It was just that the accuracy of bombing wasn't that precise, and as these are Germans and not idiots, they had prepared for bombings. Just look how those bunkers are made and you can see that they are made to sustain a bombardment.
I feel like, with showing the man screaming Mama with his guts next to him, and by showing all the blood washing up in the shore, we as the viewers can truly picture what it was like for those men. Many war movies do not justify the true horrors of war, this one does by far. Steven Spielberg does it once again.
@MissKSE games can offer rich emotional experiences too. Portrayed correctly the horror of war would have a lot more impact in an interactive scenario rather than passively watching a film, questioning your own morality to the acts people had to commit. There are plenty of movies that glorify war too, so of course games will too. Video games are still maturing, give them time.

@UphyXx uhh not trying to take sides but the black hand was the cause of the first world war, if they hadn't assassinated Archduke Ferdinand Austria-Hungary wouldn't of had to issue the ultimatum and declare war on serbia which brought Russia into that war which resulted in Germany declaring war on Russia and France. France hadn't done anything and was innocent and yet Germany still declared war on it.

thats not ww2. thats ww1. germany declared war on france because russia was there ally and russia was aiding serbia. germany was allies with austria hungary. England was allies with Belgium which the germans attacked in the schliefen plan.

If you watch this, then suddenly you realise that being a soldier is not cool. It isn't like Call of Duty, it isn't like parading with your muscles in a cool uniform banging some hot chicks. It isn't like cool gymnastics, climbing ropes, running a few miles...

Yeah, because Saving Private Ryan didn't glorify war at all (not like all the guys driving the boats were mysteriously transformed into Americans and this movie totally ignored that Point du Hoc ever existed with all that artillery fire...). Quit your bitching, the only artistic media outside of literature that's accurately portrayed was was a video game anyway- and that's Brothers in Arms. This film was a long ways off from anything that really happened. This movie is way overrated.

Black soldiers were in segregated units. You have to remember that it was still the 1940's, and segregation had a strong hold in American society. There were some black soldiers in action that day, though, and they performed just as well as their white counterparts.
