I've been using these concepts for two years straight, but Andrew helps solidify the knowlege into something far less abstract. Anybody looking to learn theory, I'd automatically reccommend this guy. Brilliant, easy-to-understand. It's about time advanced players get a great freebie on YouTube. Keeps it all the more interesting. Gratze.
All-inspiring...is what you are, Andrew! Can't thank you enough! You have a real flair for not only playing, but conveying what you do in a manner that even a klutz like me can grasp. A gazillion thanks! :D)
Hey Andrew, is there any "magic box" for 9th and 13th chords aswell? If so, could you, by any chance, make a lesson expalining those too? I know this comment is nothing compared to the letters that inspire you to make video lessons, but i think it would be really helpful not only to me, but from players all around the world that's into funk and music in general.
Great Lesson sir. I hope to be as good as you one day. I'm getting there, but what interests me more than musical knowledge is just the sounds you get out of the guitar. It truly is the most beautiful instrument there is.
What i really love about these videos is that often it gives me a sort of an epiphany, because ive been playing guitar for about five years, but i've never had a teacher, so i have "discovered" many scales and for example what you showed us in this video. But i've never known what i was playing, and this helps me alot, now i know what i'm playing, and that makes applying this into a song much easier. Thanks for all the great lessons Andrew, keep it up.
@indoshakermaker just use minor pentatonics, as with major you use the major pentatonics to keep it simple. If you don't know the difference between the major and minor scale shapes just move your minor shape back 3 frets to get the major
hey andrew, nice lesson.....i have a que i.e. can i simply say that play the chord and then move to its dorian mode and play the upper register notes and then for the high pitch notes play the same notes from major scale.....?
Darn it Andrew, with each lesson I get more amazed of your excellence of musical knowledge and theory. Is it ever gonna end ? I certainly hope not ! You keep popping up these videos for free, learning me every week something new. Knowledge and theory is VERY IMPORTANT if you wanna progress through guitar playing quickly, as wel as expending your horizon. With your lessons I can do that and can't thank you enough for that, doing it for free.
Thanks dude! It sure makes it a lot easier when so many viewers are sending great questions to me each day. If I had to invent topics, I'm sure this would be a lot more difficult... I just regret that as I get more popular on YouTube (and the amount of questions sent into the studio continue to increase), I can't answer/reply to each question. Hopefully, what I do manage to create here helps the majority of viewers who watch!
hey how do you sit comofrtably when playing guitar for a long time? i get backpain alot (im just 16 and not overweight). i play a les paul and it's very heavy too.
@smashingpoop correct posture is the key: position you and your guitar in a way that your back is straight, your body is relaxed and you don't really have to hold up your guitar. i hope that helps.
Do you actually pinch the chords with your fingers AND pick the 6th string? If so, is there some kind of exercice for that? thanks a lot great video

Never change the videos Andrew. They are probably the best I have seen on the net. Keep making handouts, they are definitely definitely worth it.
