  • Easily.. one of the best demos of a 6505+!!! Props to you man!!

  • Best combo - peavey and a les paul - my dick is hard

  • I think you just sold another 6505. I've been looking at demos, and as everyone mentions, they are all in drop tunings with chugga chugga riffs. Nothing against those, but I want something classic hard rock sounding. From Thin Lizzy to KISS to Aerosmith, even Foo Fighters. I know most people buy this amp for the blistering lead channel, but I think your "clean" channel on this video sounds AMAZING! Thanks for this demo!

  • @ricotinez No prob man! Thanks for the kind comments!

  • @ricotinez Pat in the Foo Fighters uses the 6505+ if you didin't know

  • @AssassinSteven Actually, that's what led me to start searching for them. I notice he takes the logos off, but you can still see the control panel. Thanks!

  • A les paul through any amp = the shit!!! my les paul is still one of the best guitars ever.

  • Great riffs! :) Like them a lot.

  • kudos to the riff bro, KISS is my all time fav band!! (:

  • Damn ! This amp is badass. I tried one at GCe. I had several amps and they are all crap. Peavey is underrated.

  • KISS!

  • Big city nights - Scorpions..very nice man!

  • Rush - Bastille Day 0:46 niicee

  • Thanks for posting a vid of this amp playing actually rock :) It's hard to find a vid that's not metal being played through these. In my opinion these are what these amps are made for. Kick ass rock and roll!

  • @BarrettJones1111 I hear ya man! Almost EVERYONE that uses a 5150/6505 plays metal. I agree that it's a killer metal amp, but I like hard rock stuff a million times more. :)

  • KISS!!! HELL YEAH!

  • Hi! Great playing! I want to buy this amp, can you compare the sound of both channel with a famous guitarist's sound? Unfortunately I can't listen directly to it, because it's not on sale in my city, so I can only appreciate youtube videos...In this video it seems it has a little bit "metallic" sound, and the endorsers of this amp are too heavy for me. I play from classic rockabilly tones to '80s metal like Dokken, as you did here ;) do you think it would be a good purchase for me? Thanks!!

  • @deepalcol Hey thanks! Yeah, these amps are best known for their metal tones, which is funny considering EVH helped design them. I'm not sure why he had so much preamp gain added to these amps, since he doesn't seem to use anywhere near the amount available.

These amps are fantastic for '80s rock tones like Van Halen, Skid Row, Dokken, etc... I can't think of anyone specific that has these same tones, but maybe someone like Warren DeMartini or George Lynch.

  • @SgtThump Thanks for replying so quickly! Fortunately I found a guitarist that uses this amp and I could prove it yesterday: I liked both channel very much, and the crunch too, but as I asked you before, the sound seemed to me really metallic. Now I only have to decide XD

  • SHE!

  • Screw that 6505+.... That Soldano rules all!

  • do you remember if you were on the rhythm channel or the lead channel with the gain set low?

  • @kupkup61 I use both channels. I describe it a little in the comments.

  • Nice Kiss riff, bro!

  • I am wondering if this 6505 can do a solo in they style of Skynryd/Outlaws..Southern rock type tones???

  • I should have been wiser to have even the slightest doubt that you would have anything less than an exquisite tone...especially with that soldano head lol. I have to ask though, What are your settings with the 6505+?

  • @dadudeguy2 Thanks! (I think - lol...) I honestly don't remember the settings on the 6505+. That's a fairly easy amp to dial in, though (in my opinion!)

  • @SgtThump I would agree with you but i've never gotten that amp to sound so full... great tone man.

  • Thank You for having the first 6505 demo with a guitar that is in STANDARD TUNING!!!!

  • @BigR6ch

    well said dude

  • @BigR6ch You are so right man. Well put.

  • Good sound, good playing. What are your amp settings. I have bought one and would like to try them..

  • @turboblues Hi. Thanks! This was quite a while ago and I don't remember the amp settings, to be honest. Not sure if I posted them in the description of this video or not. But if I didn't, I just don't remember exactly. Sorry!

  • Nice, very Led Zeppy ;)

  • Sounds great! Nice playing too, may the 70's and 80's live forever!

  • @banedm Thanks and rock on!

  • Seriously?!?!,

Thanks... I'm kinda going nowhere fasts. The projects I was in duded fast due to ego and creative conflict. The two guitars I hang with now are great players. They need a little help upping there gear and thier mobilty. Love your playing brother. PEACE!

  • You rock, now come laugh at my drum playing.

  • @ChadBurk4420 Dude, you're rocking those drums! If I could go back and start over, I'd play drums instead. I think they're the coolest instrument out there. Great playing!

  • Thank you for just re-affirming the idea that this head is great for classic hard rock, not just metal.

  • dude that shirt looks to hot !!!

  • omg lolz, i cant afford one amp head and you have 4 in this video

  • @TheMokomi300 I work hard for my money... :)

  • How does that Soldano sound?

  • big city! big city nights!

  • KISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :D i love 'She' :D. great video btw :)

  • Sounds awesome! Do you have any experience with the 6505+ combo?

  • how much did that guitar cost

  • is that riff from the start an actual song or did u just make it up?

  • @Doug1996104 That's the song "She" by Kiss. Killer riff, IMO!

  • @COLEMATSCHKETV i was just wondering if this one did it because my friends head had a speaker in it

  • @Trevorcjx thats a combo amp

  • YEAH THAT WAS SOME KICKASS RUSH!

  • Can i play the 6505+ without a cabinet? Like just the head itself until i'd be able to afford a cabinet after buying it?

  • @Trevorcjx lol, without a cab you haven't got any speakers. it takes both amp and speaker to create sound. so the answer would be no. you could buy the combo, and then buy an extra cab later if the single speaker doesn't cut it.

  • @ogardsveien does that work with all combo amps?

  • @Trevorcjx no it doesn't, but it usually works with most high end tube amps. although you should make sure it works with the amp you're buying. my engl screamer combo has several cabinet inputs on the back of the amp. you can see from pictures if you can connect it to a cab.

  • @Trevorcjx The head is just power and a preamp to shape the tone. There are no speakers in the head, so you must have a cabinet to even hear the amp. Also, tube amps shouldn't be on (meaning, not on standby) without a speaker cabinet or another type of "load" connected to them.

So the answer is no. :)

  • @SgtThump oh well i've played a head that speakers n it so i was wondering if this one did

  • @Trevorcjx Absolutely NOT! You will do major damage to the head, the amp needs to have a load on it.Without speakers it would be damaged for sure...

  • love it!! I've got a tripple rec and am debating trading that thing in for a 6505+...you look a lot like Rob Arnold from Chimaira

  • Nice!!! Gonna check it out right now...Thinking of getting that Peavey in the 1x12 combo..any thoughts? : )

  • @GeddyLeesNoseHair Yeah, the Classic 30 is a very decent amp IMO. I'm not going to say it's the best sounding, but it's very capable, Made in the USA, and not too expensive!

  • RUSH DUDE!!!! YES!!!

  • @GeddyLeesNoseHair It's obvious you're a Rush fan! ha ha... I did more Rush riffage in a video I just uploaded the other day and this time it's with an ES-335!

  • 3:08 "Big city, big city nights, you keep me burnin'!" Fukken awesome tone, man!

  • Is it good for Hard rock and Classic rock?

  • hey does the 6505+ sound good at all volume levels?

  • In my opinion? Yes. Others will disagree (as usual.)

  • @jackman94

Just get a variac.... Eddie used one... it allows you to limit the voltage going into the amp so you can run the amp wide open but still at a low volume.

  • @SharkMan8324 how do you buy one?

  • well... that i'm not sure. I'm not sure of the manufacturers or how much they are. But they are relatively large pieces of equipment. So, I would assume somewhat expensive and challenging to find. I think they are out of the realm of radio shack, so I would just google it and see what happens.

  • how do i buy one and what are the brands?

  • big city nights, lol. nice=)

  • yes im gonna def do that asap i even considerd putting in burstbucker pickups that they put in the 59's but ive played with the stock ones for 3 years now from country classic bands to 80,s rock so i think im gonna wait till i get the fret dress dun and then see how i feel about it!

  • what model are you playing in this clip

  • This is the #1 guitar in the world... My R8.

  • your to good to be in your room posting videos! k i play in my room to and dont play with anyone rite now i work for myself and most of the time thats keepin me busy! i just want my frets lower and if they are lower that means my action ca be lower right?

  • If you have a tech dress your frets and make sure they're all level, you can get lower action without any buzzing. I recently had a great local tech do this work on my R8 and I'm amazed with the results.

I had some small "grooves" in the frets, which was my original reason for having a local tech fix me up. As a result of him leveling and dressing the frets, the action is lower and the guitar plays and sounds better than before (notes ring out clearly.) It was a great move!

  • what about a fret dressing ok i knw the truth i need to buy an r9 and be done with it!

  • Well yeah, that's what I meant (dressing.) That will reduce the height a little bit.

GET AN R9!!!!!!!!!! GET ONE!!!! :) I'd love to have one!

  • i play a les paul classic with the 60,s neck with the stock pickups but the frets on it seem really high on it so when im running down the fretboard its like going over big speed bumps any advice for this

  • Sounds like you just prefer smaller or "shorter" frets? The only things I can think of are getting it refretted OR have the frets leveled and crowned. That will take them down a little bit and is probably the cheapest best way to deal with it.

  • cool man im down in nashville you play with a band up there i assume

  • Yeah, but the status of the band is kind of up in the air at the moment. I have videos posted of my band(s) if you feel like checking them out. They're under this same YouTube account.

  • so where you from sgt thump??????????

  • I live near St. Louis, Missouri.

  • hey sgtthump im gonna now buy a 6505+ but could you tell me what your settings are the the only way im buying lol! i have the 59 les paul r9 and love it . i would just like to know the settings!

  • Well it really depends on the cab used, but in general, I set the preamp gain to around 11:00 - 12:00, the bass around 2:00, mids around, 11:00, treble at 11:00 - 12:00, presence at 11:00, and resonance at 2:00.

But those are just general settings. I'll change that all around depending on whether I'm playing with the band or at home, which speaker cab I'm using, which guitar, etc...

    It's a great amp!

  • I should point out that those settings are for the lead channel. The rhythm channel will be a little different. Usually higher lows.

  • Very cool demo man! I've owned a Peavey 5150ii (same EXACT amp as the 6505+ only with evh's endorsement) & its by far the best amp I've ever owned...especially if you want that "brown" sound. Check out my demos when you get a chance man. Also, love "she" at the beginning...I gotta record some Kiss tunes too. Rock on man!!

  • Thanks man!

  • That sound like Warren DEmartini !!!

  • she is my favorite kiss song

  • Gotta love the tribute to Rush you threw in there. The riff was very well done too. Also, I'm fairly new to playing the guitar (4 months under my belt thus far.) and am saving up to upgrade to a higher quality guitar maybe a year down the line. So do you mind if I ask how you like your Gibson LP?

  • Thanks! In my opinion, a nice Gibson Les Paul is IT. I'm a huge Les Paul fan. I'll take them over any other guitar available.

They have a very special tone that cannot be reproduced by other models. Seriously...

Now whether or not you'll like it is up to you. Some people think they're uncomfortable, hard to play, don't sound good, etc... But boy I sure do love them!

  • Yeah, I love the look of the Les Paul, and I love the sound, but I've yet to be able to get my hands on one to find out what I think. I understand what you mean by them having a special tone. Having listened to many guitarists play LPs, I have noticed that they have a sound all their own. Thanks for the quick reply btw.

  • "She walks by moonlight!"

I love it! That was the first riff I ever learned!

  • Man I miss my 6505+, I have a ton of "boutiqe" amps and an original 5150 (different beast though). This amp kicks some serious butt for a 1000.00 bucks new and they are as solid as a frieght train. They sound amazing with p90s by the way. What fralins are you using?

  • SHE WALKS BY MOONLIGHT ROCK ON BRO

  • Yay! Rush fan! Bastille Day Rocks!

  • nice, love the kiss opening

  • awesome. is the 6505 based on the soldano?

  • The story I've heard is that both the Peavey 5150 and the Mesa Recto designs are based on the SLO circuit. I have no idea how true that is, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Plus, I think EVH was playing a Soldano SLO right before he started working with Peavey on the 5150 amps. So it makes sense it's based on the SLO.

I just did another video comparing the SLO and Peavey. They sound different, but there are definitely similarities there.
