I do not like Sato haters, he has had some good moments and deservedly made the podium . Japanese F1 drivers had a bad reputation mainly because of the influx of prat drivers of the Taki Inoue ilk. Japanese drivers also have a more aggressive driving style and are aso influenced by the damp climate in Japan. How many useful F1 drivers have come from the USA or Russia etc.
@hicwron iv'e noticed there are not many good Japanese f1 drivers it may be that this race discipline is just not for them. I've tried looking at race winner records, and I don't think a Japanese driver has ever won a race.
while this was an exceptional drive from Sato, i think Kamui Kobayashi shows great potential to be Japan's excellent F1 driver, and hopefully encourage more Japanese drivers to the sport
@hicwron It's funny, the way it goes, isn't it, that Germans aren't highly regarded by f1 fans until Schumacher, or Spain is considered a breeding ground for champions of two-wheeled sport, but not four, until Alonso. I submit that on the day a Japanese driver becomes champion, fans will look back in retrospect at all the talent that has come out of Japan and drivers like Sato, Nakajima(Senor), and even Suzuki will get the respect they deserve.
@domdom87 Yea we can all see that in the video here... I'm pointing out the part when he pulled out of the draft quite early and outdragged the toyota towards the top end, which is were toyota always struggled. They were never very fast but had good downforce.
How did Petrov and Hulkenberg get a drive over this guy? Put him in a Red Bull, Vettel is a flash in the pan, when he's not in front, he's causing crashes. Sato much better driver.
@carsismeZ06 Oh because the BAR 006 wasn't a decent car at all... The car that Jenson Button got his first pole and his first TEN podiums, AND every race he finished, he scored points in all of them. Sato on the other hand retired from more races, had less points finishes, one podium, and a best qualifying position of 2nd.
i would love to see sato back in f1, fair enough he made errors and took people out but at least he went for the gap, back then other drivers were content to just sit behind and wait for the fuel stops
I remember watching this race live at 3 in the morning. Half asleep and blurring eyed I was roused to wake up by what I can only call one of the most exciting and brave drives I've ever seen in all my years of watching F1. I remember giggling like a giddy school girl when Sato made that overtaking move. An absolutely storming drive.
Sato was never the greatest driver on the grid but I will always have enormous respect for his grit and determination. Bravo Takuma, Bravo.
@zelmaso Kamui Kobayashi is a good up and coming driver. Got into Q3 for Turkey in his crappy little Sauber (And if I remember right, he's been in Q3 3 times this season, Malaysia, Spain and Turkey). Lets hope his car makes it to the end of the race without breaking down or getting shunted by another driver, like what has happened in every single race so far... Even Spain where he managed to finish, he got shunted off by Kubica on the first lap.
@miguelfb1 He's getting better at IRL, but his mistakes in the 2004/5 seasons with BAR were what cost him a good drive. Particularly 2005 - only 1 point vs 30 against Button.

Alonso is going away because he drives better and start accelerating very early sato enter faster and accel later, on long straigh he is dropped, thats not only the car sato is not the best driver ppl think super aguri or not he can't follow the pace of the two tims world champ. Remember in his first f1 car Alonso got as fast as teams like renault ...
alonso had problems with his tires or brakes...you can see how slow he is at braking... at the straight sato is almost chanceless even when he's driving in alonsos slipstream...the mclaren is too strong 8)
excellent driving by sato in the not so good super aguri (:O . I miss super aguri they were the fans favorite I believe. More so than ferrari or mclaren I think alot of people had a soft spot for super aguri :P . They were a nice guys team. I also thought 07 was a really good season and I liked the way the cars looked :D .
