does the compressor go good with distortion pedals?
CAN ANYONE HELP ME BY ANSWERING THIS QUESTION PLEASE???
just wondering if this compression sustainer actually match up good with a boss distortion pedals....or is it just mainly for cleans and country/blues/jazz??
he's damn good at guitar :) even though what he plays is oftern similar it will only be for the perposes of demoing pedals! i bet he's got a band and i bet they rock!! :D

The CS-3 is a piece of crap stock!!! it should be banned! I modded the crap out of mine!! replaced half the flipping parts with decent stuff!! (panasonic caps) and its now worth using! anyway! if anyone here loves compressors! there is 2 I would say kicks serious ass! and please check them out! the Wampler Ego compressor which has a blend knob! very cool! and the Rothwell love squeeze! which rules!

@cityraintunes ya but compressors should flatten volume, the reason there is a tone knob is to make the eq transparent making it appear as if you dont have a compressor on. to me just sounds like a clamp jumping on top of the signal.
@kissing88 compressor should flatten out your guitar sound not clamp down a gate on your tone making it sound like less. Even sound/Responsive tone thats not what this does
Man, I'm sat hear with aside who uses a CS-3 on tour. He's played Gifstock, Claverham, Kingston Seymour & elsewhere. He's hugged all over. It makes his Squier Strat sound great. Great demo.
I'm not interested in the guys playing. I'm hear to listen to the pedal. Don't like it, then go to guitar world and try it yourself. He showed plenty of versatility and highlighted it's features. Good demo.

does this thing actually sustain your notes for a long time? is it meant to hold out notes for long times or just to compress the sound... how is it compared to the fernandez things?
@tips000 It bring up the volume of the lower volume notes up, and decreases the volume of the higher volume notes. It's like playing through a really loud amp with your volume on low, and slowly turning it up. I think the Fernandes 'Thing" your referring to is the Sustainer kit. I would prefer to use a sustainer because you have infinite sustain. With a pedal it's definitely not infinite. But if you can't afford a Fernandes Sustainer, I would advise you go with a Pigtronix philosophers tone.

i have tried this with my strat or a tele.. it sounds good for me since i only play clean funk jazz and blues. you are right you can hear the hissing like a damn snake but mxr is like that also. what i do is just add a noise cancelling pedal.
@grguitar1 Compressors will do this because they are supposed to even out the level of your playing and make the louder parts quieter and the softer parts louder. This will increase any buzz that is already present (especially if you use single coil pickups which are quite buzzy). Often people will use noise gates when they use a compressor, which will cut out the buzz and noise that you get in between playing notes. Hope this helps :)

i like the riffs that u played, im mostly a rock to metaliest metal of metal person, but those are pretty nice, and the cs 3 is something i always have in my pedal setup even if i don't use it because it's a fun thing to play around with

It depends on the sound you want. It does different things depending on where it is. You just have to watch because you will get more noise if it is after a noisy distortion pedal. I usually put it first. I saw a guy with one first and one last to get different sounds.
Also, anyone who thinks compressors are worthless is a dumbass. Learn something about audio signal processing before you come bitch about how "you can't even hear the pedal." I don't record guitars without some sort of compressor. I use this one for live playing and it works great.
No, that is a skill that needs to be mastered in itself. This pedal amplifies the guitars signal without clipping and distorting the sound. Work on hammer on's and pull off's though, because it will lighten the load that your picking hand carries.

@kennykiloz Sure, I agree 100% and he gets a lot of flak for doing so. Thing is, it gives me a direct comparison, albeit in blues only and I wish I could play blues like that.

any pedal can work with any guitar/bass. Not all pedals will sound good with all guitars/bass though

It balances your tones, and sustains a the signal well after it fades. Add a noise gate and digital delay pedal and you'll understand.

i like the riffs that u played, im mostly a rock to metaliest metal of metal person, but those are pretty nice, and the cs 3 is something i always have in my pedal setup even if i don't use it because it's a fun thing to play around with

It depends on the sound you want. It does different things depending on where it is. You just have to watch because you will get more noise if it is after a noisy distortion pedal. I usually put it first. I saw a guy with one first and one last to get different sounds.

Also, anyone who thinks compressors are worthless is a dumbass. Learn something about audio signal processing before you come bitch about how "you can't even hear the pedal." I don't record guitars without some sort of compressor. I use this one for live playing and it works great.

No, that is a skill that needs to be mastered in itself. This pedal amplifies the guitars signal without clipping and distorting the sound. Work on hammer on's and pull off's though, because it will lighten the load that your picking hand carries.
