Ohh i knew ww2 started on septemember 1939 :D My teachessaid i was wrong so they got someone to check on the computer and it was right haha! Then they were like yeah thats about right and i was like wtf?

  • I was lucky. I was evacuated from Deal in Kent, to Sturminster Newton in Dorset. I lived with my Aunt Cissie Inkpen in Sturminster on the Hinton St Mary road.

I was fortunate and had a wonderful time for four years, but many children were treated little better than slaves by their adult minders in various parts of England.

Some were never seen again, and many who were evacuated to Canada never returned at the end of the war.

  • Only one criticism to make; In railway terms, there are too many historical inaccuracies e.g. the carriages are BR Mark 1's albeit such vehicles were built in the 1950s.

  • @Eddy2730 its more of an experience not a full body historical reanactment

  • good grief, theyre only going away for 2 weeks, they know what they let themselves in for when they signed up, in real life some children were sent away, got treated badly and never saw their parents again..

love the teacher though, shes such a good actress lol id be very afraid

  • series 1 is better. the manor house one is a bit rubbish.

  • Was the lady giving out the identity card the one who played Aunt Bette in 2 Point 4 Children?

  • I was one of those kids in 1939. We went from Liverpool St. Station, London, to Newmarket, Suffolk.

  • What was life like as an evacuee? Were you made to feel welcome in your new home?

  • wow so was my grandad he went to the countryside so hes told me a lot about it.
