I agree. Gene really did give Ace his props in his book, and it's sad, really. Gene even admitted that Ace had probably the most cohesive album of all of the solos. Ace is creative as hell, but he just got way too into chemical dependency. He's just a natural musician.
WOW... electric arpegio, todo un viaje por el tiempo sin alcohol, sin drogas, como soy, siempre enfrentando los problemas sin evasión, de frente, aunque llore lágrimas de sangre, si tumban me vuelvo a levantar.
I loved early Kiss. Alive came out when I was in 4th grade and I bought (got for x-mas) every album after that, through Love Gun...then my musical tastes changed. Anyway, I never heard anything from the solo albums except radio play of Back in the New York Groove (I dug it at the time). Got to admit, I really don't like "Fractured Mirror". Good intro, but, as an entire arrangement, it sounds completely undeveloped.
There's no lyrics in this song, but Frehley still manages to give it emotion and almost like a story behind it. He might not be the BEST guitarist out there but he did inspire them. He's definitely my favorite guitarist
this song better be played at my funeral followed by Ozzy's "you cant kill rock n roll"-same two chords at the beginning-they fit together if you ask me
brings me back to 7th grade. an awful time when my parents divorced and my mom drove me from chicago to california to live with her mom. she got a bedroom. i got a couch.
that was a lonely time in my life and i was scared of a lot of stuff because my dad was abusive & i had lots of insecurity issues that other kids could obviously see. i moved back to be with my dad a few months later because i couldn't handle the violent school i went to. the Ace solo CD & KISS helped me thru those days.
Ace gave me a reason to live. I wanted to be Ace Frehley when I was a kid. I met him in 1998 and pissed myself laughing. He really is a funny guy. No attitude...not a rock star. Paul and Gene said he wasn't growing as a player and he was wasted on meth/speed. That's a management issue. Musically? Ace was respected by his peers...not his band.
This record was so ahead of its time when it was released in 1978. It was the most succesfull out of the 4. I think ACE had a good sence of direction the music should have went for KISS. No wonder he got mad and left the band......
@joostisabelle I so agree...but if you have heard KISS' first four albums they were a pretty kick ass rock n roll band...I think when ACE left they had no other choice than to turn to disco, because they would never be able to find the rock sound ace provided from anyone else...IN my opinion ACE was KISS listen to the fucking guitar!
Ace is why I play guitar today! He was and remains my greatest six string musical influence along with David Gilmour. This tune in particular speaks to me! He is a true musician and expanded all of our musical vocabulary. He opened our minds with his talented portrayal of the art he so passionately pushed out through his band. Without HE and Peter Chris they would have been little better than the WWE!
i remember these guys in the day, my first concert, my first high, damn good time! I'm sad to see where Gene and Paul are trying to take all the good memories and cheapen them for personal gain. Thanks Ace for blowing my mind, turning me on to guitar, and never sellin out! You are a Rock God!
I recall falling for this band and their music back in 1979, selling virtually everything I had to buy their albums, singles, posters e.t.c. Everything except the record player that is...
I lost my soul to these guys and don't regret a minute of it .
This particular track, is surely one of the space ace's finest offerings, truely a masterpiece.
Ace is/ has/ and will forever be the best guitar player in the intire universe this an Ace Frehley fan saying thank you Ace your my hero and will ever more be the best
@zevo66 i agree anomaly shows how good ace really is. great album. sonic boom sounds like they put tommy thayer and eric singer in a room and said try to sound and look like ace and peter. bad immitations.
ace frehley in my mind is the best and will always be the best guitarist i will ever have the privledge to ever see and hear a true artist performer and master of his craft!!!!
@cciemail Just looked at the head stock. You are right. Probably not a Gibson. I have seen the style before but cant place it. Lotus or maybe one of the Ibanez lawsuit guitars. They were so close to the real thing that Gibson filed a lawsuit to force them too stop. Will look around and try too find out.
Ace may have had some drinking problems, but he always new in his heart which direction the music should go. and when it didnt go the way he felt, that probably added to his drinking problems. Ya know. Your in a band that you love but musically is going in a direction you cant stand. what else could you do. drink yourself to death or quit the band. His solo album was the best of the four, so who do you think was right?
I have forgotten this piece of music.....its been years and years since I have heard it until afew nights ago...........brings back alot of memories, of being 14,15,16,17 loving Kiss and their music....best time of my life, happy memories and this is the best solo albums from Kiss.....Ace, I love your music and you being one of the creators of the best rock bands ever......there will NEVER be another KISS, not the one I remember and listened to when I was a teenager. I'm quite taken by how many teenage guys are into this album. Ace's 1978 masterpiece speaks to all ages of metal heads. As others have mentioned, the power chords on Fractured Mirror are spine chilling. I like Anomaly, but Ace's 1978 album is his metal triumph (in my humble opinion)
yea, u cant top this. ace was way ahead of his time with this. Timeless. I still remember hearing this for the first time in 78" and was just mezmoized by the sounds he put together.
I would have to say that Ace and Paul were much better as musicians and songwriters than Gene and Peter. Gene was more of a showman and a businessman; Peter was a competent drummer, but his personal problems kept dragging him down.
Fractured Mirror is a somewhat rare metal instrumental. Any Ace fan loves it of course. God, to see him perform this live! oh by the way he IS god! hehhehe
Dimebag does a great Fractured Mirror. Ace was the man.

I wish I could have seen the look on Genes face when he found out that "knucklehead" Ace had a better selling record than he did.

I think I once counted it...13 guitar overlays, plust bass and dums. Way ahead of it's time.

Ace has the best solo album out of KISS, Paul Stanley is the better songwriter, but Ace did the best

I would have to say that Ace and Paul were much better as musicians and songwriters than Gene and Peter. Gene was more of a showman and a businessman; Peter was a competent drummer, but his personal problems kept dragging him down.

Might have thumbs downed but didn't mean too this song is the epitimy of music. The mastery of the guitar is unreal

Fractured Mirror is a somewhat rare metal instrumental. Any Ace fan loves it of course. God, to see him perform this live! oh by the way he IS god! hehhehe
