1:50 is that the same chanting from Alejandro Jodorowsky's film "El Topo"? It's even more ironic that Jim Morrison and El Topo look very identical with the leather attire (maybe Alejandro Jodorowsky was inspired by this film to make El Topo).
@67kneil Its technically not legal, you cant get a "proper" copy of it; his "creative estate" never allowed this to be released.
Believe it or not, Pamela Courson's mother is the one who has the final say to this ever being released;during her lifetime anyway, the Morrison family has no say.
This is kinda representing life, that's the way I saw it anyway, like what you thought when you saw this ilm is relating to your attitude toward life. Me, I wanted to skip, never saw the meaning of the scene, but eventually realised you had to be continuous, experience every second of the scene until the end where there would be closure, but no final conclusion. I dunno I'm bored :)
the first scene is filmed at a grotto in the Angeles Crest Forest - I remember it as a teen from the sixties. Now it is strewn with so much garbage and graffiti you don't want to see it. The water is freezing. Probably dried up due to catastrophic global change. (No snow melt.)
@bamboosa@bamboosa no you are wrong... I know where it was filmed. you are mistaken. it was filmed at the present day Indian Trails over in Palm Springs.
As Jim said 'There is no story to it, it has no commercial appeal I don't think. It was just a test for future projects.' I really think he would have gone on to be a really great film maker. HWY was ahead of it's time in many ways and Jim was testing the waters with camera angles and capturing real life. Quite funny that he told his friend on the phone he had killed someone and his friend didnt know he was filming HWY and just acting lol.
Where was this movie made? It looks like it must be somewhere out west, which is one of my favorite parts of the country. I read the book, "No One Here Gets Out Alive" but I don't remember if it said or not.
As fans of Jim and Doors, we know about the bootlegg copies of this and other material like Feast of Friends, but the quality of the film is ok even is 40 years old!
Como lo dijiste..."otra faceta de este icono del rock".
Wonder if Gus Van Sant saw this before making 'Last Days'. The opening of Van Sant's film bears a striking resemblance to this. i.e Swimming in the water fall, walking around a natural environment.
let me say "last days" is a shit film documentary or any kind of media.I bought the dvd and its pretencious, pompous, false pose of introspectiveness, artless, and a rather long etc..it made me lose my time and money, just like 5 secs of that thing called last day: the scene of the girl wits her ass naked geting out of the bed cuz remembers of my girl going half naked going to bath after some good time.
I recomend 2 anyone 2 try catching on utube that part and avoid that tedioussonofabitch film
