JR is breaking kayfabe LOL He's exposing McMahon as a owner of the "Federation" to everyone else he was just the announcer or play-by-play commentator on TV
Did anyone knew if Vince was the owner? me...I knew he was the owner going back to 1992 when I was 10. When allegations were made of the sex scandal by Pat Patterson, Terry Garvin & Mel Philliphs. Talk about a public relations nightmare!
I liked JR's ranting it was something that was needed & quickly the angle was dropped.
Sickening how WWE likes to bully & humiliate people with bell's palsy. Why did JR put up with that crap? Karma is going to bite the McHitler family when they all die. Hopefully very soon.
At the time this happened hall and nash were not locked into contrats yet with wcw. when wwf did this angle wcw lost it and thought hall and nash went back to wwf. wcw then gave hall and nash an extra like 400000 dolars to sign contracts locked in. nice pay day aint it? lol
@bobbymidnight316 WTF?? You don't know what you're talking about. Hall and Nash had signed 3 year contracts with WCW a few months before this happened. This was WWF desperation at it's worst.
@sprasher No I do know what im talking about i watched a shoot interview w/ nash and he said they were working on soft deals with wcw nothing locked up yet. the fake diesel and razor act fooled wcw into giving them more money. i think it was on a interview he shot for wwe classic. one of the round table things they did and this one was on the nwo i believe its on youtube actually check it out
Lol @ Heel JR. I remember watching Superstars and being stoked for the returns of Diesel and Razor Ramon and outwalked Kane and this guy. My face dropped, being older, I now look back and see how WWE ribbed me. I applaud them now fo
This is when the WWF/WWE was feeling the heat from WCW. This kind of served as the starting point of a change in their product. The point where they knew that kid friendly product would soon meet it's demise and become the second golden age for WWE known as The Attitude Era.
@facephoenix Don't kid yourself. They didn't have a plan at all. They can thank Stone Cold Steve Austin for coming up with his character AND re-energizing the company. Without Austin, there would be no WWF/WWE today.
@bull864 You do understand that when you run a TV program you have to run ideas by the producers and bookers and get their approval before you can do ANYTHING on air. Austin was ONE of many reasons why they found success. Austin was a major piece of the puzzle but not the sole catalyst. Vince, Shawn, Angle, Rock, Taker, HHH were also the reasons you tuned in. The slowly built a better product as a team. Austin was great but it took the company to see his potential & refine it. It's a business.
@facephoenix I agree with some of that, but in 1997 and 1998 Austin was the reason people watched. The Rock, DX, Angle etc. made their mark in 1999. Without Austin, the WWE would have gone belly-up in 1998, maybe even late '97.
One, Jim Ross needs to be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine. Two, whenever Jim Ross is not onscreen, all the other characters should be asking "Where's Jim Ross?" Three...
@TheDorkKnight -Jim Ross is a nice guy, period. He likes to eat, talk and sell barbique sauce. Him being a heel, is like some chior boy wearing a Psycho Sid Vicious Holloween Mask for two hours out of his life.
fuck you retards, the warrior was bigger than hogan ever was, he did MORE for the biz and for the fans and kids in the day, you have no respect therfor stfu you have no place to talk about shit son.
The fake Diesel was Kane. He couldn't pull it off from the first second cause you could tell it was, at that time, the guy who was playing Dr. Isaac Yankem, which was Glen Jacobs (Kane). He just looked like Isaac Yankem with longer hair.
The guy playing Razor looked a little more like Scott Hall, but still not enough to fool anybody either.
Most fans finally realized the 2 guys had joined wcw, so they switched over if they wanted to see them. This only hurt wwf if anything.
LMAO at Good ol Jr Tryin to be a bad guy sorry jr just isnt the fit for you we love you too much thumbs up if your dream as akid was to be next Jim Ross
Though it was dropped, this angle was way ahead of its time. You never saw anything like this back in 1996. There were never any angles where someone would criticize the inner workings of the business and bash upper management, so to speak. At the time, you were not sure if this was scripted or not. Angles like this have been copied by WCW and are now a common occurrence. The Fake Razor was absolutely hilarious which makes this angle even better.
@smgaydon Actually for months before this, Hogan, Nash, Hall and Bischoff were exposing the inner workings of the business. What the hell do you think the nWo was about? That started in May. This JR thing, which was awful, was in September. WCW was already doing this for 3 months.
I always thought it was a riot how Savio Vega just runs down and beats him up for a few seconds before the show ends. Seriously, it doesn't get more random than that.
Why!? Why!? would they create such an abomination! Why create a fake Razor Ramone? I know that Vince was probably pissed at Hall jumpn ship, but the only people he's fuckn over by creating this character, is the fans. Fuck the fake Razor, n fuck whoever came up with the idea. They should b ashamed
@thuganomics84 it was pretty fucking gay, but they did it to try and recreate Razor because of how popular he was and how much revenue the Razor Ramone character generated, but yeah soooo fucking dumb for them to ever attempt this. They did the same thing with Warrior too before, failed big time
@thuganomics84 On the plus side though I recently heard that when the WCW execs heard Razor & Diesel were returning to the WWF they thought Nash & Hall were jumping back, effectively ruining them, so they offered both of them $400,000 each to keep them in WCW. Hall & Nash signed the contrats with a smile, while the execs were feeling like complete morons when "Razor & Diesel" debuted. $800,000 to keep them from doing something they had no intention of doing.
@FerretJohn Hahahaha. Another classic move from the good ole WCW management. They really were a bunch of clowns. How they ever stayed on top for 2 years is a mystery. I'm surprised they didnt fuck it up quicker.
What also sucked about this angle (one of the few times in 1996 I actually flipped to Raw instead of Nitro) that they wound up cutting off the show for time, so they didn't even get to the angle itself. Think of it this way, even if this was a spoof angle they were actually trying to capitalize on what were now WCW's stars to bring in ratings for their show. Think of how far the WWF had fallen that they were now the clear #2 promotion ripping off the #1 promotion for cheap heat.
After 15 years, I'm still trying to figure out what the WWF was trying to accomplish here.At the time, there was a known lawsuit WWF brought against WCW for passing Nash/Hall off as still being WWF.A few morons thought they might actually be bringing Hall/Nash back that night. Then they bring these two schlubs out, and never did anythign with them. Were they mocking WCW?Themselves?Ross?Trying to prove they could plug anyone into the gimmick and make it work?Just made WWF seem bush league, 2nd rate
Funny as the crowd gives an initial pop when they first see the fake razor, then just dies once they realize its a fake --- then settles into a "man this is some bullshit" reaction all at once.
@TurgeonFan77132 It's was too obvious from JR, who was trying too hard... Because JR is too much of a good guy, too emotive and people know him too well too easily ;) Just look at it, it is just weird and odd from JR to do it... That's does not work with him.
I know J.R. is a great commentator, a fan favourite and he has pull backstage (he's one of the main guys who gets things done isn't he?) but does anyone find him slightly threatening? As in there's this whole other ruthless side to him that we've never seen?
wow. they ended their major show cutting off a fight with a mid carder and a replacement for one of their former stars that "went down south" which really made them look pathetic. no wonder wwe was getting killed in the ratings at this time
Does anyone know when the fake Diesel showed up and if there is a video on here of it? I'm trying to find his debut. I've only seen fake Razor's debut. :P
You got to remeber the WWF did this because WCW had a referee Nick Patrick involved in the story line for the NWO so the WWF came up with the announcer bit as well as Vince was proveing he had the rights to the name Razor Ramon and Deisel.
i remember seeing the fake diesel and razor. i didn't even know about wcw till i was 12 or so. by the way in canada there was no monday night wars, cause they broadcast nitro on tuesdays.

@SUCKAGOTPLAYED Worked shoot by JR. and i think it was to show hall & nash that they were playing characters. that they were replaceable in those parts. maybe that was the logic behind it all?

I KNOW JR IS SO EMBARRASSED OF THIS MOMENT..BUT I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHAT WAS VINCE'S LOGIC BEHIND THIS????? IT HURTS TO LOOK!
SUCKAGOTPLAYED 1 year ago
@SUCKAGOTPLAYED Worked shoot by JR. and i think it was to show hall & nash that they were playing characters. that they were replaceable in those parts. maybe that was the logic behind it all?

Not everyone. JR seems like a legit piece of shit, out of character. Watching him speak with his crooked face is really disgusting.
