  • your lover in captivity..

  • blackmore's night's version is way better.

  • @winggoddess ok

  • One of my favorite Leonard Cohen songs. He's so raw, so caught up in emotion, he practically yells the last verse of the song. It's visceral, real, and amazing!!! You can actually hear pain in his voice! He overpowers the sparce music. It's a poem recited over song. Pretty intense, and one of his best! It's unique in the fact that there's nothing else by him, or anyone else quite like it.

  • This Is a Butchering of this Song. He deserves to be Punched in the Face for this.

  • His shouting in this song really overpower me...

    Obeisance Mr.Cohen

  • i think of Cohen as an artist who in my times of despair teaches me that . i am not alone. and at time his sense of humor . leads me to realize that i am not the only one to see the irony in a world gone astray

  • I love the angry voice of Cohen in this song (like "Diamonds in the Mine"), genious!.

  • I have a shirt which always reminds me this song when I am wearing it - it has greensleeves.

  • this song hurt my ears after hearing a beautiful a capella of it...its a good song but the style is just so much different...

  • Look mom! Christian lesbian sex! 8D

  • @EinsDaVinGaliDar obviously you re blind or what

  • time stood still

  • My second favorite Cohen song next to "Don't go home with your hard-on." So emotional, you can hear the pain in his voice. So viceral and real, it's just moving and capitivating. I can't even remember how many times I have listened to it. The whole album "New Skin For the Old Ceremony" is amazing. They even reissued it on VINYL! (You can get a copy on Ebay). If your a fan get it. True poetry in music, better than Dylan!

  • The ice cream van when I was a child played Greensleeves, I wished they played this version.

  • wonderful

  • I find that the greatest joy, now that I am already a committed lover of Leonard Cohen's poetry and music, is to discover more and more of his work, recited, written, given in interviews...such a complex and beautiful human being.

  • @sweetgypsywife Saw him in concert back in October. A true warm humble man. What a show! Too bad he didn't play Greensleeves.

  • amazing works...

how did LC manage to convert Greensleeves to such a glorious touching version...

    respect...

  • nummer 1!

  • So beautiful. Cohen is a genius.

  • I have this sheet music

  • He's a genius

  • Yes, he certainly is

  • Just finished the "Various Positions" biography and it is truly wonderful!

  • The greatest man alive today. In fact, the greatest man to ever have lived.

  • silly you

  • "I sang my songs, I told my lies,

to lie between your matchless thighs"....

    Fantastic parody :o)

  • THIS ROCKS!

  • Masterpiece.

  • truly

  • GREATEST PERFORMER, WRITER EVER!!!

  • After you listen to a few of his songs, you wonder how Leonard Cohen can still be alive. In fact, you wonder how YOU can still be alive - he writes soundtracks to suicides.

  • It is so strange that you say that. I never thought that his songs are soundtracks to suicide just incredible sad sometimes. Twenty or more years ago I played Cohen on guitar and some lady thought those where suicide songs. Very strange indeed.

  • Sad songs can be very uplifting for some. Nothing oozes suicide from Cohen's songs for me. If anything I feel very much alive listening too his songs.

  • "...Then I saw you naked in the early dawn,

oh, I hoped you would be someone new..."

    sob
