No hay duda que es un excelente pianista con una tecnica maravilosa, pero es espantoso lo que hicieron con una pieza de tan bella magnitud como Rondo a la Turka , de Mozart, no se quien hizo ese arreglo, pero fue de muy mal gusto.
Either the piano or the recording is a bit tinny, but the technique is quite fantastic... I think this performance lacks a certain charm, Volodos puts a bit more character into it, this sounds like an etdue and has no emotion in it. But what do I know, I can barely play Mary had a little lamb :-P
How hard is this piece compared to something like say Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement... cause this is probably my favorite version of turkish march I've ever heard.
This piece is not comparable to Moonlight Sonata at all. It would be easier to play all 32 Beethoven sonatas. I really can not understand how this can be played. Simply amazing.
Mistakes? Who cares. Music and "virtuosity" aren´t only precise sequence of notes. We should remember mostly the general impression. Btw we are not barrel-organs to play without mistakes. Generally this is the worst thing which piano competitons a basic piano teachers can bring us: NO mistakes and in their version it naturally means LESS of music.
excellent performance, this guy uses the piano harmony so good, fuckin' genius. i like the czardas transcription for piano that storm done, incredible.
I am sorry, I dunno who sent this message on behalf of me. Of course, Mozart is a Genius!!! but I believe Mozart would roll over in his grave(!) if he'd seen that stupid video. (this message is a reply to nerdyal)
I am from the Czech Republic and Petrof is a Czech company, so I play them very often and I have one at home. As for me, modern Petrofs and Yamahas are similar, but the sound of Petrof is rounder and full - better for romantic period. But Steinway is Steinway:-)
By the way i prefer yamahas, i find besondorf and stainway to much ''bloqued'', has yamaha and some kaways have bright sound, and they are not hard or either very sensible to play.
I detest Yamahas. They are designed as Jazz pianos, and sound a bit too bright when used for Classical music. Steinway Haus is fair, though they have dropped in quality over the past 50 years, and can only sell thei Grand's to high in price off of reputation. (the best Steinway's were created in 1920-1950)Personally, I find the Bösendorfer grand pianos to be, by far, the greatest pianos made now, although I would not say no to a Bechstein.
I dislike the sound of the piano, it's sounds hollow. Anyway, indeed it is well played but sounds different than the real version of volodos, the latter put more feelings on what he plays.

I don't like any Yamaha instrument either. To me their tone is very weak and mellow, even for jazz. I don't think they care very much for tone.

kapayazi808 4 years ago
His doesn't sing it, it's like he's playing on a electric piano. His technique is good but he plays a mistake at 48-49 sec.

5 stars too. I like the brighter timbre of yamaha anyway.

It's probably because it's Yamaha and not a Steinway Grand!
Either way I'd still take the Yamaha Grand over nothing!
