It was his administration that tore apart several government programs most, not all, but most of which were needed to help the country function. With massive deregulation, tax cuts, and the borrowing of free capital, this led us to ecconomic free fall in 1988. This is very similar to what Bush's policies were and look where that got us.

Now I am not trying to be offensive in any way but my personal views as to why this economic mess started goes back to the 1980s with the Regan Administration. It was his administration that tore apart several government programs most, not all, but most of which were needed to help the country function. With massive deregulation, tax cuts, and the borrowing of free capital, this led us to ecconomic free fall in 1988. This is very similar to what Bush's policies were and look where that got us.

I think that you can't spend your way out of a recession, and that the government has never created a job or an economic boom. Expect more Clinton type policies, saying one thing during the election and then more conservative policies after taking office, i.e. extending the Bush tax cuts. Obama is NOT STUPID. Dodd got a favorable mortgage from one of the companies he was supposed to be watching and taxpayers have bailed out. I respectfully disagree. I think what got us in this mess was the "inside the beltway crowd". They all talk in an echo chamber. They all go to the saame places and live in the same areas. They alway get their paychecks if they work for the government. How could they pretend to understand the average taxpayer and how they might feel? I liked Palin, she was a breath of fresh air from someplace other than Washington. All that comes from there is spin and hot air.

Hey Obama, glad you'll be doing something about this crisis, but after reading all these comments, I think I like what that guy said about "wake me when DC sacrifices." This is all interconnected. Ending the War in Iraq in a stable way will reduce the financial load on our gov enough to let us help our economy. Depending less on oil is an inevitable fact we need to face - and one of the main reasons is, if we don't, the strength of our MILITARY will suffer, thus our global power.
