  • One of my assignments in law school was to read the entire transcript of this case, analyze the evidence, and then write my own report about what I thought about it. All I can say is the people who went AGAINST Latimer didn't know of the horrid painful suffering this child was going through every single second of every single day! These people clearly do not have children who have ever been through such pain that all there was to do was relieve them of it. This is ignorance at it's best.

  • God bless Robert Latimer. I love when people have the courage to take a powerful stand for what's right, even if it's against the popular opinion of morally bankrupt religious fucktards or even the law.

  • It is my understanding that without Man intervention she would of been dead a long time before this loving father would of add to make such decision. Between the right of a corporate society and a father, it is very simple to me who add the right and obligation to choose. In today world one would end-up in prison for letting a animal suffer what that child add and would of suffered in the hands of the doctors Frankenstein who add absolutely no rights in this case.

  • Rex is great....

But on a censorship note...CBC didnt allow commenting on the latest interview for english....but if you were french you can comment all you want...

CBC is starting to show signs of FOXation

  • I feel there is no reason for anyone to take a person's life who has a disability. It is inhumane and ignorant. Just because Laura couldn't communicate she still has thoughts, feelings and emotions. Everyone with a disability should be treated with respect and dignity. They should not be frowned upon just because they are different, they should be treated like everyone else in society.

  • @EquestrianLuv101 Did you know that she was scheduled for surgeries for which she couldn't take morphine or any pain killers because her body couldn't digest them?

  • @MegaHayley33 Adding to this, in fact she was not able to take ANY sort of painkiller because she was already on medication to prevent seizures, & if this medication was mixed with a painkiller it would cause more powerful seizures. The final scheduled surgery (which was obviously never performed) would have caused even more after the fact. This was testified by a doctor witness to the case. He said: "The post operative apin can be incredible". Imagine without painkillers. People are ignorant.

  • Rex is one of the last few intelligent newscasters in Canada, bravo.

  • He was acting out of kindness. I'm sure if Tracey had the ability to communicate she would have wanted to have been peacefully suffocated with CO. Not being able to eat solid food unsupervised, capped at a mental age of 5 months, multiples seizures daily, and chronic unbearable pain, does that sound like life as we know it? Robert Latimer is my hero I am so happy he is free now. Canadian Law cannot be black and white, clearly, the non-religious, logical minds side with Latimer on this one.

  • Mixed feelings about this case. I hate to see someone in pain but he didn't really have the right to be the cause of her death.

  • I hope none of us ever has to face the decision Robert Latimer had to face. He's just now getting more time out of the half way house - It is my sincere hope that his remaining years are peaceful. I understand his actions and I understand the law - but sometimes the law is a ass.

  • i disagree completely. if hes let out its not like hes gonna go on a killing rampage killing ivery disabled person around. he has 2 other kids to take care of. murders and rapists are being let our before him and he gets LIFE?! ridiculous!

  • This man could not stand to see his child in pain. There was nothing doctors could do with the pain. She was taking anti-seisure medication to limit the amount of seisures per day, so she couldn't mix painkillers with it, or else it would lead to a variety of other problems.

He couldn't stand it. Honestly... He couldn't.

I say they should of put her down with doctors profecionally in a more humane way.

  • Read the story! Read the whole story, and you'll understand what this poor child has been through!

Pain.. All throughout her life. Muliple surguries, a 50 degree curvature in her spine, doctors drilled 2 rods down her spine, in her hips, and they popped out. Her spine was beyond repair. She was finally limited to about 5 to 6 seisures a day! She was crying out in severe pain. The pain was growing worse every YEAR.

  • Murder is murder no matter what the victim. this guy is sick for killing his daughter and so is any parent who does the same to their kids

  • One man (her father) decided that she should die. It wouldn't have been necessary if a Doctor hadn't decided that she should live (despite being without oxygen for a prolonged period of time during birth). Medication / technology has the ability to prolong life that should not (naturally)... while it also has the ability to do the opposite. It is certainly not a black and white event.

  • Lots of people commit crimes for what they believe to be compassionate reasons. That doesn't bring back the life that was taken. Robert Latimer has won the public relations battle on this because he murdered someone with disabilities who did not have her own voice. Any parent murdering a non-disabled child would not have been treated the same. He was definitely no risk to re-offend, but the parole board did not have at is disposal a means of saying "murder of disabled is still murder"

  • I CANNOT STAND THIS ASSONINE JERK

But, I will admit when I listened to his opinion he regurgitated what many people were thinking that I could see.

  • Robert Latimer should never have been sent to jail. Anyone with an ounce of brain-matter should be able to see that what he did, he did out of love, compassion and mercy.

If someone had allowed an animal to suffer as Tracy suffered, they'd (rightfully) be charged and gone to jail. What he did was to end suffering, not prolong it.

When Karla Homolka is allowed out of prison and futher, allowed to breed, and Robert denied parole, we know the justice system has failed. Utterly.

  • But also, Laura Latimer( Tracy's mother) said when the police interviewed her that she did not cry when Tracy died.:s She also commented that " Tracy died as soon as she was born" she said that because of her disabbilities. But Tracy Latimer did not die when she was born, but she died when her father killed her. How could her father sit in the box of his truck and watch his daughter die for over 30 minutes? There is two diffeent sides you can take to this story. You have chosed one, yet have i.

  • @Blacksmith1964 Amen.

  • @Blacksmith1964 Fuckin rights!

  • get the facts right old man

  • Rex Murphy is always a voice of reason. Very well thought out and honest explanation of Robert Latimer's situation and his actions. Thanks, Rex !!
