installed windows from a usb to a netbook and it says missing operating system.i tried the chkdsk /p and it said autoshk.exe not found "please specify directory" but my netbook does boot from the usb. its what i been using to boot it but i want it fixed. atm i tried the methods above. all i have to do now i wait and see.

I opened bios window, and i searched a litlle without changing something, and i left without saving the shit, and suddenly a othere black screen opened, and said if i would like to start with windows 7 i hit that button and then it just started as normal, so manny thanks for this video, ( this was the easiest way i did before this, and it helped... :P

@HawaiianSuperDude you can still go into the BIOS in start up, the OS does NOT effect BIOS at all, its inside the mobo

Ok so I was in the middle of restarting my laptop, but it was taking a while so i took out the charger and the battery and when I turned it back on the vaio logo came up with the noise, but then it came to the error message: Operating System not found

And I kept trying to reboot it by taking out the battery but the same message keeps appearing and its really worrying me :/ I can't even go on to my laptop bcuz of the error. Please help!!

I don't even know what I try but I got to a point where it said:

"windows 98 did not find a valid FAT or FAT32 partition in station C." and it gives three possible reasons: 3rd party software, a virus or thee need to partition.

When I type FDISK as I am instructed it says: THERE ARE NO HARD DISKS

We did have a virus, that is why we wanted to change the harddrive. But the pc was WORKING that time, with the virus. How come that now the same harddisk is not recognised?

so you have new hard drive? you can see it in bios and all settings are right? did you do fresh install?

yes and no. I had a totally new harddrive but it kept saying NTLDR missing. Nobody can get me the three files I need to solve that (your tip). So I took out the new drive and decided to keep going with the old one: I had only cleaned out my files, but all the programs were still there. So I figured: pop it in and all willl be fine. But with the new as well as with the old hard drive I get the message that the operating system is missing - and if I get any further: there are no hard disks.

Hi Bri, some weeks ago I was here with NTLDR problems. Nobody I know can get me the 3 files I would need so I gave up, and replaced the new harddrive by the old one. Guess what ! "Operating System not found".

It is not bout the IDE: in bios they are both detected. So I don't get recovery options to follow this video.

I got the pc to "check" the C drive: it did not even take a second - result "no problems found" - for the boot diskette it took over 5 min! any idea's? thanks in advance!

At the BIOS message you claim there is a button to do some sort of reset and detect or what not but you don't tell us where it is. I don't know If it would work or not because I don't know where the button is

to enter bios try these one of these keys F2, Del, F12, F10 just keep tapping the key when you first start your machine, if that dont work restart and try next key.

I would do a diagnostics test on your drive, if it comes back all good then you can rule out bad drive.

At startup tap F8 to enter safemode to see if it loads. if it does clean infection with malwarebytes & superantispyware make sure system is clean before you do anything else

THE PROBLEM IS: I have downloaded Kaspersky about month ago, my friend told me it's better, and I don't have a key for it anymore, trial has ended, so how am I supposed to remove it from my computer, because you can't remove in safemode? I can't install F-secure if I have Kaspersky on my computer. And I can't remove it, because if I go to normal mode, my computer will crash. Advice?

so the computer is stable in safemode?

if your stable in safemode Select "Safe mode with Networking and scan with malwarebytes & superantispyware and do a onlinescan at BitDefender Online Scanner this should clean your computer of spyware, malware, trojans and virus. once complete see if it boots up to desktop if you have a 2nd pc take hard drive out of busted pc and put it in 2nd pc and set it as slave scan and clean that way. you can also use UBCD4WIN to boot to and scan that way.

try and boot up the laptop in safemode restart and keep tapping F8 and enter safemode see if it lets you get to desktop, can you see the blue screen whats error code? if blue screen disappears, it means your need to disable it heres how in Startup and Recovery uncheck Automatically restart then post blue screen error code to me.

Thanks for this video. I recently got that problem on my dell netbook the inspiron mini 9 (that is now discontinued). You said to remove the memory and insert it back. Im afraid if I do that though it might void my warranty.

Not sure that would effect your warranty, maybe check with with Dell.
