The newest PCGamer magazine has the game for free on the disc included with the magazine. It plays by a DOSbox emulater. The cool thing is that, once installed, it practically runs itself, at least on my system.

Now if only I can get Master of Magic to work....

look at dosbox and for a dos game archive, this game is no more copyrighted now

I guarantee it has not been released as freeware. Microprose has been absorbed long ago but I think Hasbro still has the rights (and not Firaxis).

Nobody cares though :) As the person above states you can find it from the bowels of ze interweb quite easilly and dosbox runs it perfectly! (dosbox is freeware dos emulator)

download the DOS-emulator "Dosbox" (freeware). all the old good dos-games are running with it

Love this game - played it to death back in the day. The music was amazing too - I've managed to download the midi files from the net but just not the same when you aren't playing the game.

WTB a playable Windows Vista version too...

I first played this game on an old pc with no sound... Then I bought my own pc after working afternoons on a local farm after school - I was thirteen... I completely fell in love with the music! Loved those native american flutes! Don't think I've ever loved a game as much as this

I've been playing this recently. I never realized how broken it is! Sea squares sometimes do not give the expert x3 bonus and the building costs are bust! Didnt realize those facts when I was 14 though :P
