great video! the idea to make my own banjo has been brewing inside of me. just looking for the right starter pieces. I also don't have the tools (or space for tools) to do any advanced metal or wood working, but I'm hopeful something will present itself.
I'll definitely be coming back to your videos for inspiration when the time comes :)
Well, except for the welding (and I'm sure someone is smart enough to figure out another way of doing it), none of what I did required advanced anything. Couple of hand tools and you could do the same thing. I bet some tubes of JB Weld would replace the welder, too.
Started out learning to play clawhammer up in North Carolina. A friend was in an old time music band. When I moved to Georgia, the teacher I found was a three-finger bluegrass guy. Only had a couple of clawhammer lessons, but maybe I could remember enough to get back into it.
You've managed to make a banjo unlike anything I've ever seen, and it sounds honkin'.!. Gonna have to teach you how to play clawhammer so you can bang on that pot...
cool looking banjo

@bkbj95 Thanks. It was a fun project. Even more fun to play, which really surprised me.

A friend of mine wants me to make a banjo out of a Slant 6 Chrysler air cleaner. You know, I think it could work...

It's holding tune and it fun to play. Finally figured out that the dot on the neck for the 10th fret is on the 9th fret instead.
Had to laugh because there is no way this thing should have worked. Guess it really is better to be lucky than good.
