Pardon my ignorance, what movie or TV program did this clip originate from? Entertaining video, BTW, I have IL-2 1946 but haven't bought Cliffs of Dover, and this video conveys well the players' frustration with CoD, and certainly gives me little incentive to purchase CoD at the present. I'm very surprised how bad CoD seems to be, given the success of previous IL-2 versions, especially 1946.

@guily6669 Dude actually scratch all that. I looked up why you might have a problem and its because the gtx 500 series isn't supported till 3 days from now with the american release. Mine is probably working because im running it off of the nvidia control pannel and not the application controls. Just hold out a lil longer and it should be fixed for you

@guily6669 Can you give an example? Like trying to crash your plane into another plane, the metal air foils should break apart nice, but on your game do they like just nudge eachother and spin the plane as if the plane was a brick?

I had every option in the realism activated, and the plane always fly very crazy, not like i see in every youtube vid. about it... basically if i make a little turn with a few g force, it's like if the plane broke it self and then never flies good, so basically after almost every turn i make, i had to restart the game so the plane get's normal. But the game was laging a lot, witch doesn't help...
@guily6669 Yeah im really thinking its the lag but if it isnt i wonder if they actually made it so realistic where you have to change which fuel tank gets consumed while flying. A normal ww2 fighter has three fuel tanks, left, bottom, and right. I wonder if when enabled for all realism only one of your fuel tanks is being consumed causing your plane to be unbalanced and have more force when turning screwing the plane up. try running it on arcade or semi-realistic
@guily6669 I finally found the problem, the game does not set the carbureter open, so basically the engine overheats and causes the throttle to make more stress on the engine breaking it apart making the plain go crazy even with the slightest throttle, go play and in control set carbureter open to a key and as soon as you start any flight cut the throttle in half, open the carb. and slowly work to 100% throttle again, you wont run into the issue ever again unlees you like dive the plane lol
@VapourGalaxy I didn't liked this Il2 Sturmovik, I activated everything to be the most realistic possible, but I couldn't even fly the place, with the ugly physics it has... Everytime i just turn the plane, the plane goes crazy, like if it was in a god damn tornado. And even worst I couldn't fly near the ground, cause even with full speed, when i lift the plane he still goes down, like when the plane is stalling, and sadly it was at full speed, so it couldn't ever stall... CRAPT GAME 4 me!!

@Vincini28 haha... then go find in the Newton's law if there are any law for a plane that is flying parallel to the ground at full speed and when it goes up it stalls like if it had no sustenance on the wings (if that's the word), which simply is what happens when the plane is flying very slow, or when it gets in some kind of (no air holes or whatever it is called in english)... The problem was just one I was at almost full RPM on the engine, I got so sad with that, and with the crapt sound...
@guily6669 All of newtons laws effect aerospace. Im in the air force auxillary and it was on every test of mine. I want you to look up angle of attack...that is the only correct way to increase alltitude from flying level in an aircraft. Now sorry for flipping out but i figured you were just one of those kids who complains about a simulator because they are very realisitc. after angle of attack go to nvidias website to get the beta driver for your gtx 570, i have the same gpu and the i5-2500k.
@guily6669 Full engine capacity is actually bad for a plane when zipping from 0 throttle to 100% throttle. it cause the airflow to increase on the center of the aircraft making it un-equal and resulting in very tough to handle controls. And if the graphics are that bad on your computer try adjusting them through your nvidia control pannel. you might have the setting on for nvidia to control the graphics not the game. And also the physics are good for me. Just try updating your gpu driver.

Sadly the unique Sim i really can say is very realistic is only some RC simulators like Phoenix and Realflight RC, cause i learned to fly in that sims, and when i bought a plane, it was the same, I landed easily...

@guily6669 I have private pilot licence flying varoius aircraft for 10 years. You must be doing something wrong because the physics of Il2 are pretty close to real-life flying. The Planes I fly in IL2 don't have the issue you describe. Maybe you are pulling up to strong/fast cuz that WILL cause a stall no matter what speed (this is so even in real life!)...maybe your joystick settings too sensitive?
I do have bought this game and like anyone I see it like a promess for the future, it is good for an alpha test but to have something consistent you have to get back to the previous versions of Il2.

@TheFlyingPineapple Sorry but the original IL2 was great out of the box and then improved over time. At no point was it an unplayable mess, it even ran on the modest PC I had back in 2002 and played well.

@ydyammo Well, I don't think CoD is going to get the same support level as IL2 did. Hope I'm wrong but that is my gut feeling. Tried the beta patch to CoD yesterday and the stuttering is still dismal due to the buildings loading into vram. It's the worst stuttering I have ever seen in a game.

About the stuttering... Remember that CoD only runs on one thread at the moment. (I am certain that they cut multi-core to solve the myriad of bugs & crashes that comes with multi-thread development.) So, when they re-enable the multi-core (and solve the bugs/crashes) the game will be able to load resources on a separate thread...
I do trust Maddox. :) They, (unlike UBIsoft), are professional about their work.

@Skyfaller2010 It really playable now. I got it through justflight over last weekend and after about 3 hours messing around, I have 50-70 fps with 50 planes in the big furball over the channel. I get the same over land if I scale the planes down to about 30. I cancelled my preorder with steam since you can buy it in th US through justflight. Its also 5 bucks cheaper so I suggest you do the same and not have to wait until the 19th :)

@ChrisP1341 FPS means nothing in this sim because it is loading of buildings and trees that causes stuttering. Stuttering has to do with VRAM I/O loading and nothing to do with overall FPS. After tweaking the settings I get good frame rates too but stuttering shite is still there over land. ILya says beta patch to improve it to be released shortly but he also says buildings are fully optimized already. Well, buildings is No.1 culprit of stuttering so don't ever expect no stuttering in this sim.
Excellent translation. What a major ripoff this Cliffs of Dover was. So long in the making for a dozen planes that look just like they did in the old IL2 but with dynamic shadows (which you have to turn off anyway). Running on an Intel i920, 15GB of RAM, a 2GB ATI 4870x2 (2 cpus in 1 card), and I get 10 FPS at best.
Oh, but that's because CoD is way ahead of its time!!!

Game has a lot of problems. For example it will use only one core of your CPU. It's 2011, 7 years of development (!!!), and game does not recognise multi-core CPU. It suffers from stutters even if fps counter shows 30+. Worst thing is that it is not because game is so hi-tech. It just does not use your hardware at full power. It is major design flaw in game engine (what were they doing for 7 years?!).
Oh, and search for 'Hurrpedo' on youtube, Don't buy it now, wait for patches.

I do have bought this game and like anyone I see it like a promess for the future, it is good for an alpha test but to have something consistent you have to get back to the previous versions of Il2.

And friends wonder why the hell I still play Microprose's European Air War & SDOE. We're still are coming up with new improvements, mods and add-ons for both of those games that still make them a blast to play.
Yeah, I have all of IL-2 up through IL-2 '46, but until I see what will happen with Cliffs Of Dover I'll just kick back & observe the continuing carnage. Just remember campers, genius, unlike stupidity, has it's limits.........

IL2 series have much longer life cycle than 'regular' video games because
1st it is a hardcore sim
2nd it has no real competitors on the market
Yes CloD is in a poor state at this moment, but the devs are gonna keep improving over time:)

Quit whining. After the new patch, it became even playable on my laptop that's almost 2 years old. I'm already hooked!
There was also a nice improvement in fps by turning off the windows aero visuals in compitability mode.

The game will be fixed... Until then, practise flying in IL2-1946... which still, 10 years later, is one of the best simulators out there. :)

@ydyammo Well, I don't think CoD is going to get the same support level as IL2 did. Hope I'm wrong but that is my gut feeling. Tried the beta patch to CoD yesterday and the stuttering is still dismal due to the buildings loading into vram. It's the worst stuttering I have ever seen in a game.

About the stuttering... Remember that CoD only runs on one thread at the moment. (I am certain that they cut multi-core to solve the myriad of bugs & crashes that comes with multi-thread development.) So, when they re-enable the multi-core (and solve the bugs/crashes) the game will be able to load resources on a separate thread...
I do trust Maddox. :) They, (unlike UBIsoft), are professional about their work.

@Skyfaller2010 It really playable now. I got it through justflight over last weekend and after about 3 hours messing around, I have 50-70 fps with 50 planes in the big furball over the channel. I get the same over land if I scale the planes down to about 30. I cancelled my preorder with steam since you can buy it in th US through justflight. Its also 5 bucks cheaper so I suggest you do the same and not have to wait until the 19th :)

@ChrisP1341 FPS means nothing in this sim because it is loading of buildings and trees that causes stuttering. Stuttering has to do with VRAM I/O loading and nothing to do with overall FPS. After tweaking the settings I get good frame rates too but stuttering shite is still there over land. ILya says beta patch to improve it to be released shortly but he also says buildings are fully optimized already. Well, buildings is No.1 culprit of stuttering so don't ever expect no stuttering in this sim.

Excellent translation. What a major ripoff this Cliffs of Dover was. So long in the making for a dozen planes that look just like they did in the old IL2 but with dynamic shadows (which you have to turn off anyway). Running on an Intel i920, 15GB of RAM, a 2GB ATI 4870x2 (2 cpus in 1 card), and I get 10 FPS at best.
Oh, but that's because CoD is way ahead of its time!!!
BS! That's what this game is. So long waiting and paying $120 bucks for something I'll be able to play in 2015.

Game has a lot of problems. For example it will use only one core of your CPU. It's 2011, 7 years of development (!!!), and game does not recognise multi-core CPU. It suffers from stutters even if fps counter shows 30+. Worst thing is that it is not because game is so hi-tech. It just does not use your hardware at full power. It is major design flaw in game engine (what were they doing for 7 years?!).
Oh, and search for 'Hurrpedo' on youtube, Don't buy it now, wait for patches.

its really a horrible game... forget FPS.. the whole game seems like its a game you find in the discount bin for 5.99 .. modded Il2 blows this away.. check out HSFX 5.0 .. the only thing I can think of that COD is "good" at is the ocean graphics and.. the damage model.. thats about it.. this game isnt fixable.. hell , they even used the SAME SOUNDS from Il2 on a lot of stuff.. its a rip off..
