I can believe it. I used to be a consultant who was a staunch supporter of Microsoft technologies and avoided Linux. Now? I am writing software using PHP and Perl script on Linux boxes. It's reaching a point where it is just not worth it to try to stay up on the latest Microsoft technologies. Plus, Microsoft's quality is going downhill with all of its outsourcing. I am becoming an avid Firefox user because Internet Explorer is turning out to be a memory hog that locks up frequently.
Use Linux. Its mature, its no harder to install than Windows. Linux doesn't spy on you, send hidden messages to Microsoft or do anything you don't explicitly tell it to do. It doesn't require you to pay Bill $100-$250.00 every couple years for the latest version.
I want to thank Bill Gates for the success of Linux - seriously. All the talented software engineers that are replaced by h1b visas, write open source software, making Linux better and better and better and better.
