  • i want to teach my poodle all of this! his name is alex, hes only a 10 months old puppy, hes knows how to sit, shake, lay down, up, and we are working on come and stay...its difficult to do that when we are at the farm...there are so many disstractions..does he know to much, to little? can i have some tips on training?

  • Be consistent and don't short the learning phase. Daily reps of exercises and clear marking of the right behaviors will help your dog learn the commands. There are several good books on training and I recommend using a marking system with luring positions early in the training process. When the dogs show a clear understanding of the commands we begin to work on a reward based system and begin to phase out the food and work with praise. Best of luck to you in training your dog!

  • thank you! i will try this! this is very helpful!!!!! thanks again!

  • Excellent! Be nice if my Mom's chichi/shi-tzu dog would do that when off lease outside. Damn spoiled dog.
