I have loved this poem since i first read in in the 1980's and it has been my favorite ever since. When i watch my four years old daughter playing in the garden i sometimes think of tolkiens words when he describes the children of man playing in valinor. I wish a dream as wonderful as this song may come to her some night and she will walk in dream on the forgotten path no adult can ever go. Thanks Colin, your song fills me with joy and sadness...
This poem is so adorably sweet. You can just imagine all these cute little kids chasing each other around with silver watering cans and strings of daisies around their necks.
And I love the tune. It's so sad. It gives a whole new feel to it, but one that fits perfectly.
Nice melody, but I think the poem is a love song for Edith (Tolkien's wife) saying her: "I knew you before I know you, from childhoold, in paths of dreams which go to fairie realm".
Maybe, maybe. All I know about her is that she inspired Tolkien to write his story about Beren and Tinuviel, and that on their tombstones, beneath their names and whatever else is written, it says "Beren" and "Luthien". He must've loved her with his heart and soul, or so i think.
I was simply blown away when I found this. To discover that someone had actually composed music to accompany this... I am speechless, and none of my meager words can express my emotions. But then, I think such expression is unnecessary. There are tears in my eyes even as I write this message. God bless you.
Listening with all my heart, Col... you are truly a beautiful human being! You soak up all the pain and beauty of the world and forge it into song. Cannot tell you how much I'm enjoying your music. And these Tolkien pieces... pure enchantment!
Tolkien would be proud of works like this and all others of Colin's work but he is probably rolling in his grave with what happened to his trilogy from Peter Jackson.
Hi Colin, hope all is well.....

Well I do think it was one of the best written poems he created, and you did an excellent job in bringing life to it Colin.

Beautiful! Although the images didn't fit what I imagined when I read the poem, this is a bittersweet and poignant interpretation.
