His limp was, in fact, psychosomatic. As Sherlock said when they first met in the lab. He never actually needed his cane. The adrenaline at the time, I guess, just helped him get over the mental injury.

@LukePisonline And I'm a straight 28 year old gal. Relationships do not observe the boundaries that we set for them. You relate to the feeling in the video, as well as the humour/entertainment aspect. That's not supposed to be an indicator of your sexuality, only that you're a human being. With great taste! :D Anyway, slash is not about sex (though it may include mentions of), it's about romance and psychic development, accepting/integrating our personal quirks and desires - whatever they are.

Sherlock has a hard time seeing himself as likeable because everyone hates him and tells him to piss off. He still continues on his path, but doesn't really trust that Watson actually does like him as a person. At first, anyway. To accept that in "real life" people can just like you or not like you for you (as opposed to there being arch-enemies in the Game etc) means to be vulnerable. Moriarty in this sense is Holmes' own self-preservation.

But there genuinely isn't anything wrong with guys having boyfriends - love & respect=love & respect; straight people can be very nasty to their mates just as much as gay people, there is no intrinsic value/sin to sexual orientation. Sherlock's problem is of a different nature, however: he's a genius, by definition holding out for the Perfect One (is bored otherwise).

About slash goggles, I really believe that we live in an open enough time now, that they don't need to hide these things. It can be open and still decent and awesome, because slash itself isn't about sex, it's about the entire psychological dimension: the characters' reasons, conceptions, how everything works up to their involvement. It's pure and innocent and so much fun.
