just find a different way to earn money their are multiple ways I believe I know gigs from the earlier games. I played gran turismo 4, and I found ways to earn money. Let me give you a tip: Just play until you hit the events where you can win a car then sell them for money. My strategy.

i did the honda integra challenge on the high speed ring and got the gold, drive hard and brake late,have no mods on the car, stick with it and you will do it!!
Wow, that challegne is very hard I got the silver in the C Class and I can't even get a Trophy in the B Class Challenge with the Honda Intengra! I need help please.
if you complete the game by scoring 3rd or better in all classes you get a quick tune menu which allowed me to lower the intergra and i also put the weight to max and the power to max, you have to put the weight up to give you enough quick tune points to max the power, this allowed me to get first place :)
just tune your car using the quick tune menu, there is lots of things you can do, stiffen the shocks, put the power up, RAISE the weight as its an oval acceleration is not an issue and more weight will give you more momentum when drafting, first place is easy when you do these things.
nb:- quick tune is avaliable when you complete the game by scoring 3rd or better in all classes
