I remember hearing this way back. There was no lion sleeps tonight on this version. It is as close to the original as you could get. I've never heard anyone come close to singing this like Karl did.
Talk about,,video killed the radio star,,still remember recording this,,reel to reel,,prior to to casett 's.big thank you for uploading this K.D.classic.
Wow, Loved this song when it came out in 1962, it was the 'horrible hit of the week' here in Melbourne on 3KZ.....but, this became the beer drinking song of all the 'bodgies' then.....got to love it.
Played in the Riverside Folk Club Glasgow Jed Morris and Serpents Skiffle Group late fifties. Karl also played there. I hated him, he was brilliant. Long blond hair, unheard of then, and a fabulous voice.
Superb recording by a superb act - loved this from the day it first came out in 1962 and have only grown to love it all the more as the years have passed by! Wonderful - thanks for posting!
Ah memories! My dad loved this song and I learned as a small child, without realising at the time, all about the flexibility of the human voice......... and the amazing guitar playing!!
i love karl denver cause when i was a baby this song wimoweh got me out of my ill ness rip karl from ur ever loving 51 year old female fan marion nicol
1st time hearing this after 40(yes 40!)years.Reminds me of my late father with the 8 track in his Mk1 Cortina(remember them?)Ahh,happy days..Still sounds great.
Thank you so much for uploading this track. When I was 10 or so this was my favourite song... and still is. And it holds fantastic memories of my Mom too....
My favourite song, too, when I was nine back in the very early sixties. I haven't heard it since so it was a pleasure to hear it again. I feel it's aged a little yet I still got some of the spine tingling moments I used to get listening to it back then.
This was out long before "lion sleeps etc"
