Well personally I love Within Temptation and love the difference in music between albums. The only album I dislike however is Enter and that is because I feel the growling on some of the songs ruins Wthin Temptation's greatest asset... Sharon's voice. But since Enter was their first album, and people don't wish for them to change styles then that would mean WT would certainly not have the following they have today outside the Death/Doom Metal crowd which would be tragic.

Sorry guys, is this nightwish? cause if my eyes arent deceiving me its a within temptation video. And as for the 'not a metal band' comment, it's pretty narrow-minded to say that they're not a metal band. They're a SYMPHONIC metal band, which gives more emphasis on the voice of the singer than jamming guitars til they break. Their new music is different, but bands can't keep the same style over and over again. It's good that they're experimenting.

Amen. Just because they don't scream their lyrics doesn't mean its not metal, which is classified as non main stream music with actual instruments as opposed to a computer spitting out it's beats. 

Within Temptation, Nightwish, Epica, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence (to a certain, small, almost minuscule degree) is all metal, it's just a sub division of it, like Thrash Metal, or Hair Metal.

well. iam sorry to tell so. but in my opinion within temptation is not a metal band anymore. There music was metal, the first album, and perhaps a mother earth and Ice queen aswell. But there last works (great they are) are not metal, but rock or gothic-pop. and yes nightwish died a time ago. the new one is a commercial revival of a goodrunning moneymachine.

I do agree with you on many points. Within Temptation has changed an awful lot. Still, I think we must admire the way they have become. Up until now, they have succeeded to give every album a new and personal sound, commercial or not. Of course they need to be commercial, or they won't be able to catch up with all the popbands. Still, they manage to do so in a way that still makes them able to keep their own identity. I like that about them.
