  • it's easier to do stick shots with a traditional grip. just some advice.

  • Hey, love the playing, and the sound you produce from the kit. A couple months ago i saw jazz drummer Dana Hall with Earthtone heads. whenever you get a chance check out my page, and let me know what you think!

  • That set sounds amazing

  • That technique. If you ever get a chance to see him live with eric and chris, do NOT miss it.

  • Baby coughing at 2:00.

  • who made the drums you're playing in this video? and what sizes? thanks

  • what is that sound at 1:57 that happens like three times, like a kid coughing

  • also that ride sounds so heavy in weight and awsome.

  • It sometimes may not sound or look so hard but it requires EXTREME coordination!

And yes a matched grip, how about that.

  • Wow, I haven't seen too many jazz drummers use a matched grip on their sticks.

I guess what ever is comfortable works, and it definitely works for him!

    GREAT Drummer!

  • That is arguably the best drum set I have ever heard. The cymbals are fantastic as well.

The drummer is even better though.

  • beautiful.

  • man! thanks for bring old masters back to life...great vintage old sound too...good luck with your dvd!

  • awsome man continue like this you are a great drummer Good luck from a Drummer in colombia

  • id like to see him use the cymbals a bit more

  • Damn!! Your Good!!

  • Do NOT do business with Bearing Edge drum company. The founder walked off with a lot of peoples' money, and has reopened under a new name. Rumored to be a meth-head and unreliable.

  • Tight! Nicely done.

  • Cant say I heard the styles indefinitely, but really awesome playing definitely.

  • i love it.

  • Who makes that drum set? Great vid!

  • Swing batta battaaaah! love it!

  • VERY NICE SOLO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)

  • The wood makes the great sound.

  • A perfect example of how to play with French grip! Your playing is awesome and you make it look so fluid and relaxed. I hope that by the time I'm 100, I might be half as good!! By the way, are those Craviotto drums?

  • A tip to all you drummers with a million drums... Try and sound this good...

  • Wow. You are my hero. I loved that.

  • congratulations

  • congratulations

  • Such a simple drum kit yet great performance.

  • what heads are you using? They probably account for half of that great sound

  • @imakery Earthtone heads. They are real calf skin....awesome!

  • @imakery the other half of that sound is the auditorium hes in. that space alone makes any drum set sound incredible. great video musicforya! very inspiring

  • That is one classy drum set I must say, and you have got to love his doubble-strokes!

  • that is some quite naughty doubble-strokes on the snare.

  • Awesome playing! Great set too!

  • You will big some day and everyone will know you world wide. Your brain is wired for jazz. Nice job.

  • The drum kit becomes a melodic instrument. This isn't just a drum solo, this is an entire song. All I'd want to hear.

  • that drum set has an interesting sound

  • Amazing playing. But plz, learn 2 traditional.

  • ron paul ftw

  • @rgvhen you dont have to play jazz with traditional grip. The jazz greats played like that because thats just how they were taught when they were young

  • I'm blown away

    such feel and taste

  • wow sick kit dude

  • open those hi hats up man

    if you gonna do blakey

  • This guy has a really nice feel; wish I had something similar! But didn't hear much of Roy Haynes or Tony Williams in this. Elvin was only mildly emulated. But his Blakey was pretty reminiscent.

Definitely not a master of impressions... yet!

  • those drums are beautiful and sound amazing what are they sjc, c+c, ocdp ???

  • friend this is good stuff.

  • Wow sounds like some Old Joe Morello from the Dave Brubeck Quartet SWEET MAN!! AWESOME JOB!!

  • Absolutely fantastic!! I am so glad you posted this. I been studying the great drums solos but it has been difficult with it being in black and white. Watching you doing it and in color is stupendous.

  • Real!

  • Those drums are amazing, your really good man!.

  • AWESOME! What drums are those?

  • Drumming in the pure hard bop tradition, great. Terrific cymbals, sound like old K's.

  • Eargasm.

I have nothing else to say.

  • Stunningly amazing! Beautiful Drums, great cymbal sound, and fabulous playing. Well Done. Post some more.

  • One of the best drum solos I've heard on 'You-Tube!'

  • 'You make it look easy.---Like Frankie Dunlop!'

    ---Sounds great!

  • Nice wood rims!

    Great 4 piece!

    ...Bravo!

  • Pretty amazing - well done!

  • Just Great man !!!

  • Impressive finger rolls. Beautiful kit by the way.

    I like your style.

  • Nice playing. Fine sounding kit. Are those calfskin heads you're playing? If so, are they hard to keep in tune?

  • Thanks. The heads are calfskin....made by Earthtone....fantastic. I haven't had any trouble keeping them in tune.

  • Thanks. The kit is custom made maple with bubinga....solid brass hardware. Made by Bearing Edge drum company who stopped making drums a few years ago. Cymbals are Spizzichino, 22 on left, 23 on right.

  • thats what im fuckin talkin about man.

  • WOW, you are one hell of a drummer
