  • this stuff is hilarious...these guys deserve acting awards

  • in wwfwrestlefest arcade the demolition are crush and smash

  • smash and crush could have been amazing for a long time. too bad that version was short lived, as crush was an improvement athletically over axe. axe couldn't do much in the ring.

and they really blew the potential LOD/demoltion fued. built up only to have no big event match.

this was around the time vince really lost his way. alot of fueds built that didnt have the big payoff. jake/warrior. undertaker/sid. hogan/flair. warrior/undertaker. LOD/demolition.

  • Anvil is fucking awesome in this, rofl.

  • I remember after demolition broke up smash had a very brief run in the singles. I would have loved to have seen that developed more.

  • I always thought that it was a mistake for Demolition to bring one more member.

  • oh shit im fucking scared!!!!!!!

  • Well if bret wasn't so selfish n only caring about himself he could have grabbed ,,,,,,, THE BEST THERE IS THE BEST THERE WAS AND THE BEST THERE EVER WILL BE ,,,, for his team ,,,, THE KING OF HEARTS HIMSELF___ OWEN HEART !!!!!!! R I P

  • @MISSYOUMOSSIE actually, right around his time Owen was in WCW and wrestling in Japan...

  • paul diamond! demolition is my favorite tag team ever!

  • I was watching the WWF and saw this "live" when it was broadcast. I will never forget how I thought to myself... "Ok, now... how is anyone going to beat these guys?!"

  • This would've been a perfect time for the Harts to bring Owen or Davey Boy in as a third Hart Foundation member to even the odds.

  • Gene Simmons or Space Ace should've been the next member!

  • Wow, look at those mullets

  • I remember going to a house show before Crush made his TV debut. Demolition went up against the Hart Foundation, and I was standing there stunned (mind you, I was 9) thinking "Who is this third guy? That's not fair!"

Some of the other matches on the card that night:

Koko B. Ware vs. The Genius

    Hacksaw vs. Earthquake

    Tito Santana vs. The Warlord

    Brutus Beefcake vs. Mr. Perfect

    Thanks Dad

  • forgot how kinky 'n S&M their look really was.

  • Man, I really thought Paul Diamond and Joe Champ had this one in the bag, too. They were such iconic wrestlers...

  • @joiles01 Truly the precursor to many of the great teams of the day...I mean they were tough to handle back in the ring.

  • Back when vince was somewhat entertaining, as he was commentating, now his business just sucks donkey balls. He killed this sports entertainment franchise.80's and 90's wwf was great, awa, wcw, wccw, nwa were just as good too. But vince just killed it. There isn't anymore variety or wrestling.

  • oh Anvil. you and your coke.

  • Brian Adams either dated or was married to Miss America '92 Carolynn Sapp (also from Kona) some time after her reign as Miss America. They weren't married very long.

  • Ax was ill from an allergic reaction to seafood an crush was brought in to help.

  • Ok......who came first

    The Road Warriors or Demolition?

    And have they ever fought?

  • @hoghash78

Road Warriors came before Demolition. In fact, Demolition was inspired by (some say a complete rip off) of the Road Warriors. Although to be fair to Demolition, they became a bona fide act in their own right as they became one of the most popular tag teams in the WWF. And yes, Demolition (with Crush) and the Road Warriors (with Ultimate Warrior) did face each other in a six man tag match in the WWF.

  • poor paul diamond awa tag team champion now a wwf jobber.

  • Ya know, if I live to be 100, I will never understand how the new Demolition went down so quickly. They kept Ax around for a while to transition Crush, Crush was a good fit. And them three comin to the ring at the same time was just plan badass.

  • @raynemane I think Demolition had just run its course at that point. Probably the fact that they went from heels, to monster faces for their big run, and then back to heels and even pointlessly got Fuji back as manager (reminds me of the Giant rejoining the NWO for no reason in 1998). Plus the business as a whole started transitioning for the WWF as a lot of the late 80s guys started leaving or just got played out. LOD joining didn't help, since you knew the Demos were gonna job out to them.

  • No wonder the Hart Foundation broke up. Jim probably got tired of Bret treating him like an idiot by not allowing him to rant and rave. That bickering made them easier to pin for guys like Demolition.

  • Ax looks like the freakin tin man

  • Ax's health problems were kayfabe...

  • I loved his song Summer of '69.

  • Sean Mooney went on do do the local newscast in my area In NY/NJ for WWOR 9. It was always funny to see him doing serious stories. I don't think many viewers knew his past with the WWF.

  • @ShaneKarma376 Mooney is still around on UPN. He's been on so long that he's a pretty familiar face in the NY/NJ area.

  • @peterp21 TNA should hire Mooney. He's better than that assclown Iron Mike Tenay.

  • They fired Ax because he had a serious heart condition. Oddly he's still alive and his replacement Crush is dead.

  • @DominoRyder excellent point thats the most impressive sensible statement i have seen in a while on here

  • smash barry darsow grew up with the road warriors in minneapolis.

  • @moggy1231

darsow went to Highschool In Robbinsdale (I believe) also at that same school at that time were Rick Rude and Curt Henning. There must have been something in the water in Minnieapolis area back then

  • These boys in their prime would easily Jobber out most of WWE's short lived Default Tag Teams.

  • they can destroy you no place 2 hide the demos will get you

  • I always liked Demolition more with the masks on. Just like Kane.

  • Demolition = Best Tag Team EVER !

  • nice mullets

  • 0:56 its "crush" not "crash"

  • People can say what they want about Demolition being WWE's rip-off of the Road Warriors, but I absolutely love Demolition. I like them better than the Road Warriors, to be honest. Road Warriors were cool, but when Ax and Smash (and later Crush, to a degree) got in a match, you really saw that they could go a full match with someone and would beat someone down the whole time. They just seemed more badass to me.

  • Crush was brought in because Ax had a legit heart condition which prevented him from competing. This was a smart way of keeping the team alive for another year. Too bad they lost a lame wrestlemania match in 91 then just disappeared. They belong in the HOF class of 2011!!!

  • @JimmyLMT kind of ironic that Ax Is still around competing on the indepdent circuit now...

  • Gee I really thought Joe Champ was gonna get in there and kick some ass..

  • Demolition > L.O.D.

  • No offence to the late Brian Adams (Crush RIP) but he really did ruin demolition, lets face it, the moment he joined - the group slowly went downhill.

  • @Rob23 I loved his music, though.

  • ** sorry guys im just reading back and seems someone has already cleared this up a bit..

  • Can anyone tell me, what happened for Demolition to become heels?

I have read on wiki, and it says when Crush was introduced they took a heel approach but me and my flatmate cant understand. Was there one moment where this took place? As they were big faces at WM 6 beating Andre.

Any help would be good, as cant find a thing cheers.

  • fake L.O.D!

  • Oh, awesome-ness.

    The most genius teamup ever.

Like his name fit so well into the team and they were all cool.

Whoever thought of this is a genius.

I thought that guy's name was Joe Chump, awesome.

  • Ok, the way I remember it (I was about 8 at the time), Crush showed up one week and they won a match with Ax on the outside (they were still faces). Then the next week they were heels (The fans booed). I remember thinking even as a little kid it was weird that the fans hated them so quickly, I think in post production of superstars they dubbed in boos from the crowd.

  • Demoliton was a awesome tag-team they should be in the wwe hall of fame

  • @viper4525

i tihnk its hard to put a tag team in the hall of fame. demolition only had a 4 year run. RW/LOD had a nearly a 20 year career. they did hold the tiles longer than anyone else, and they are a 3 time champion. i would love to see them there, but i can see why wwe is hesitant to put htem in

  • I love Anvil's promos, he's going completely spare here!

  • I also hated the fact that Crush wore the title belt even-though he didn't win it.

  • The end of Demolition.

  • paul diamond the future kato of the orient express

  • which one became the repo man

  • @hatchetman42789 Smash, while Crush carried on as Crush but with a completely different look/gimmick.

  • @hatchetman42789 Smash

  • lol @ jobbers

  • Paul Diamand And Joe Champ were 35 and 29.....lol

  • @williamsobieski, all changed when Crush showed up. Many like them best only as a true duo, not a trio with Ax outside the ring. I read somewhere that Crush was brought in when Ax began to struggle with poor health.

  • Hmmm...so the Demos were still faces when they added Crush; when did they "officially" become heels in 1990?

  • @fivebearrugs Apologies for the delay in replying. They became heels 'proper' during the match with the Harts. The "similar looking" Ax and Smash kept swapping places (Ax hid under the ring for most of the match). The LOD came out and saved the day. A little while after that they returned to having Mr Fuji as their manager, wore masks, had a 'darker' entrance theme, then disbanded.

  • Oh! And got rid of Ax - he had a heart condition that came up in a routine medical, which is why they brought Crush in.

  • @PurestSpirit So they became "officially proper" heels during their SummerSlam match with the Harts, or was it during a match with the Harts *before* SummerSlam. I remember seeing the SSlam 90 match where Smash/Crush fought the Harts, and Ax came down during the final fall and hid underneath the ring, constantly swapping places with Smash. LOD came out and dragged Ax from underneath.

  • @fivebearrugs Yes, it was the SummerSlam match - They became more heel-like in the build up to that match, but they were still faces going into it. I remember wondering if they were going to do a 'swap' because (I think it was Vince) couldn't tell if Crush was teaming with Ax or Smash at the start and kept commenting on how similar Ax and Smash were. The heel turn seemed inevitable, though, as they'd brought the LOD in as faces who were 'gunning' for Demolition..

  • I have a question because I wasn't watching WWE back in 1990. When and how did Demolition turn heel? They were beloved faces at WM 6 but hated heels by SummerSlam.

  • @Edgehead10075 They faced Andre and Haku I think at WM6 and were good guys, but that summer they added crush and turned heel. Then I think Crush and Smash kicked Ax out or something like that, and went back to 2 instead

  • I think that Ax just retired, but was there a match where Demolition turned heel? I can't see them turning heel without some kind of explanation.

  • @neckisstiff Crush and Ax didn't kick out Ax. In the fall of 1990, Fuji was managing both the Orients and the Demos. On an episode of Superstars, LOD were in a match with the OE until the Demos interfered, making it 5-on-2 (or 6, if you count Fuji). WWF Pres Jack Tunney punished both heel teams: Demos would no longer wrestle with 3 guys and the Orients' tights would be different (they went from the tight spandex to the "loose" tights a la Tajiri)

  • When did Demolition take back Master Fuji as their manager?

  • @Edgehead10075 Don't know...maybe because Vince felt that Fuji needed more guys? During this time Heenan had Perfect, Rude, Haku and Barbarian, Hart had Valentine, Quake, Bravo and Honky and Slick had Warlord and Power & Glory.

  • fuji was no longer the manager of demolition at this point

  • @Edgehead10075 they beat up the hart foundation on the brother love show. ax didn't get beat down or anything he suffered food poisoning thinking it was his heart which is why crush was there. he then left and wrestled as axis the demolitioner in gwf

  • Thanks.

I think that Ax unsuccessfully sued the WWE for the rights to Demolition, as well.

  • I enjoyed how Jesse loved all the evil guys. I can also see why The Hart Foundation broke up. Jim probably got sick of Bret telling him to "take it easy."

  • lol Kato/Max Moon vs Demoltion

  • haha - look at the mullets on Paul Diamond and Joe Champ

aaah yes - I loved the Demolition when I watched them as a kid

"You open the door, we kick your teeth in !!!"

  • I got five bucks on Diamond and Champ.

  • Great idea!!! Demolition vs The Legion of Doom vs The APA"

  • I remember when Crush turned on Savage a few years later, it seemed as though they tried to recreate Demolition Crush, he was back to the makeup and back with Fuji.

  • No wonder the Hart Foundation broke up. Hit Man would not allow Jim to just get crazy and speak his mind. Instead, he had to cut him off with that "take it easy," nonsense. I guess The Anvil got fed up with that, too. Why not just let him blow off some steam?

  • I loved how the jobbers jobbed so "clean."

  • I noticed Paul Diamond from AWA

  • Man, i miss Demolition and the Hart Foundation. It has been a while since I watched WWE, but the tag team division doesn't have teams like these anymore. Oh the good old days. thanks for the vid.

  • phelpstherapper ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Why do so many people say that the inclusion of Crush was the beginning of the end for Demolition???

  • So many Demo fans just did not want the classic line-up to be disturbed. However, from what I read, Axe was struggling with health problems. He just had to turn over the post to a younger man in better shape.

  • Not just that, but the arrival of the Road Warriors was the death knell for the Demos. They were WWF's home-grown Warriors, and now with the real deal onboard, they were jobbed out.

I figure Crush was pretty green circa 1990 as well.

  • True. I would have to say the Road Warriors were more powerful. Crush was quite green in 1990, but he was a diamond in the rough.

  • Ax was out of shape and it sounded like he smoked 3 packs of Lucky Strike's a day... Crush was good for a short time, but there was no way they were keeping the late 80's Demolition Magic going

  • Three packs a day? That would wipe out anyone's breath. Maybe he did puff on that many cigarettes. Fans basically hate to see a classic line-up vanish into the pages of history. Even with Crush, Demo was starting to fade.

  • @sandinyourshoes DO U THINK CRUSH WAS WAY STRONGER BUT HAD LESS PERSONALITY THAN AXE?

  • @eclipse20082008, oh, definitely. Crush was much more powerful than either of the original two. However, the classic lineup will always be loved the most.

  • @sandinyourshoes I never understood why Crush was brought in Demolition. So was that the real reason?

Also...I never understood how everyone got Ax-Smash mixed up when Crush was around. (Theyd sneak in Ax-Smash and everyone got confused...I never understood that!)

  • @shadydawg555, many said that Ax was becoming ill and out of shape due to health problems. Thus, a younger and more powerful man was needed to replace him. Hence, the relief came in the form of Crush.

I, too, did not see why so many fans got Ax and Smash mixed up. To me they did not look alike. It was probably done for comic relief, and Jesse sometimes supported it.

Demo entertained me best when they tangled with teams they were no match for. This included Andre and "The Giant Babba."

  • @sandinyourshoes per wikapedia/answers it say Axe was very, very alllergic to shellfish and with their rising popularity McMahon didn't want to take the chance he ate something that kicked up his foiod allergy. While I like their theme music I was never a Demolition Fan and in fact draw the line of these promos in front of the screen with their name on it as part of when WWF started to become unwatchable. I prefer old school.

  • @Srd1126, old school just has a style that is not readily copied. Regarding Demo, Axe brought so much intensity to the duo, especially with his raspy voice. He and Smash were very tough customers, but they were no match at all for Andre and the Giant Baba. In fact, I doubt the two could beat Andre in a handicap match.

  • Jobber Jabronis are about to get pounded

  • WWF's random jobbers always looked funny as hell. It was always some pale white pasty dude with a mullet and the most generic looking full body suit lol. If it wasn't a pale white pasty dude with a mullet, it was a pale white pasty dude with curly short hair and a Tom Selleck mustache hahaha.

  • Where's mr fugi?

  • @gtz1975 Demolition and Fuji parted ways at the 1988 Survivor Series when they became faces.

  • "Aaaaand down with the elbow!"

Ah, vintage Vince commentating. I have to admit, I kind of miss it, if for no other reason then the nostalgia.

    Oh what a maneuver there!

  • @yaburu I loved Vince's confusion over the fact that there was a third member. Meanwhile, he's running the show backstage.

  • That was a well kept secret back. The fans just thought Vince was a Commentator ath the time and Jack Tunney was actually running the WWF.

  • @yaburu: Don't forget VInce's famous "1, 2, HE GOT... no he didn't." LMAO!

  • god this shit is old. i was hardly fucken conscious when this was happenin.

  • that guy kinda looks like the guy from the misfits.

  • Watching Demolition over the years, I gotta say each one was better than the other at one of the three major factors for a character.

    Ax: Best talker

    Smash: Best look

    Crush: Best worker

When Crush debuted alot of his stuff was way ahead of the other two and some of his moves were not seen very often if at all in the WWF. A knee drop off the top rope was not that common, and the tiltawhirl backbreaker was a crazy move back then.

  • Exactly! Tho Ax was good on the mic to, just not as good as Smash.

  • @guardian08527 crush was green as shit when he first got there, how can you say he is a better worker then berry darsow smash

  • @guardian08527 That's cuz Crush was younger he brought a new energy level to Demolition. R.I.P. Bryan Adams

  • @guardian08527 Crush had some good moves, but Ax and Smash were better talkers and workers they also worked better as a team. I will say I always thought Crush hit the decapitation a lot better then Ax. Ax looked really slow and the move didn't really look good until Crush did it, looked a lot more painful.

  • Wait...is that *the* Paul Diamond of Badd Company and Orient Express 2.0?

  • What is the point of having jobbers?

  • yup.. back then the good matches were booked only for the big events like wrestle mania. later on thanks to wcw the matches picked up and good talent wrestled good talent. thats when vince had to change the story lines around a create better booking.

  • The point of jobbers is for established or new talent to show their stuff on a "dummy" rather than another established superstar

  • Yeah how old are you @MaijinMando, 10?

  • Paul Diamond and Joe Champ don't look happy.

  • lol look at the haircuts of those jobbers that demolition are wrestling... classic stuff

  • Man Bret sounds like a Canadian more in that interview then EVER before...what's that aboot?

  • McMahon was so conservative back in the day that he made Smash wear a kneepad on his arm to hide his eagle tattoo.

    How times change.

  • Covering the tattoo wasn't being conservative, it was to keep him from being recognized as Krusher Kruschev, part of the Koloff family in the NWA

  • @tomwalker389 LOL ya, now he lets chicks who are barely 18 in the slutiest clothes possible with raunchy scene acting. yup times have changed.

  • @tomwalker389 Why? Surely some wrestlers had tattoos,no?

  • @MickeyLynott

Only Rick Rude and Harley Race. But McMahon didn't want Smash to look like a REAL life biker. The irony of it. That's why Demolition had these little BDSM bondage spikes that you could drape on a sofa and lie on.

And when The Road Warriors came in, their spikes remained normal sized, but they were made of RUBBER! They flipped about like orange dildos.

  • @tomwalker389 Really? The LOD spikes were rubber? They looked really real on TV!

  • @MickeyLynott

They were real all right. Real rubber.

  • @tomwalker389 Haha.I remember those spikes really f*cked up the Hasbro action figures.

  • @tomwalker389 I believe that was more to hide his previous identity of a Russian named Krusher Krusheve...these guys back in the day were Gangsta!

  • @bigpapapapa

What's there to hide, hehe? In McMahon's world back then, WWF fans "didn't know" that other federations existed.

  • It's a real shame too, Crush and Smash could have kept Demolition as a dominant force, but Vince just let them go to waste since he got The Road Warriors.

  • There's no way Crush and Smash could have competed once the Road Warriors entered in the promotion. The entire purpose of Demolition was to emulate the RWs who were vastly superior. And Ax was the one who gave Demolition its credibility. Ax slammed Andre and challenged Hogan for the title during his solo run. Crush and Smash competed for biggest dork in the federation when they went solo.

  • I liked Smash Darsow's gimmick as the Repo Man. And Crush had a good dolo run in the WWE to. But you are right about them splitting the Demols' up months after L.O.D. debuted. Shame L.O.D.'s run in the WWE didn't have much longevity.

  • I think VMJ let the Nasty Boys go to waste more than Demolition.

  • holy shit! jobbers! I miss seeing jobbers!

  • Boy even back in 1990 Bret was playing the whiner role wondering the legal ramifications of Crush being a new member of Demolition publicly to Jack Tunney would be.

  • Luscious Johnny V

    Ax

    Smash 1

    Smash 2

    Mr Fuji

    Crush

    Blast

    Hux

    Nitro

Any other members of the Demolition family ?

  • I don't even know Blast, Hux, and Nitro, lol

  • @TrueTalkTV Don't know the last two, but Blast was Ax's tag team partner on the indy circuit.

  • i prefer demo over pretty much any tag team ever, except MAYBE the rockers....certainly over LoD, Stieners, etc.

  • Bushwackers...?

  • LOL I remember watching this shit on TV.

  • Demolition Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how were they

  • Congratulations to all the Demo-bashers on here for tying in the dumbass of the month contest.

  • *Price is Right loser horn plays after that failing comment*

  • Oh, look, an ill-informed halfwit has attempted to mock me with an unimaginative quasi-witticism. Good, I was beginning to feel left out of the YouTube experience.

  • "Unimaginative", like the "dumbass of the month comment" you made?. Whatever dude, go back to reading your dictionary, clown.

  • You'd think a dazzling riposte like that would scare me away, and yet look, here I am.

Dictionary? Am I to understand you consider a few of the words I used as falling into the "big" category? How alarming.

  • how were they a road warrior rip off? they were in the WWF first......

  • yeah but LoD (the road warriors) go back further before they joined WWF/E. Demolition was (alegedly) made to be a road warriors clone.

  • I think Crush came on when one of the original Demolition members had some type of a heart problem.

  • developed an alergy of shell fish.

  • That was Ax. He ate some shellfish and his heart got screwed up. So they brought in Crush through the "Freebird Rule". All three of them were recognized as the Tag Team Champs, but only two at a time could defend the belts on a single night.

At this time Ax was more or less the "manager" of the group.

  • Oh, wow. Shellfish? THAT'S what messed Ax up? I just knew he was in bad HEALTH. Never knew WHY though. That's interesting.

How did they explain Ax's disappearance from television, though? Did they do the whole "There can only be two" rule, and Ax was just GONE? Or did they play it out first and THEN he was gone?

  • Eventually, they lost the Tag Team Championship to the Hart Foundation. Shortly after this, the WWF President, Jack Tunney, stated that Demolition can only be a two-man tag team. So Ax was asked to leave in favor of the younger Crush. Of course the REAL reason he left was to get his health back.

Smash and Crush didn't last long as a duo. After getting their butts kicked by Legion of Doom and The Rockers, they broke up. Crush developed that "Hawaiian" gimmick and Smash became Repo Man.

  • Yeah. I knew they lost to The Harts at SSlam 90, and I knew about their solo gimmicks. I just didn't know exactly HOW they broke up the trio.

Was Ax asked to leave the group ON SCREEN after the Tunney ruling? Or was there just the Tunney ruling, and Ax was never seen again?

  • If I remember Ax was just gone after the Tunney ruling. His last match I think was with him, Smash & Crush vs. L.O.D. & WWF World Champ-Ultimate Warrior. I think Demol's last bout was at Wrestlemania 7, putting over Tenru & Kitao.

  • That was Survivor Series. Mr Perfect captained Demolition and Kerry Von Eric was on Warriors team.

  • Ah and there was also a regular 6 man tag match at house shows and a TV taping.

  • Actually set up the eventual Smash and Crush only Demolition storline was that The 3 of them and Mr. Fuji violenty attacked LOD [on Superstars or Wrestling Challenge I forget] and then Tunney made the decision that there could only be 2 members. So Ax just disappeared after that ruling and Smash and Crush eventually jobbed out to LOD and Tenryu and Kitao [a future UFC fighter] at Wrestlemania 7.

  • Ax was phased out caused he was having real life heart problems, that was the reason Crush was brought in, in the first place not to mention returning to being heels with Fuji managing. Adding Crush was the first nail to phasing out Demolition cause of LOD arrival.

  • Demolition were s&m outfit-wearing clowns.

  • or M&S =)
