You could do as well on a low fat/ low carb diet By low carb I do not mean adkins. Exercise is the key, and also watching carb and fat intake. Much success though.
Rice and Pasta are eaten in very small amounts, also to compliment food. Unfortunantly the downside is too much bread which now days is refined. Back in the day it was homemade and fresh. Greeks also love their nuts (good) and sweets (bad) and they eat these every day along with a shitload of coffee and alcohol. I never met a greek that only stuck to one glass of wine a day. Maybe this video is for the people on a tour but certainly is not a Greek persons diet.
Meat is very popular during the week such as meatballs (revithia), souvlaki, pastizio etc and is cooked with full fat (no lean meat). Feta Cheese is eaten daily in salads and throughout th day. Cereals are very rarely eaten and legumes eaten once or maybe twice during the week. Greeks use Vegies to complement their food but it is not the main dish.
At least three eggs a day, either in avgolemono used as a sauce for cabbage rolls or in chicken soup as a base. Also people use eggs to make tiropitas, which people consume every day. Kid (lamb) is consumed weekly, chicken one to two times a week, fish and seafood daily, including tarmasalata (fish roe). People use butter, lard or olive oil for cookng or dressing salad.
I am Greek and have been brought up on a traditional Greek diet and have lived in Greece for a few years. This video is not all true. In a Greek home people consume mostly protein and saturated fats.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. this really helps. bdw, what happen to your hair?? lol
