  • I have always loved Ian Mackaye's voice. This is my favourite song from Fugazi.

  • i LOVE it but it sounds like he's singing into a hairdryer, on.

  • See how Ian's dripping sweat like that? he really sweat like that..i got his sweat splashed on me in 1991...still haven't showered.

  • Need more cowbell.

  • Vincennes? Indiana?

  • I agree!

  • it musta been hot up there to sweat to such a mellow song

  • I love instrument, definitely one of the greatest music documentary of all time documenting one of the greatest bands of all time. I like the 'I saw you eating ice cream' part

  • best disco song ever

  • I love this song. A friend and I spent what seems like beautiful years driving around listening to Fugazi. Saw Fugazi live once in a very very hot small venue; one of the best shows I've ever seen.

  • @davidmorash Yeah i have been listening to Ian since the 80's saw fugazi in New Paltz, NY! back then i would go to concerts every weekend if not more!!!

  • @8ycorn ah mon dieu. get out once in awhile and buy some records.

  • people still say douche...?

  • I LIKE FUGAZI. thats all you need to say people. stop being tools

  • To all those putting each other down, Ian and Fugazi were highly against that kind of behaviour - respect each other and respect the music, be positive.

  • @SeanMylesWhittaker Ian MacKaye is a dick. Don't kid yourself. He is without a doubt the coolest person he knows. He knows nothing of diplomacy, and accepts nothing but total conformity to his ridiculously rigid views.

And the crowd around this band was even worse. A bunch of total conformist snots.

Love their music. Can't stand their personalities.

  • @vergedrums Where did I say Ian is or is not a dick? All I was saying is there is no reason for people to get angry at each other over a video on the internet, dicks aside.

  • burlington and red red wine whine swine

  • fugazi is the pure esence of music, no major labels, DIY attitude, passion for experiment with music, and great live shows!

  • DOUCHE ALERT:

  • @SmokazCOH i visited your channel and it seems like your a cunt to everybody, probably because you have no friends (hence why u have alad of videos up playing video games). you just wait for everybodys aggrivated reply and it gives you a little chuckle and it brightens up your day. how about maybe you put down the games, stop watching shit tv and do something good with your life, in the real world. you silly dick muncher ;) everybody hates you nah nah nah nahh nah. cunt

  • @worldcitizengrendel Just jump off a bridge

  • best band in the world .

  • @morfcode It is interesting when you consider how different the punk music world was when Fugazi started as a band(1987). They were viewed as this new fusion of funk, go go, punk and post-punk. Yeah, such a great band. So much of early to mid- nineties post hardcore owes a huge debt to them.

  • Holy crap everyone who commented on this video is a douche.

  • @MrCaddas what's a douche? like literally.. i've always wondered.. oh and what do you enjoy more - NASCAR or a nice camembert?

  • @MrCaddasNO just you..

  • @MrCaddas said the person who listens to a british soft rock band named FOooOgAAaZzzy

  • @MrCaddas Not Meeeh! I Love Fugazi!!<3~~

  • @MrCaddas

    So then, you too?

  • @MrCaddas

    you commented lol so hard

  • I just had to comment this one more time.

If there had to be a modern version of fugazi, it would definitely have to be Polar Bear Club. Those of you who actually grew up listening to Fugazi, you'd be happy to see how PBC are doing things.

  • @calebmNelson Thanks man! will look into this. Pz

  • Fugazi is not emo. Bands influenced by Fugazi have taken a more emotional approach to their music, and may consider themselves part of the emo trend, but that doesn't make Fugazi emo. Blaming them for creating emo is like blaming any infuential band from the punk era for good charlotte being posers playing not punk rock music. It doesn't add up in an right way.

  • @calebmNelson I'm not a Fugazi fan but ill certainly back you in saying these guys are anything but emo. Anyone who says these guys are emo has no idea what emo is.

  • @calebmNelson HONESTLY! do you actually fucking care whether it's technically emo? if you loved fugazi then found out they were emo would you stop liking them? if yes then your a shallow cunt and if not then SHUT THE FUCK UP :D

  • unless you want to do karoake, art rock is the way to go. sounds best in dives. should be called dive music because it is authentic homegrown, hand-painted, pure analog art.

  • old-timers from the 70s would call them prog. fugazi was originally hardcore punk, but when they started to do their own thing, improvising, experimenting, and jamming with a rock and punk sound (post-rock/punk), they become known as independent artists (indie) creating art (art rock) rather than commercial products, leaving their sound unpolished, raw, and uncut (garage rock/punk) though at times they do practice and refine a sound into a coarse commercial song like waiting room..

  • @jeepndesert i should interpretative too as a description for post-rock/punk since a bad typically takes a sound or song from another band and sometimes from a completely different genre and do completely their own thing with it in a punk or rock format where people don't hear a cover song but they say, you know that sort of sounds like that song or that band or that type of music. interpretation is part of the improvisation.

  • they are more post-rock/punk, typically known as art rock, indie, or garage.

  • the whole genre discussion here

I understand what you people mean, but I'm a student (music manager)and the fact is people need genres , people need to know what a band sounds like cause otherwise they won't buy it and genres are very important in the music business (promoters,... they all want to know what you play)if there weren't any genres and someone would come up to me with a lady gaga album and say it's just "good" music i would buy it (now I don't)

btw there are indeed to many genres

  • fugazi is punk with a nicer, calmer sound.

  • love it, reminds me of Joy Division 8)

  • if you feel it needs a label, you don't understand music at all.

  • @camroc32 I don't care if they have a label or not

If you judge a band poorly for wanting to get their music out more, YOU don't understand music either

  • @ReadMyCommentBitch ...I meant "label" in the other way, not like that. I'm on your side.

  • This is a great song! His voice crawls in my skin...

  • Why do people get so mad watching videos of bands they like?

It seems every live video everyone is like, "WHAT IS WRONG WITH MUSIC THIS BAND IS THE ONLY GOOD BAND IN EXISTENCE!!!!!!!!"

  • Ian has proven time and time again that he can and will do anything and everything he wants. no question there.

  • Call me childish, but of all the ways Fugazi is awesome my absolute favorite thing was that old-timey ship's bell on the drum kit. Just check out around 1:00: CLANG CLANG CLANGCLANGCLANG. Fuckin' rules.

  • Fuck the cowbell, the drummer has the goddam liberty bell for fucks sake!

  • I like to refer to them as Fugazi

  • This is what music is all about RAW music none of this bullshit my hair has gotta be a certain way or I gotta wear this to look the part. You dumbass shits have no clue about Punk music at ALL, you try try so hard but you fail fail so bad! Being punk or hardcore is not what you look like, it's not a fashion statement. @ blackestcracker you kick ass!!!

  • This is what music is all about RAW music none of this bullshit my hair has gotta be a certain way or I gotta wear this to look the part. • @jdmroku Well said man. Punk is state of mind, and requires alot of attention to not giving a fuck about what someone else has to say about you.

  • EMO? NOOOO, ONLY A ESTUPID PERSON OR A TEENAGER DUMBASS SAY THAT! JAJAJA

    FUGAZI RULES!

  • @lupinoredskin You talk like emo is a bad thing. Emo was a big popular trend back then.

People would indeed not create arguments about it if they just called todays emo, nu-emo or something. But as a popular comment states, this is first of all good music.

  • This ain't no emo... this stuff ROCKS!!

  • The awesome rhythm team of Canty and Lally!

  • only one category for Fugazi = BOSS!

  • i just got off the phone with Ian, he said stop labeling music in to all these sub categories, and that this overly technical categorization is the reason fugazi is on hiatus. a joke!

  • All that speak the truth know that FUGAZI is not "emo". Not because "emo" is Elmo's favorite kind of music, not because it does not technically fit into the "emo" category but because FUGAZI came and did their thing long before the first human being to ever coin the term "emo" was even conceived as an embryo!

Plus FUGAZI doesn't even sound like that queer emo shit!

  • God I miss this band!!!

  • there are only really three types of music, everything iseither one of them, or a combination. the three are great, good, and bad.

  • wow look at you pricks chasing eachothers tails.be it emo, postpunk,or even punk reggae dub.i love it whatever its called.and just for the record if you want an official definition of the genre in which fugazi falls into please see the book "our band could be your life" written by michael azzerad.it documents 13 bands who achieved fame during the indie hardcore movement from 81-91.

  • its fucking music

    fuck genres

  • Lead singer is HAWT!

  • emo!? children, it's fugazi. it's long division.

  • emo is emo. everyone knows what emo sounds like. whiny lyrics accompanied by whinier sounding singing, poppy melodies, etc.

i don't care what any of you think emo was or is.. i know what it is, and this isn't emo.

by your definition of "emo" music, practically every song ever made would be considered emo.

you're retarded, this is punk. it's just not your every-day, watered down, generic sort of punk.

  • It's funny that punk was invented as an alternative to genres and so many people have tried to place the music into an infinite number of meaningless categories....

  • I love this song sooooo much.

  • art rock pop more or less similar to early punk but their albums sound so punchy to me now i like hardcore still red c is punk as fuck rock

  • pop rock r and b rock rock n roll its really all punk

dischords hardly rock n roll with exception nation of ulysees

  • this is like one of the first times ive ever heard fugazi, id heard of them before and only just got round to giving them a proper listen, these guys arent emo, these guys are like one of the previous comments post-hardcore, anyone who actually knows anything about punk music knows that, wasnt punk music supposed to be about anything goes, and not following the rigid codes and conventions of mainstream music anyway???

  • underappreciated band for sure. Talented guitar palyer indeed.

  • Joy division was nowhere near emo. Just because a band makes songs that are emotionally driven does not make them emo.

  • @MDMAdxmTHC Joy Division was punk with goth tendencies....

Early Joy Division was all punk, raw, aggressive..........then they turned dark as Ian's depression took hold.

This is the essence of Joy Division.

  • @DIVISIONINCISION i was thinking the same thing

  • You gotta love Fugazi! I saw Joe Lally play solo recently, pretty excellent.

  • why can't you just call it rock and roll

  • Here's a new word. It's actually been around a lot longer than words like "Emo" or "Post-Punk", but is probably new to some of you. Try this... "Fugazi is FANTASTIC" - PERIOD

  • This is cool! The percussion rules! For Whatever reason, this song kind of reminds me of the song by David Hatfield called 'Song And Dance'.

  • Also this song sounds alot like Joy division who were pretty 'emo'... emo in the sense of confessing and being emotionally driven. We should start calling the 'emo' bands of today... fags... like people who ride harleys. that way we can use emo properly...

  • The problem with the term emo is today it's used to like classify a style of music like fall out boy or panic at the disco. like nandric says it's just about confessing your emotions and stuff. It's like when we say a band is prog rock, usually meaning lots of guitar effects, spacey sound. but really prog rock means progressive in that it pushes the boundaries of music bringing new ideas to the table.

  • hELL NO NOT EMO....THIS IS NOT THE PLASTIC CRAP THAT THEY CALL MUSIC TODAY

  • I was cleaning around the house and came across an empty Fugazi CD-case.

I forgot how much I liked this music.

  • Fugazi. The realm will never be the same. Play on brothers and sisters. Fugazi return, I beg you...

  • How bout screamo, at least rites of spring.

  • I'm just gonna call this one of if not the most inspirational band I've ever heard.

  • influenced me when i rode bmx. still listen to them 1991 to 2010

  • fugazi is not punk... fugazi is not emo... fugazi is not hard core... the members may come from bands who played these styles and share influences of, but by no means can they be placed in any one category, they're just not that kind of band... they have been creative enough to evolve their music to span genres, so lets just leave it at amazing, eh?

  • i see thesame emo arguement about this band on every video of theres hahah! but i just found em , damn good music!!!!!

  • i just love watching u guys argued..

  • I gonna just call this "music" and you assholes can keep your trendy labels and hot words for you and your friends down at the coffee shop. Uppity cunts.

  • @blackestcracker -- word
