  • Man, these early episodes sound like shit.

  • Love the Discworld reference towards the end :3

  • Mario Paint Ball, I would buy a Wii just for that game alone

  • I love it when he says "Gaaaaaaaaay".

  • I like Sturgeon now.

  • 5:00

You DEFINITELY can't say they didn't try

  • Wait... did he call Okami a Pitifully poor game?

  • @supajasiu "pity the poor game that tries to defy characterization"

  • 6 million levels and counting for lbp1 and 2 is hardly a bad outcome. It has been doing extremely well.

  • oh now a feel bad

  • Funny how he never mentioned PC gamers, where LBG would sell like fucking hotcakes on something like Steam.

  • @SpacePajama no, it wouldn't. Pc games don't sell as well as you think they do and they're far easier to pirate.

  • @greatemperorsteve Right, because Xbox, Wii and PS3 don't get pirated at all, eeevvaaarrr. Well lets see here, 64,901 is the amount of people who have bought and are currently playing Football Manager on PC. Along with 4,338,543 that are currently online on Steam. You also didn't respond to what I said. Little Big Planet would sell, and its shown that creativity toys do sell like hotcakes, look at Minecraft.

  • @SpacePajama I never said they weren't pirated, actually read what I write. BTW, those numbers you mention aren't actually that good. Just because a game sells enough for the company to not go bankrupt doesn't make it "selling well". And 4 million people on steam doesn't tell me anything about software sales. Half of those could be accounts that have only bought 2 games. LBP wouldn't sell because you say it does.

  • @greatemperorsteve Using what you said, if all the accounts bought one game at full price, I.E. 60$ then I'll just go do the math.

The amount of money to come from this would be 253,596,300 without tax in US dollars. That is quite a lot of money, now at least 1/5 of that is taken by steam, which isn't a lot, all things considered. A good example of Digital Distribution making money is defeinetly Minecraft, which has 4,984,292 people have bought it.

  • @greatemperorsteve Also, you stated before that it was easier to pirate on PC then it was on console, which is not as true as you have said, mainly because it is very easy to get a used 360, hack it and then allow it to play pirated games, assuming you know what you are doing.

You yourself should learn to understand your own arguments. Little Big Planet would sell, mainly on the basis that a creativity toy, like Minecraft and Terraria have sold a bunch, why not LBP?

  • @SpacePajama Minecraft's sales are uncommon among pc games. It is NOT the standard. Also, what you described is not "easier to pirate".

Your argument is a superficial assumption; you only list 2 games (both of which could owe more to mining and exploration rather than creativity) which could easily be seen as the exception to the rule. Remember, Minecraft's success is not common.

  • @greatemperorsteve Now your acting like a child "I DON'T WANT MY TOYS SHARED" is all I'm understanding from you. It would take me a little bit of time to find the sale figures for Half Life 2. Or Portal, or Portal 2, or Binding of Isaac. You don't mention anything to combat what I have said, at all. You just jump to "Well thats a assumption" instead of offering me facts on why it wouldn't work for LBP. Terraria has sold a few million copies at 15$, so yea, it can happen.

  • @SpacePajama no, now you're using an appeal to ridicule. I don't want my toys shared is something you made up. FYI, it's because that is an irrational assumption when you see only 2 games and think "creativity = sales" (that's not a fact btw). Half life and Portal aren't part of the rule either. You're the one not making an argument. The highest selling games have all been on consoles and on a general basis, console games sell better than pc games, which is a fact.

  • But fucking lunatics changed the world! (Looks at Einstein).

  • ps3 has gotten allot better :it's got great online and a shit load of exclusives

  • if ps3 is a blu ray player then its the best blu ray player ever made

  • NINJABREAD MAN! I cannot stop laughing at this!

  • Watching this episode now is really funny, mostly because we know that the game sales DID pick-up. :P It sold over 4.5 million copies and got a sequel.

I'm surprised bob isn't interested in Demon's Souls, best mix of modern and old-school I've ever played.

  • You don't factor the pc in this as much as you should have

  • Poor Okami...

  • what's with the paucity of booby pictures? :(

  • In the first moment I heard that Little Big Planet didn't sell well I knew it is because of the main targets of PS3

Most people I think who bought LBP were probobly people who own 2 or all this gen consoles

  • Not every game has to be great does it, you gotta have some games that you can play just for fun in the space between your free, free time, that is the only reason I buy sports games (except for Burnout, which is just awesome, I don't like the realism of the car crashes on PS3 (though I don't have PS3), they don't fly up n flip 13 times...).

  • poor okami. sales never picked up enough to my knowledge

    shame

  • I would buy any good paintball game , as long its a simulation of paintball , not WW2 with paint balls instead of bullets . But cause it's Mario paintball , hell I'll preorder !

  • 6:10 .. I'm 19 years old and I still use these sheets.

  • @TheWrekker

As is the HD Wii :D Sure Nintendo games don't need to be shiny, but it sure is fun :P (the only downside being that Monster Hunter Tri data isn't able to be carried by an SD card)

  • Two years and change later: The sequel is coming and it promises increased and polished customization! I say it's a win for the well-rounded gamer.

  • Yeah, so the.. PC is not a gaming platform. I mean it can do anything but play games. Any types of games. More games than any console ever had. Maybe more than all the consoles combined.

Agreed 90% of the games suck. You say Zelda, i say Diablo,

I own only a psp, with no games. It's just a glorified movie and music player. Also a wifi browser.

I know the PC is expensive and all that, but you really can't compare what it offers and what can offer compared to any console today or tomorrow.

  • Damn right lack of Third Party Control, look at the Wiiviewer's reviews of Anubis, Action GirlZ and of could Ninja Breadman's review....yeah....the lack of Third Party Control is the main reason people think the Wii is the worst console (I personally don't)

  • BLOOD MONEY!!!!! YYYEEEEAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! omg... I'm in the cult...

  • I would buy Mario Paintball.

  • Are these footages from early lbp? Lol, looks like it changed a lot since then :D

Lbp is doing good right now as far as i know. LBP2 is on it's way you know!

  • The PS3 has improved a lot since then. :)

  • The Pc has EVERYTHING. No matter what you are into, the pc has it.

  • @yersimapestis Metal Gear Solid 4

    J/K

The PC has a lack of good and original games though.

  • I think LBP sales were so bad because well it took people a while to get the money for a PS3.

    LBP2 is coming out now.

  • i got LBP new but later

  • i laughed so hard at Mario Paintball hint

  • Nintendo pwned the FPS with Metroid Prime.

  • @dinoballz the fact that you say "pwned" shows that you have the brain capacity of an 8 year old. Also, Metroid prime was good. but not amazing. go back in time and play half life. then you will be amazed.

  • @yersimapestis Wow, judgemental huh? I´ve been gaming for 20 years, I find Firs tperson shooters to be bad games in principal because it´s a lazy genre. Point and shoot, not much variation.

But being one of the very few to make t work on a console; whilst also sticking to your roots as an action adventure franchise is a very big achievement also the atmosphere is great. I did actually replay it recently and I still love it

  • Super Mario Paintball?

    ...

    AWESOME IDEA!!! :D

  • @ShyGuyXXL02 Dear god no! Isn't there enough Mario already. How many game cant that guy be whore out to?

  • Here is my theory why LBP did not sell well in it's first month: in 2008 Sonys Ps3 was still stuck in the endless cycle of sucking, which meant that not many people ownd a ps3, and those that did was probably not going crazy of excitment over it, as LBP seems like a game that grows over time.

And by the way, calling ALL, or even most xbox360 owners, "the sons of master" chief, that's under the belt. It really is.

  • "Has been Suda 51, and he's a fucking lunatic."

    :D

  • It would have probably sold much more on the PC. It would be more accessible, and PC games aren't limited to specific audiences like the consoles are.

If graphics are an issue, just provide an option to tone down the graphics for older computers.

  • DUDE MARIO PAINTBALL WOULD BE AMAZONG

  • was that you doing that combo in TVC?

  • if you look at the history of video games, they really don't come from japan, they just dont. western and eastern style (though japan is arguably western politically) games are very different.

  • @zombierobopirate yeah, but as he's stated before Japan is responseable for the story driven style games have today.

score attack games - Video game crash - Super mario brothers

We all know Ralph Baer invented them :D

  • I would totally play Mario Paintball

  • @SuperStarhawk hell yeah. I'd buy a Wii just for that reason.

  • Well, that was a bit depressing, but I believe that LittleBigPlanet now fares much better, what with over a million levels and 2 downloadable expansion paks I believe? Still, the fact that it initially didn't sell that well on the PS3 wasn't all that surprising given the PS3's price tag, though I personally saw LittleBigPlanet as inspiring. Why I would sure like to create a game like that, though with more focus on gameplay over graphics, and better marketing timing.

  • Cliffy B looks like Dane Cook, maybe that's why I can't stand him.

  • it really should have been on the pc

  • i think little big planet looked good

  • PC PLAYS EVERY GENRE!

  • Your view of the PS3 is a tad outdated nowadays and it hurts your argument incredibly to state you don't even own a PS3.

So, I have to say, while you made some valid points I don't think you quite have a good grasp on one of the big platforms you were commenting on. Still, I admit this video's points about the PS3 might have been valid at the time, they certainly aren't anyone as of 2010.

And guess what? LBP sales did indeed pick up. There's hope for unique innovative titles yet, eh?

  • lbp sales DID pick up.

it also probly would have done great on the pc

  • man if there was a mario paintball i would so get it!

  • @flameman9 Me too! I remember Screwattack said in the introduction to their video on the top 10 FPS's that Mario will probably have an FPS of his own eventually. And the Wii appears to be the perfect platform for the FPS due to the Wiimote. (The B button makes a good trigger.)

  • 2 years later and there is still sommunity support and developer support on Little Big Planet

i still cant put the game down

  • Mario paintball... that would be the perfect game to put Geno in!

  • ps why not on the pc? It has multiplayer, user generated content. It can't be too much more intensive then serious sam with shader 3 support. A pc version (and not just a shitty port) would have top billing on steam. And, hint hint, most people have a pc which can run similar graphics.

The only problem I can think of is the controls and it doesn't have too many button combinations to pull off on common keyboards.

Besides, making a level built for 64 sackboys would rock!

  • At this point PS3 sales have gone up quite a bit (still third place but not a commercial failure). Isn't hindsight a bitch?

  • oh wow. good idea. Mario Paintball... that makes so much sense.

Man I hope somebody took that seriously.

  • You wonder why LBP didn't sell and then you say "I don't own a PS3." Of course no one bought the stupid thing... the PS3 is like $700 and it's not even backwards compatible. You can't sell a console nowdays and not have it be backwards compatible. It's taboo.

LBP COULD have been huge, but they screwed up by not putting it on Wii, where the entirety of it's audience is. An audience without money trees. You are part of the demographic for this game, for example. So am I.

  • by the time LBP was released the PS3 was 400, try again

  • @egdeltur666 still can't play 75% of my xbox 1 games on my 360, I can play 100% of my ps1 and ps2 games on my PS3 (bought the original)... what were you saying about taboo? the wii audience wouldn't have bought lbp because contrary to it's looks it's not a casual game and it's not made by nintendo. It's almost sold 4 million copies and the sequel is well on it's way.

  • I'd rather see Hakushon Daimao fighting Viewtiful Joe.

  • i think it would have been on the PC

  • wow u are a dumb fanboy, sorry but seriously stop sucking Nintendo's dick.

  • Oh Man NHL and NBA Jam were AWESOME on the genesis, then i played NHL on the SNES and didn't find it to be nearly as good as on the genesis

  • Ahm,,,,Game Of The Year...

  • No psp love?

  • I've recently purchased LBP and I love that little game to death. The developer-made levels absolutely ooze charm from every angle, and even though the user-made levels never seem to QUITE match the developer's brilliance, there were definitely some that kept my hands glued to my rickety little PS3 controller and my eyes to my decidedly NOT HD screen for a few hours each. I'm absolutely not convinced that LBP has failed, and may be what Sony needs to remove that huge stick from from their asses

  • VIDEO GAMES COME FROM JAPAN LOL

  • yeah i only play my JRPGs on my playstation, gameboy advance, and i play star wars gayms on Xbox

  • actually i dont think this episode was made when MAd World was out, but i would agree that MW was fricking awesome :D

  • Mario Piantball = pwnage

  • LBP wasn't as fun as I thought it was. Controls were really unresponsive. I rather play my mario game on DS or something... Bad controls can ruin a good game.

  • Damn man! you scared me in 04:41!

  • When you showed the "killdozer" picture and just said "AWESOME" I laughed like a little kid. Great video!

  • 4:59

Okay now a show of hands, who has also just seen the greatest advertisement poster for a video game console?

  • its not just my hand thst is going up...

  • *snare drum*

    Audience: "oooooooo" *applauds*

  • the essential problem with little big planet is that it relies to heavily on user generated content. user generated content is fine but make a good game it doesn't . if video games are like art the lbp is like handing a person a blank piece of paper and a pencil then saying it is as good as the monalisa

  • LBP looks fun but sadly I dont have a PS3 if they where to tweek the engine a little it might work for the WII

  • but I don't think nintendo could come up with the dedicated online and nintendo isn't innovative with it's games anymore

  • GODDAMNIT I LOVE ARBY'S!!

(bet you didn't think anyone would be offended by that one did you?)

  • okami sold pretty well right? that game is awesome

  • tbh i liked the ps2 version more

  • it sold enough for capcom to profit

and they're making a sequel on the ds

i think it did well for itself

  • "Killdozer with Clint Walker? Nooooo!"

(Tried to kill me with a forklift...)

  • OLE!

  • Gotta remember this video is about a year old. Playstation has just recently began to make its fans appealed to their newest console. Word of good games spread around, and LBP (and other ps3 titles) take a curve for the better.

  • 0:34 - 0:38

    HE SAID FIRST MONTH!

  • Even though it's a wiiware game, world of goo deserves some recognition. The controls actually work really well on the wii because it's a point and click game(but not an fps- I'm lookin' at you conduit!) and the design was brilliant. Beautiful artwork, deep story line, and generally awesome.

  • indeed, poor Sackboy

  • Oh, also, I can do you one better than even "Battle of the Planets": I know those characters as the Eagle Riders.

  • Where is the Scrooge McDuck "Capitalism" image from?

  • I actually lol'd at Mario Paintball

  • little big planet is a great game, i had a problem deciding between xbox360 w/halo or ps3 w/little big planet, i still regret getting halo, but i get to play lbp at my friends house :)

  • I wish I had zelda bed sheets! I'm a ninteno fan boy. but I bought every other console besides ps3 and xbox360 and virtualboy and the uprades of gba and ds. I just got a dsi but read the first sentence! I'm now playing project altered beast-ps2 pikman 2-wii and 2 portables. soul calibur psp fucking wicked awesome!!!!!!!!! and ninja gaiden/order of eclesia albus(second time around) but nintendo is my childhood so fuck everyone until new mario and zelda

  • Little big planet is gr8

I dont understand how pepole dont like ps3.

It is (like Little big planet) is Gr8

  • Personally I think if Steam made a console, it'd be raping Nintendo, Sony, & Microsoft not on a yearly basis, but on a monthly basis.

But yeah, that sucks. It seems originality is no longer the rule for good games, but an exception for good games. People need to stop buying shit like Madden, Gretzgy Hockey (<those games are terrible), & all the terrible Mario sports games (Mario Sluggers? Really?), & go out & buy cheaper, better, original games.

That or buy a Super Nintendo...

  • Steam? don't you mean Valve? Steam is just a client made by Valve. If you are trying to make a point, get your facts straight first

  • And come on, Peter Molyneux is a much more ineteresting nutjob.

    I mean, Peter-Ultima-Online-this-is-why-we-have-World-of-Warcraft-Molyneux.

    LORD BRITISH.

  • I love this series, but he needs to talk about the PC. It's a big enough niche market to be worth mentioning in the sea of consoles that dominate this "age" of gaming.

  • I think a good rule of thumb for any game developer who makes a console game would be for them to also make a version for the desktop PC. Valve's Steam service has dozens of indie games, and from the footage of Little Big Planet you showed us, I'd say it looks like a perfect title to sell on Steam. Not to mention that Steam has a huge userbase (the last I heard, it was over 16 million users), so plenty of people would hear about it.

  • I think LBP is doing great these days its plenty of people play it. You can go to other peoples levels and find things that are so outrageously cool and copy them to your levels.

  • allso i think 360 is sreching out for more it has some fun rpgs and other fun things

  • i diden like it had that 3d thing

  • All joking aside, I say you totally copyright that Mario paintball idea! XD After seeing that even if it was meant to be a joke I am shocked it hasn't happen, heck I can't see it not being fun, but then that is just me.

  • 90% of a/an X...

  • I would love to play Okami and LBP but I have an XBox and a PC and can't justify buying another console.

I do think LBP would be great released on the PC, given how many mods there are for Oblivion to this day.

  • I have to totally agree, I am totally shocked they never made the game for PC too. I mean when you put a game on a console that ( I guess at the time, maybe still now) not too many people are willing to buy cause of the price, you need way more then just one game to back it up.

Yeah you could say the same about Wii but it has more then just one big name game that draws people to get it ( price isn't bad too!)

  • Hmmmm... I didn't like LBP. I didn't like the somewhat sticky and floaty controls, I was impressed but not enough to obsessively build and tweak my own stages, and the non-user-made content was plowed through pretty fast. Interestingly, I found that kids don't necessarily go nuts about games like these either. While the so-called story mode kept them amused for a while, they only tried the stage building a few times before announcing that it's too boring.

  • 6:26 ,one of the greatest games of all time.

Pity, because so little copies were sold.

Okami is one of the greatest games that humans have ever created. And it did distinguish itself from categorization- unfortunately, the advertising was poor, and this rare gem was lost to gamers.

  • I like how PC has a little bit of everything, especially indie games.

LBP would fit great on it due to all of the online communities that would take it in and share levels, etc.

  • Little big planet is in my opinion a pretty solid game for the platformer lovers.

  • Unfortunately, while lbg looked intriguing, the eventual reality is that A) the PS3 is way to expensive, and B) many gamers really just want a game already made for them. There are some that would enjoy building their own levels, but I personally believe that it is a smaller market than people would like to believe.

  • the american CO of sony said in an interview at E3 09 that even thought it sold not as good (but still decent) that they would still support the game

  • shit.... I fucking love lbp... it's a diamond in the rough

  • I'll say this, Little Big Planet DID make me wish the PS3 was within my purchase abilities. Since I experienced it from my brother's friend, we've basically been hauling that friend and his PS3 combo over to the house on weekends so we can run around on glowing roller coasters and backhand each other from incredible heights. Ah, the joy of gaming.

  • That Mario Paintball idea is genius. I'd get back into buying games not on the PC just for that!

  • sony is in a hole up its tecnological ass XD its experimental but doesnt have the base for all

  • mario paint ball would be fun

  • Speaking of the DS, which do you think I should buy, a DS Lite or a DSi? And what games do you recommend?

  • I would reckomend the DSL. Cheaper same games BUT if you want the dl games you need the dsi afaik.

  • DS Lite.

Chrono Trigger and Mario Kart DS.

  • you can play all DS Lite games on a DSi

  • Yes, but for playing just games, a DS Lite is better because of the price.

The DSi is better if you actually give a shit about the two cameras, shitty web browser, and generally crap DSiWare games.

  • Mario Paintball.

    That's fucking awesome.

  • Mario Paintball FTW.

  • Another misuse of "begging the question."

But "Mario Paintball" makes up for it.

  • if they acually made a mario paintball game i would buy it

  • Nintendo is still first despite gamecube graphics, bad 3rd party games, the inabillity to have the guts to make something more graphic than MP3 (we need an eternal darkness sequel) and the fact that the wii-mote guard is called a 'wii comdom'. If they correct all of this, they'll be unstoppable.

  • How would counting GTA totals for the 360 and PS3 together be cheating?

  • hay sry i had to interrupt my watching streak of your videos here , i had to eat then take a shower , im back no though :D

omg you showed Okami i love you :D

and ya , poor little sack boy :( , having probs with the servers and random data deletion didnt help ether :/ ...............

  • The thing I find most interesting about most of these big issues is that it seems people don't want Sony to succeed. Think about it. Do you, the 360, the Wii the PC guy really want the system to win? After dominating the market for two generations, it is understandable that there would be bitterness. But as a Sony man myself, I have no problem with seeing the other systems do well. Sure, 90% of everything is crap, but if there is more of everything, statistics says there will be more good.

  • This video had good intention, but little big planet is actually a great game and the 2nd or 3rd best on the PS3. But I agree with you on everything else.

  • no, he's saying it is a good game, possible of getting him a ps3 besides Metal GEar, just didn't sell well in the first month

  • Its all about the indie game developers

  • moviebob, you've said this phrase twice and I need to point out: "begs the question" is not something that means "this situation calls for the following questio:" that's "raises the question". Begging the question is a type of circular logic fallacy wherein you take the conclusion as the premise.

  • Lol @ Mario Paintball

  • I love the Xenophobia photo.

  • hahahahahaahah u are stupid the next time u give an opinion at least paly the game more than the fucking beta ,u sound stuoid like if u were afraid of lbp but since it wasnt the new halo it sucks since it wasnt meant to be that .hey and the online is the best ever on any fucking game atleast play online

  • Comment removed

  • maybe you should learn to listen. he thought the game was excellent

  • but games and consoles comes from usa.

  • yes he sound extremely stupid and fantard saying "video games come from japan " wtf thats only if u are an stupid poor nintendo fan ,because the video games per-se were invented on america ,unless the japanese invited the odyssey which never happened.

  • yeah he is a nintenturd

  • America invented video games and reigned over the business for the First Age, which fell apart and came COMPLETELY to an end in 1983. Shortly thereafter, the industry was revived primarily by Japanese imports. The industry that's still around today grows from THAT re-start, not the earlier start from U.S. based entities.
