I love this, How they comprised all the worlds myths and legends and story and tales in one animation collection. I wish they did shakespeare, and famous author books, like moby dick. etc. I remember they did an animation of it. I loved it,
i like that this shows love. it makes it warmer, full of sweeter meaning<3 it made me sad before thinking there was nothing, just empty duties being done. this gives reason to the pain.
@angelwings11 I have the same comment I watched this as a kid and I've been looking for it for so long and this was my fav out of all of them I loved watching these when I was a kid good memories
Due to me being a complete Greek myth-loving girl, I instantly fell smittened with this video when I came across it on Thursday night. I even saved it as a favorite ^__^
We just started our greek portion of the learning time and my friend is a total Greek Freak and she had us choose people and I chose persephone not knowing her story
I find that a lot people have a misconceptions of the what the word "rape" means in the case of The Rape of Persephone. The ancient Greeks did not have a narrow, sole connotation for the word as we do today. To the Greeks the word "rape" loosely meant to take something with brute force but it did not have to be sexual. Persephone was "raped" int he sense that Hades brutally abducted without her consent but does not mean that he sexually violated her in any way.
@rozendemon But he DID have consent to take her away. He got it from her Father. Her Mother didn't agree to it and flipped out, causing Zeus to go back on his word to his brother. Though you are correct in a sense. Hades did not rape the Goddess Persephone. He was merely taking what was his.
@SillySillyString13 I suppose that you are right about the consent, since her father, Zeus agreed to the union Hades was solely getting what belongs to him. Also given the time, if a father consented to the union then there is no need for the daughter to have any say.
I love how they portray Persephone and Hades' love. They got that part right as far as I'm concerned, but they did mess up on a few things. Hades asked Zeus for her hand before he whisked her away to the Underworld, and Demeter is not Zeus' wife, but his sister, and Persephone is his Daughter/Niece. But I guess they had to censor it all somehow for the kiddies.
@SillySillyString13 Ehh... Hit & miss, they probably also had to edit it for time too. But other than that it was as accurate as it could be to the old myth. I found it very touching, and it manage to shed some good light on Hades. It shows that he's not really evil... It's just part of his profession.
@SillySillyString13 Also, Hades shot by eros's (cupid's) arrow is the Roman version, it wasn't Zeus who instructed eros to shoot Hades, but Venus (Aphrodite). Staying completely true to the Roman version, they would have referred to Hades as Pluto, and Persephone and Proserpina. Also, she didn't become Persephone until after she was taken into the underworld. The name change might either be the result of a marriage ceremony, the result of her "conversion" from one world view to another.
One of my favorite stories of all time. I wish I really had these dolls too. And for the record I think Hades really loved her and she grew to love him.
The rogue Hermes apparently enjoys discord, keeping the gods faced each other. By the way, the doll is beautiful. I wish I had one like ... All dolls are precious. ;)
@KashaDatBitchHanyou lol my immaturity found the "you dont want that god of love to shoot those arrows INSIDE of you, YOUR FAR TO YOUNG, and his ARROWS will hurt" line really dirty personaly
Gods! I LOVE this episode because it is one of the versions of this story that shows Persephone actually happy with Hades. Thank you sooo much for uploading this episode, I had been searching literally everywhere for this episode. Thanks!!!
I've been searching for this story for what feels like ages ... ^_^
Demeter is weird and funny at the same time. The quarrels of Zeus and his 'wife' are great. They portrayed Hades much to my liking - cold and cunning, but not evil.
Seriously beautiful animation and the music is superb. Thank you so much for putting this up, I've been looking for it for a while. I like how they portray Hades. None of this 'rape' nonsense. He's a fairly cold, calculated mastermind with a soft spot for his wife.
Oh my goodness! I've been looking for this animation for so many years; thank you so much for uploading it!

One dislike? Nice try, Hades. I agree though, that Persephone should spend more time with you.

In the the Greek mythologys I have read, Persephone, is unhappy with Hades. Yet in this video, she is full of joy.
