Cutting the Gst by 1% was worse than merely useless as BC just raised taxes 5%. So we went 1% back on GST and 5% forward on PST to make up for the shortfall from the FEDS. That's what I call worse than merely useless Harper accomplished zilch, except keep his promise on one side of his mouth knowing that cutback to the Provinces would cause the Provinces to make up for the cutback by increasing PST thereby placing the tax blame on others.
Thats why reductions in income tax is a better way to go, as per Dion. Consider the 2 cent reduction on the excise tax for diesel fuel promised by Harper. It seems that any benefit will be absorbed long before it gets to the consumer. Surely if anyone knows this fact of life Harper, who touts himself as an economist, does. The question then because what is the real purpose behind his announcement.
Tony Clement has a huge communications problem
On you tube he says "i believe in needle sharing " during his misspeak
lets give Harper a reason to put tony down for his lack of communications skills
