I've listened to this song so many times over the decades. I can just listen to it as is or just follow a section. Having said that... the piano player is amazing. I cannot recommend seeing them in concert enough.
The only words to describe this song are PURELY RIGHTEOUS. All late 90's and later no talent hacks need to study this strange new concept of a BAND!!!!! Thanks much to TheBacmaster for this........
Tower of Power is one of the most talented group I can say during my younger days thanks for sharing this video The Back Master have more power to you
WOW big hit song in 1973 played all day long on every station along with ramblin man allmon borthers and aerosmith dream on and of course lets get it on Marvin
A classic tune by one of the world's most underrated groups! The various members of this band through the years have left us with alot of great music.
I'm really wanting to find Ruffus Miller the singer on "East Bay Grease" I'm an OLD friend of his brother Norvell--if anyone can help me-------PLEASE!!
This is the original with Rick Stevens on lead vocal, right? If you have the original "You're still a Young Man" could you please upload that too. Thanks
This is why you're the man, Joe! :-D I'm not a huge listener of R&B/Gospel/Soul/Funk but I can dig this. Never heard of Tower of Power either. Has a bit of a Blood, Sweat & Tears vibe to it too.
@PampersPete Pete? You must still be in Pampers if you've never heard of ToP. LOL ToP, Chicago and B, S & Ts are all horn based, but ToP is in a galaxy all their own. Listen to 'East Bay Grease', 'Tower of Power', and 'Back to Oakland'...extremely funky.
One of my old time favorites - a definite Tower of Powerful musicality with lyrics rising.
