  • I'm a teenager and I have been wanting to be a forensic anthropologist for a long time now. I can't wait to be one.

  • Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Anthropology = D.A.B.F.A.

  • The skull is the best for determining Age, Sex and Ancestry as and overall assessment. However the Pelvis is the best place for determining age and sex and it can do so within more accurate ranges that the skull, the only downfall is that the pelvis has no markers for determining ancestry.

  • I would say that the Pelvis is also useful, but not necessarily better for determining age and sex. When researching, I will do an age/sex assessment on the skull and will then try to verify those results using the pelvis if available. I think its important to use as many tools as possible when coming up with a biological profile, instead of trying to relying on a single method or trait assessment.

  • Yes I agree, what i meant to say was that i think that if found individually that the pelvis would be a better choice. There is a 90% accuracy in determining age and sex with the pelvis alone this then drops to 84% when using the skull alone (If using anthroposcopic techniques)
