  • wow, tom can hit a stop shot on straight in shots, yeah HE'S GREAT!!!... love the movie though

  • If they make a sequel, a rival pool player should say: "I have Doom 2"

    Ahahahahahahaha... yeah, I'm a loser.

  • DooM

  • this is where he was like... someday Im gonna play a samurai in a movie!

  • This town is dead to you now!

  • Let's play :-)

  • you can tell he's not very good, but the film edits it to look like he's good. great film :)

  • @TheLwebber69 He's actually that good. He got a table and practiced for 8 hours a day to get that good at pool. True story.

  • @TigerWoodsIsBoss i hope you dont actually think he's good! if your joking then good1. true story.

  • @TheLwebber69 Ask him for yourself, or better yet play him. :-)

  • @TigerWoodsIsBoss i would play him and beat him as my pool career isnt a film haha ;)

  • @TheLwebber69 He would smoke you in pool and then teach you about Scientology.

  • @heynow123ism HAHAHA that made me laugh ;)

  • BEAUTIFUL long take

  • Just love how Scorsese shot the pool tables and the games...truly a master.

  • Dave 'Cianzano Bianco' Lister.

  • Just your average Saturday night out LOL.Paul,Tom and Elizabeth are brilliant in this film, some great camera work aswell.

  • It was an easy out, basically just a few stop shots. Anyone with a skill level past beginner should be able to run out (especially when they move the 5-ball between scenes to line it up straight for his one-handed shot). No one would be clapping or impressed.

  • @4TXBL im sure that for scorsese this was very easy...considering he only make this movie to finance one of his dream projects "THE LAST THEMPTATION OF CRHIST"....scorsese has made much better camera moves...look RAING BULL for ex....THE COLOR of money IS one of his week films....but even a mediocre scorsese film, is a good film for most directors...AND YOU ARE COMPLETE WRONG! THE SCENE WAS SHOTED IN A SIGLE LONG SEQUENCE!....OF COURSE IT WAS A CHOREOGRAPHY WITH GREAT TIMING AND SHOTED.

  • @ceratoidegus You are delusional if you think this was shot without moving the 5 ball. All you have to do is look at 1:23 to see the cue ball is barely past the side pocket and the 5 ball is around the middle diamond. If he were to shoot the 5 in the corner from that angle, there is a good chance he would scratch in the other corner.

  • @ceratoidegus Then it cuts to Paul Newman "Fast Eddie" driving for awhile, and then walking into the pool hall. As he enters, you can hear the crowd applaud and cheer, as if Vince had made some other great shot, but then when they show the table again, the cue ball is lined up straight behind the 5 ball for Vince's one-handed shot (at 1:48).

  • Flash? DS? IPhone? Pussies. Real men play Doom on their POOL CUE, muthas.

  • Check where the balls are at 1.27 and where the balls are at 1.50 :) Cute.

  • Tom Cruise should be lynched for how he's treating that Balabushka.

  • @XFS540 It's a Joss made for the movie not a Balabushka. You can have your very own copy for about $700.

  • How music is called?

  • 10 people losing to Tom Cruise or weren't werewolfs of London

  • Great scene.

But the position of cue ball has been changed from 1'25 to 1'49.

  • @katagirijin2 ..so has the position of the cue..1.25 its below the pocket..scene shift..its above the pocket 1.29

  • Fun Fact:

John Carmack, who came up with the name 'Doom' after watching

The color of money where Tom Cruise shows up at a pool hall with a

custom pool cue in a case.

"What do you have in there?" someone asks.

    "Doom."

  • Great movie. But if you ever actually did that kind of strutting and dancing in any pool hall, during a $ game, you would not make it out the door in one piece. That's a guarantee.

  • @scottyhp Hahahahaha so true.

  • @scottyhp Depends how confident you REALLY were. I've done this. :)

  • This is "VINCENT" before turn a crazy hitman in "Collateral", lol !

He was a good man once...

  • I'm not Tom Cruise fan, mainly because of his involvement and public support of $cientology the crook sect, but I have to say he is terrific playing the character in this movie and so Paul Newman.

  • Great movie.Actually,they hired a couple of professionals,when they show them at the competion.Its quite a fast clip,but awesome.Love Warren Zevon's music too.R.I.P. Warren

  • No wonder why Tom Cruise got the part in last samurai

  • Comment removed

  • It's in the way that you use it. Eric Clapton

  • Wat's the song that this scene opens to?

  • DAMMMMM!!! Thats how you film a MUTHA FUCKEN SCENE!!!!!!!!

  • 0:38 And that's how the Videogame "Doom" got it's name!.........fo real I'm not joking lol

  • 0:39 And that's how the Videogame "Doom" got it's name!.........fo real I'm not joking lol

  • I have never seen this whole film. what a shame. I love Tom Cruise & of course Paul Newman. RIP PAUL NEWMAN.

  • Comment removed

  • Brilliant!!! And his hair was perfect!!

  • Brilliant!!!

  • his hair was perfet. haha fucking awesome.

  • Anyone notice the consistency error starting at about 1:25? Cruise is lining up for the one handed shot on the orange 5-ball and he's over the side pocket. They flash to Paul Newman entering the pool hall and when they go back to Cruise, he makes the shot on the 5-ball positioned between the side pocket and the corner pocket.

  • Too bad he isn't wearing shorts

  • Classic Scorsese cut at start, slow pan from behind to close up of actors face.

  • Thumbs up if you mimic Vince whenever you hear the line "and his hair was perfect" :)

  • tom is an ugly douchebag... playing pool like this would make me surrender and tell him to play alone.

  • @Tehbrainlessone implying tom is playing himself in the color of money

  • And this is were the game Doom gets it's name, NO Joke

  • DOOM!!

  • ... real stupid question, but what is the thing on his ear at :24 if you look its like in the middle of his ear is it an earring??? .. .because i think wild thing aka charlie sheen also had something like it in major league.. not sure though .... help out thanx

  • @48memorex I think they were called ear cuffs, popular in the mid-1980s, usually worn by teenage girls.

  • @48memorex

yea, that's a type of ring.

  • Love how the shot on the 5 completely changed in the second scene cause cruise couldn't handle the first one with one hand. or two probably... garbage pool playing.

  • best bit of the film classic

  • My favorite scene of the movie.

  • why are people clapping at a piece of piss clear up?

  • @o11ygunner Because he ran it up to the last 3 balls with 3 easy straight in shots. dumbass. when you play position like that, its a beautiful thing.

  • omg 0:47 wtf are those teeth!!

  • Tom cruise played like he knew what he was doing. Maybe. Hope there's a part two. It's like a nightmare

  • wow look at those teeth...

  • whats the song called in this scene?

  • @ziiduck The first song is "It's in the way you use it." By Eric Clapton... The pool playing scene is "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon

  • His hair was perfect....

  • Lol I love how they re aligned the cue ball on the 5 ball so that he could do that little one handed stunt he lined up for early....

  • i also can't put a sentence together..ty

  • i im the VINCE of Wii bowling

  • what a goofy turd

  • In here Doom, That was a great line, the best in the movie.

  • That was a great line, the best in the movie.

  • hahahah so cock thats the only way to be wen you excell so greatly at something

  • You can actually see Tom Cruise smirking and trying not to giggle as he's enjoying the scene so much!!! I grew up with this movie and still love it, reminds me of my youth

  • you dont have cool scene like this in today's movies.

  • John Carmack inspired to name Doom (the game) after that line....

  • @TheAESolid not Carmack, it was John Romero

  • @TheAESolid yeah

  • Wonderful movie!

  • They Messed up in this movie >watch the 5 ball it moved, i;' m kinda GOOD i would i'v ran that table. aka jeff fiiti

  • @fittifoo5257 they move a lot of balls in pool films. they did it on purpose and that's not the point of the movie. the point isn't to show how good the actors are at pool in real life, it's meant to present the characters are great players. I hope you could run this table. The whole run out was stun shots lol.

  • @fittifoo5257 fittifoo im kinda good TOO. A lot of nit picking about the movie, which in my opinion is a classic, along with the hustler. So let me nit pick now. Its the cue ball that is moved, not the 5. Be sure what your talking about before you post

  • I love that shit eaten grin on his face after the "doom" line.

  • It's like a nightmare, isn't it? It just keeps getting worse and worse

  • The Color of Money came out 25 years after The Hustler. It is now 25 years since The Color of Money came out. Maybe it's time for Vince to make his comeback?

  • @JShankel Absolutely!!!!

  • Great filmmaking. Vince runs the table without an edit after the one-ball (after "i'd like to meet his tailor"), but notice how you never see a ball go into a hole after the one? And notice how on the one, we cut in with Vince already having his shot set up? They really made it look like Cruise ran the table.

  • Tom Cruise is a great actor. In reality he might be weird, but in his movies he's always great.

  • @kksvesta Paul Newman was awesome in this movie and Cruise was cocky, but if he wasnt I think that the movie wouldnt have been as good as it was. Cruises role in the movie required him to be "over the top" with cockiness I think.

  • Cruise play fun, cocky characters like anyone else.

  • he looks like venomfangx

  • 'sean' must be 'scene', and not really sure about how to spel 'dough' either :)

  • He made the 5 look easy :D great sean dough.

  • He had some HUGE hair!!! LOL

  • What you got in there?

    In here?......DOOM!!!

    Love that line!

  • @whoopdogs13 Best line in the movie. I get a HUGE smile on my face everytime i see that part!

  • @whoopdogs13

The guy who named the Doom video game lovedthat line too.

  • @whoopdogs13

    Best scene in the movie.

Just the way he smiles after he says it and says gonna have fun. Great movie, great line, great scene.

  • @whoopdogs13 The guy who made the game doom got the name from the line. Just some useless trivia. lol!

  • he is very embarrassing

  • That was Tom's best scene in any movie...even though he was kind of faggy, he was hysterical.

  • One of my fave movies of ALL TIME!

  • i was just about to ask who directed the film, but the cinematic brilliance gave it away.

  • HE LOOKS LIKE A TOTAL FAG IN THIS MOVIE

  • @MORTONLGG This was way back when he was the hottest dude on the planet. Nowadays, he doesn't look as good tho

  • i suppose this is how me buckles plays pool, "fast eddie seamus felson kidd style", twirlin' his cue, hair perfect, slayin' all who dare cross him, all to the tunes of warren zevon as he howls to the full moon...i do believe i saw lon chaney jr. walkin' down the street, along with mayor shea mo brea;)....carry on with the golden cue buckles & don't let anyone rip yer lungs out jim...pina coladas for the house & some bushmills;). xo jillyzevonkidd lol

  • What is hte back ground soundtrack ?

  • @stpirkka8 werewolves of london warren zevon

  • His hair was perfect!!

  • Tom Cruise is fuckin awesome in this movie. One of his best!

  • Excellente scène !

  • the scene is helping establish two major and one minor characters, it's not important wether you see Tom put every ball in himself.

  • can you see the balls go in in the wide screen? otherwise this is just cruise dancing around like a jackass.

  • For the Color Of Money like a Tom Cruise flick

'Cept I put 8-balls in corners without using pool sticks....

  • This may be the treatest unknown scene in movie history.

  • best scene

  • best scene

  • There is this amazing song in the movie. It starts at about 1:16:53 (after the scene where Vince jumpes on bed that Carmen's lying down on) and ends at about 1:17:27. Please help me, this song is effing brillinat and I cannot find it anywhere!

  • @marczella4 song is called werewolves of London by Warren Zevon

  • @darklaren Unfortunately that's not it. The song that I'm talking about is only guitar, no words and there is couple of scenes in the movie where we can hear it. For the first time it is played when Eddie comes to Child World to talk to Vince about the trip just after conversation with Carmen in the car (it is at about 20 minuts and 30 seconds of the movie) And the second time is the scene that I was talking about before - when Vince is jumping on bed and Eddie wants to borrowBalabushka(1:16:50)

  • I mean not only guitar, just generally instrumental.

  • dude you lie thats baaaaaaaad i dont see the werewolf

  • bad filming 5 ball was stupid

  • pull shit like that in my poolhall, you're suckin meals thru a straw for the next 3 months & a fat nurse named giselle wipes your ass every day.

  • @jdbankshot

You guys cant take a classy ass whippin then? Haha. just kiddin. Its true, he would have probably been shot by the time he potted the 6 ball

  • @bucketbot101 lol. actually, his display was devoid of class & full of conceit. i & many players i know don't mind an ass whipping from time to time, as long as the opponent is respectful. gotta go, my turn, 4 balls and i'm out. no prob.

  • Comment removed

  • THIS HAS BALLS !GET IT

  • if you see at 1:25 he can´t prepare the five ball but then suddenly at 1:49 he had the five ball straight to the corner pocket, that sucks.

  • @billardelbarrio That wasn't the point of the scene though. Don't watch the movie trying to verify the actors are genuinely good at pool. In reality, no one's as good as Eddie and Vince are made out to be, even the magician, Efren Reyes, maybe lol. Watch the movie appreciating the story line and the hypothetical shots these guys are doing.

  • @ProdigyKimXP .......from other pool playing scenes in movies, tv, etc. This is one of the better ones. He's a good athelete and picked up the game well. Notice, he stays down on the shot, doesn't lift his stick up....like so many tv/movie non pros would do. All in all, he's believable in the role. Just like Jackie Gleason was....

  • @Andreas748 I agree. Overall, it's great! It's extra icing on the cake and I don't understand why some people make a huge fuss over the small flaws. It's presented nicely and the small flaws in the actual shots is not what the movie is about!

  • @ProdigyKimXP You understand a lot about pool as it's related to the film with them creating the illusion that Cruise could actually play. Apparently though, you don't understand that in reality there ARE players of the caliber these fictional characters seem to be. There are too many to name them all but one is actually in this movie~ Keith McCready (he played Grady Seasons) but unfortunately blew a promising career with booze & drugs but has made a comeback in the past 12 years or so.

  • @ProdigyKimXP I do agree with a few others that have replied to you that the point is to make it appear as though they are good players and the story is really the main focus. People complain about everything. If they had used great pool players so that the game looked perfectly played like pros, then people would complain that the acting sucked because most pool players can't act... at least not in the sense of movie actors. Acting for a hustle they could though.

  • this is so incredibly gay

  • @stevanmilk It couldn't be more gay.

  • @colomblanco What about 'Top Gun' ?

  • \m/

  • Tom Cruise was good in this movie. Only because he was working with Paul Newman. Never before have i seen such great on screen chemistry

  • 2:20 - immense timing! :)

  • horrible positional shot from the 4 to the 5. luckily the 5 ball moved somehow so he was straight.

  • 2:18

  • this movie isnt even close to being as good as pool hall junkies

  • @pervertedhermit1 if it weren't for this movie poolhall junkies didnt stand a chance....just like this one wouldnt have without the Hustler

  • @michaelrsutton21 who gives a shit if they came before. ones made later on can be better. i hate those type of arguements. If it was not for the original the other would not a stand a chance. please get real man.

  • Comment removed

  • i wonder if vince could beat fast eddie in his prime

  • tom cruise is the best actor

  • How did the 5 ball go from 1:26 with such angle to 1:49 to being straight in LOL (i know, i know, it's a movie)

  • @albert333pool It's a movie.

  • @albert333pool Yeh, nice point out, 'Movie Mistake'.

  • they used hand doubles on most of the close up shots

  • @Warren85nc Gee, and I thought old Tom did all that world-class stuff... Are you absolutely 100% sure? I think Tom could beat anybody in the whole world. It looked like Tom's hands - especially the close-up of the hairy-handed one. I think Tom is the werewolf of London. Wa-hoooooooooooooooooo... Draw-blood!

  • @K3KCT Mike Sigel

  • @Warren85nc Do you think?

  • What a classic scene. All done with no cuts and no funny business. He must have done this scene a hundred times to get it PERFECT . DOOM !!

  • LOL. :') I love his spesh little dance. XD

  • great movie..if u like pool movies. poolhall junkies has to be m fav though

  • not only that!!!!!! He can shoot a mean ass game of pool....Trust me he is good at pool....look at his stroke.

  • 2:44...No way in hell an experienced pool player would do that to a high end que. Warp it or break it maybe but, more than likely loosen the joint.

I did love this movie though. Yes, Tom can act but I think Paul "Fast Eddie" Newman had him trumped for this flick.

  • the shot at 1:26 is very different compare to 1:49 LOL

  • I wish I had a t-shirt with my name on it too

  • i love this movie but i just wanted to smack vincent in the face throughout the whole movie, he isnt actually as good as the film makes out
