I understand the tea party position on the debt ceiling, but Sen Paul said they have to prioritize. Is it a priority to fix a problem we've had for 40 years at a time when the U.S. economy and unemployment is so questionable?

Call & fax your members of Congress (both houses) today! to not raise the debt ceiling period! stop the spending and leave nothing off the table including bringing all our troops home and entitlement spending. As Senator Paul has stated many times; we do not have to raise the debt ceiling to avoid defaulting.

Rand... quit wasting your time on a balanced budget amendment. We all know that would amount to nothing more than a joke - why can't you see that?! Your father sees that, and agrees. Your colleagues do NOT follow the Constitution or law as it stands, what in God's name would make anyone believe that overnight, the day after a balanced budget amendment is ratified, they would begin following it and behaving like economic angels? The Congress is a bunch of criminals - we need RADICAL reform!

Some how I don't think that statement is going to reach the ears of Obama, if he has any ears at all for sound business advice....

Shovel ready jobs have several things against them.. (off top of my head, no reason to the order) 1. They are temporary! People need long term employment.

2. They are often low paid and low skill. Alot of the unemployed are educated and skilled, they need REAL work.

3. They cost the currently employed and the employers. Some positions will never open because the taxes have risen so drastically to fund the "shovel ready" jobs.

The only good thing? *Possibly* better roads and public spaces.

There is a real quick way to bring all this to an end. Stop paying our taxes. If half of the tax paying population just stopped and said "no more", all this comes to a screeching halt. It is no longer morally acceptable to me to voluntarily give this corrupt government another penny of my money. No more ObamaCare, no more war, no more theft through inflation. The government will be forced to listen.

As far as attacking foreign countries, how about a 50% pay reduction in Congress for the duration of any foreign conflicts?

If the US is involved in ANY foreign conflicts (wars) not on American soil, then Congress needs to sacrifice right along with the troops and their families that they put in harms way, not to mention the TAXPAYER money they are spending (wasting) on these illegal wars.

We'll see if they allow the President to continue his ways if they have their own skin in the game!

@sciflyer67 I've said that all along - ALL in govt take at least a 50% pay cut, no benefits and pay in to SS/Medicare, live on the system they have us on. I've called my Congressman and both senators, all offices say that's never been brought up but they'll pass it along. Yeah, great idea but it'll never happen as long as THEY write the rules.

There was a serious change to the Constitution - look up the Act of 1871. This govt. has been run unConstituitonally since before most of us were born.

Interesting the solution is a constitutional amendment ... yet gov't doesn't adhere to the constitution as it is now. And if politicians can't agree on cutting the budget... why would the come to an agreement to amend the constitution? Strange thinking. I suppose the real solution - cut military and 'entitlements" (remember all this is unconstitutional) will NOT be cut because statism is the problem.
