There is a distinct difference between intercession and "soaking, emptying"...whatever. However she is right when she talks about resting in the Lord, I do this after I read my bible in the morning. I sit in my chair and listen to worship music, sometimes sing but it's more like meditating on what I've read!! The Holy Spirit does not override our minds or our will. God gave us free will!

I believe this is a form of surrendering to God; they call it "soaking", but to me it is the same as lying prostrate and allowing God to minister to you. I've done it long before they called it "soaking"..and it helped me in my personal walk with the Lord.

It is the human nature to look up to, or find solace in someone or something that is greater than ourselves. Some people don't believe in God, so they look up to celebrities or other people. God wants us to recognize and follow Him. But
God is all around us. Just last winter I came to a realization when I rediscovered the beauty and uniqueness of each snowflake. It was then that I realized how God is around us all of the time in so many subtle ways. It makes sense to question what is in order to find the truth. It is often the truth that is hard to discover sometimes because there are so many options out there. I believe that the Bible is God's word, but I also know how much it has been tampered with.

this is nuts. Christians (or people who think they're Christians at least) get so caught up in experiential dumb stuff, because walking day by day with the Lord in their lives is too BORING for them. What a slap in the face of the One who is beside them 24/7!
Aren't we supposed to 'spend time with Him' in His WORD? If more people would test things in light of Scripture, they wouldn't accept these 'new age' practices. "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine." (2 Timothy 4:3) "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." (1 Tim. 4:1) "...contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints." (Jude 1:4)
God looks at people's hearts and motives before their actions. What makes something New Age is mainly the fact that people take Jesus out of the practices, where they try to get the blessing of God without including God. Soaking Prayer is the idea of developing a meditative state, whether it is through quitely lying on the floor or through journaling or reading the word while listening to worship music, in order to become more intimate with God. It is to draw near to God, which is biblical.
King David did this type of thing too. The Psalms were all written during these prayerful meditation times which were either set to music at that time, or later set to music. The word also says that for those who wait upon the Lord, He will renew their strenghth. That is what soaking prayer is all about, waiting on the Lord.
Look up IHOP on google, (International House of Prayer). There are locations all over the world, run by local people but overseen by the main IHOP in KS. They usually have soaking prayer times.
Soaking prayer = Hindu meditation.

@TerraformerOfLight Soaking prayer is Kundalini which is New age hinduism. Be still, and know that I am God is not an open door to embrace Hinduism. Read the rest, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”. Sounds like God is saying don't worry , do not be anxious. I have this under control. Trust in me. NOT Go adapt New age mysticism. This is also called The Serpent Power and if I was you ill do some research.

@RSJR85 It sure sounds like it. So few Americans have ever heard the word Kundalini and its effects. I don't know what it is or if it's really anything at all, but a lot of false teachers seem to be raising it in unsuspecting persons. Soaking prayer sounds like meditation, which can raise Kundalini and create a false sense of enlightenment.

This isn't New Age, 700 club is a Christian TV show. You need to get your facts straight.
Plus soaking is simply being in the Lord Gods presence. I love how God is a God of relationships, and how He wants to have a personal relationship with everyone including You! and desires for everyone to get to know & experience Him, for example: His Love and His Presence. And what I see is soaking is just one of those many ways to spend some quality time with the Lord God Almighty.

I don't really believe in this 700 stuff, and religion is a facade most of the time-but God and Jesus is real.
This is coming from someone who has been stabbed in the back by a church and the members of that church. I never lost my faith in Jesus though. I don't say this ignorantly, please don't assume that. Please don't get upset either-I don't want an argument. I respect your beliefs, but I believe you are misguided.

Because Jesus does exist, and he is truly someone to believe in. He is the only way to God, and if you(or anyone) don't believe in him, then I believe that they're misguided. I didn't mean it as an insult-I am sorry if you took it that way. I am actually very open minded, and I appreciate all of the different belief systems and traditions. Heck-I Had a Wiccan and a Buddhist as my best friends in High School, and I currently have internet friendships with people who worship Goddesses and such

Okay now heres the big question. Also heres a big misinturpretation about Atheist. We DONT CARE wither God exist or he doesnt. We only care about WHY?? Why does God exist. Why is there a need of a God. We question his existance! We dont just say he does or does not exist. So ask yourself WHY!!, and just like the bible says. Seek and you sha'll find!!

You are right, we do question his existence. That's what humans do. We believe and doubt and are sure of ourselves then we are not. I guess my answer to your question is that He exists because He does. He doesn't need us to confirm whether or not He does. It is the human nature to look up to, or find solace in someone or something that is greater than ourselves. Some people don't believe in God, so they look up to celebrities or other people. God wants us to recognize and follow Him. But

God is all around us. Just last winter I came to a realization when I rediscovered the beauty and uniqueness of each snowflake. It was then that I realized how God is around us all of the time in so many subtle ways. It makes sense to question what is in order to find the truth. It is often the truth that is hard to discover sometimes because there are so many options out there. I believe that the Bible is God's word, but I also know how much it has been tampered with.

Aren't we supposed to 'spend time with Him' in His WORD? If more people would test things in light of Scripture, they wouldn't accept these 'new age' practices. "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine." (2 Timothy 4:3) "The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons." (1 Tim. 4:1) "...contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints." (Jude 1:4)

God looks at people's hearts and motives before their actions. What makes something New Age is mainly the fact that people take Jesus out of the practices, where they try to get the blessing of God without including God. Soaking Prayer is the idea of developing a meditative state, whether it is through quitely lying on the floor or through journaling or reading the word while listening to worship music, in order to become more intimate with God. It is to draw near to God, which is biblical.

King David did this type of thing too. The Psalms were all written during these prayerful meditation times which were either set to music at that time, or later set to music. The word also says that for those who wait upon the Lord, He will renew their strenghth. That is what soaking prayer is all about, waiting on the Lord.

Look up IHOP on google, (International House of Prayer). There are locations all over the world, run by local people but overseen by the main IHOP in KS. They usually have soaking prayer times.
