructed "out".
This was not civil behavior on the part of the protesters or the so-called "press" in attendance there ...
@uploadJ You state the protesters weren't being civil. What about the police officers behavior ? Was it civil behavior of the police officer to throw that woman to the ground as he charged from the elevator and shoved a few people as he ran for the other woman ?? I don't think it was.
The actions of these officers are absolutely disgusting, but not surprising. Crap like this has been going on since the start. Unfortunately, it's also been going on throughout WI for YEARS...and the protests have brought it to light.
@melvinjc yes, I heard that as well, she was unable to furnish her papers...so she must not be authorized to exercise her rights...and she looks like a hippy too, so they can probably fine her for that....
Madison could use a little police state mentality right now. All of these entitled protesters obstructing the officers should be shackled and processed.
@Thatsrhomer Regardless of whether or not you agree with the protests the protesters do have a right to be there. And I think the last thing any freedom appreciating American should wish for is a police state.

She got arrested for filming? I'd say "unbelievable" but this is the Walker era. I'm sure a few of his cult of the personality will come come to defend these actions!
Dude, the other women is getting in the way of an arrest. Not advisable. Get some advice from ACLU. Big troopers harassing young women. tsk tsk tsk. Wonder if the BIG BOYS troopers will figure out what their really paid to do?
WTH ...Those police officers actions are disgusting !!! They don't want to be filmed because then you have a evidense that they're breaking the law. They seem to be on a power trip right along with Walker and the GOP's. They've been getting away with this kind of behavior for so long and haven't been held accountable that they think they can do anything. Someone needs to sue them and then they may think twice before acting like this again .
@itaytay77 From what I was told by a guy that was standing right there when she was first taken into custody he asked what she was being arrested for and the officer said because she was running away from him but that didn't happen. I also heard that she got a citation for around $200. Is it the first woman that's name is Alex. The second woman's name is Sam.
@BadgerGurl88 Thanks. The name of the first woman that got arrested is Alex, and she's a reporter from Vermont. The second woman is Sam and she's also from Vermont. Alex came in February when the protest started. She was supposed to stay in Madison only for a few days, but decided to stand with us and report about the protest during the whole occupation of the Capitol. I can't believe she got arrested.
@BadgerGurl88 Thanks for replying. Unfortunately I don't know if there's a way to change it. I would think so if you poke around a bit in a controls area but I'm new to this stuff as well. Hopefully someone else who knows can help. :-)
@terry2141859 Stupid cops are with the GOP (To stupid and pig brain washed). Smart police officers understand what's really going on. Git em sKEETer (stupid redneck piggy... grow some brains). This guy's idol is chief Wiggum from the Simpsons.
The State Police just made themselves and WI look pretty stupid. There was no danger with the girl with the camera so why did he fell the need to go after her like he did knocking all those other people around. There is plenty of police there. He could have called for help if it was that important. If I would have gotten knocked over I would be pissed. It would be like getting hit in your car by a cop chasing a speeder.
@msral1999 I'm not even sure to be honest with you. I really don't think she did anything I think just because she had her camera. It was just absolutely insane and appalling.
@snooks73 Good question. Me and the woman that had me start recording this went downstairs to Capitol police and when we were going to wait outside the door for them to come out a bunch of people came down that must have been up in the rotunda.
That cop should get a medal!
pansch1138 2 months ago
You filmed this, you can see the second woman (Sam Mayfield) physically interferring, pulling on her assistant. 0:18
That is interferring with an officer in the performance of their duties, it is sufficient cause to arrest her.
And then she tries to take the camera away from her assitant at 1:33 that is further cause to arrest her.
Ms. Mayfield was 100% in the wrong from start to finish.
The 1st ammendment protects NONE of those actions.
