  • Wonderful.. Really enjoyed this one

  • @Sasksaint Thanks for watching.

  • Lovely. How do you ever get anything else done when you can pass the time this way?

  • I sometimes work while I'm playing. Seriously. Each thing uses a different half of the brain.

  • just to let u know as a fellow uke player, most of the sound quality comes from ur strings. so for anyone wondering why their uke doesnt sound very ncie then get higher quality strings. dont go around looking for 500 dollar ukes. hope this helps

  • Thank you for the comment.

  • Really beautiful playing Ken, and what a lovely sounding uke. You must be so happy with it. I love your improvised videos. I'm always amazed at how you do it.

  • Thanks Michelle. So am I!

  • What a sweet tone! Nice improv as well.

  • Thanks very much.

  • Very nice sounding ukulele. What kind of wood is it? Koa?

  • Helium koa.

  • Wow! What a sweet sounding uke.

  • Yes, it is.

  • Love to watch you play, Ken.

  • Thank you.

  • Absolutely lovely.

  • Thank you Stew.

  • one of my favorites ken!

  • Thank you.

  • Probably my favorite improv of yours. So carefree.

  • I appreciate your comment, Don.

  • Love these longer improvs Ken. Great to listen to while I'm working on the PC.

The P.H. Uke sounds so rich 'n warm.

  • It has a very different sound to anything else I have played.

  • Gorgeous sounding instrument Ken.

Is it strung with Worth strings?

  • No, I want ed a higher tension. I have used D'Addario Pro Arte.

  • That was beautiful. :)

  • Thanks.

  • Ken again you remind me why I love these little instruments. Even though I cant play mine that well. Thanks

  • They are fun to play, aren't they?

  • Beautiful--both the playing and the ukulele!

  • Thank you J.

  • really, really nice ken.

  • Thanks Jeff.

  • great job ken

  • Hi Stephen.

  • I love the riding G7 you have in this. Sounds great Ken! The only recommendation I have is to not use any of those reverb effects. The uke sounds good on its own! ;)

  • My attic has terrible acoustics though, Matt.

  • Still sounds wonderful though. I have watched it a few time now. I love your improvs.

  • Wow Ken! A seriously beautiful improv! You are definately the bestest at improv! Have listened to it a few times already. Actually, I'm a bit disappointed it's not 10 minutes long, or a whole day, shame about the YT video length restrictions! :-D X

  • I will do a 10 minute one next time Ruth.

  • Yeeeeeeeeees!!! Promise? Maybe you could add a synth as well :-P X

  • I'm afraid that is unlikely, Ruth.

  • thats a great soundin uke

    :D

  • Yes, it is.

  • Wonderful, so beautiful!

  • Thanks.

  • I'm always impressed with the tone you bring out of any uke, Ken. Gotta love that vibrato at around 1:05!

  • Thank you, Sebi.

  • Lovely sound and great impro Ken! That uke is a beauty!

  • Yes, it is.

  • You do the best improvs.

  • Thanks Deach.

  • Do you have hard strings on it? Your touch sounds so clean with no intonation problems and yet seem to be pressing down relatively hard on the frets. Awesomely clean, I should add Ken.

  • They are D'Addario Pro Arte. They are not particularly hard, but have a punch with not too many overtones. It makes the Howlett sound incredibly pure, but delicate too.

  • Very relaxing, beautiful sound. Great Uke!

Lets me reconsider to get a Tenor some day.

    Regards, Wilfried

  • Hi Wilfired. It does have a lovely tone. The tenor tone is really complex.

  • That's a very rich sounding ukulele, Ken. Beautifully balanced tone. It sounds crisp but it has an understated depth to it. Lovely.

  • Well-described, Tony. It has a very complex tone, this uke.

  • Really great playing Ken- I am keen to try out a tenor, I have never even held one !!

  • Thanks Caroline.

A tenor? You will either love it or hate it.

  • It sounds unbelievably well, Ken. And I'm at the second listening, so I don't think it's too long. :-)

    Paolo

  • Thanks very much, Paolo.

  • very nice Ken.

  • Hi Russ. Thanks.

  • Well, I think that Pete sounds great in my headphones. Great as always, Ken.

    Paolo

  • Beautiful Ken!

  • Thanks HH.

  • Your improvisation are always worth hearing.

  • Thanks Ralf.

  • wow, that is an outstandingly beautiful piece you played right there. and that Uke is truly another masterpiece of Mr. Howlett. It's a pity though that you stopped. I would have listened to your improvisation for another hour or two!

  • Wow, thanks! I always think I have gone on a bit too long.

  • Very beautiful sounds.

  • Thank you.

  • Beautiful

  • Thanks.

  • very nice Ken

  • Thanks K.

  • I saw that a store in Seattle Washington had a Pete Howlett ukulele for sale. I was in Victoria last week and thought about going to see it. Yours sounds so great when you play it.

  • Thanks Lynda. They all sound different. this one has the purest tone.
