i have a lot of respect for 8th dans, cos basically chances of passing the exam is less than 0.5%

but when it comes to physical combat..no way..i'll only believe an 8th dan can beat a 6th dan at his peak when it happens in a shiai

One of the fukusho did call it. The other two shinpan denied it. I _think_ (it all happens rather quickly), that there was a partial deflection by Hamasaki's shinai

If you haven't fought against an 8th dan, you would not understand why they are not charging around. Ask a 6th or 7th dan who would win - irrespective of age. What you don't see at this level is the battle of their spirit!!

i haven't seen 8th dan vs 6th dan in a competition...id like to think 6th dan would beat an 8th dan

nope but they dont attack like 1st-7th dans do

cuz when u attack u actually open some space for the opponent so your opponent can strike back with waza easily

maybe they're not moving as much because they're getting unfit and weaker lol

i think there needs to be a competition between 8th dans and lower dans to bust this myth.
