Good question. The principles explained in this clip still apply, i.e 30 second time frame; 2 rules of self defence; steering-wheel lock principle; universal value of movement; the need to be different, i.e don't box a boxer, etc. As for physical techniques; you must focus on gross-motor skills (low kicks, elbows, etc). Other strategies, such as enfilading, will also help and are explained in my book, but the fact is most people totally under-estimate how difficult multiple defence really is.
Thank you. Have taken martial arts for many years and some key things pointed out are practiced particularly in some high level chinese arts. Again thank you.
The newsreaders moves are quality LOL thanks for the xideo this is just a little snippet it isnt a system so people should get the book if they want to learn more
I trained with Rob twice in Holland, where he was invited to teach his PATS system for the police academies. After that I did PATS again with Brani Tudjan btw. Great system, very nice guy. Although I think PATS (like it was called back then) is great, Rob's translation of the PATS principles to everyday's life and cooperative business, is maybe even better. Would love to work with him again.
I love you D:, you make martial arts less flashy and strip it down to its core necessities which in my opinion is where it makes most sense. You must have trained very hard to be so responsive and methodical in your self defense, wish i had the opportunity to learn more from you.
Very sensible straight forward advice. I teach self-defence on very similar lines. But it is amazing how often people actually want something more complicated with less substance.
Great advice! The nervous system can work against people; trained or not. One of my teachers commented on the concept of brain blink. In security, we use it often to 1) grab attention to our direction (hence, witnesses for liability) and 2) distract them for a second so that we can apply something to neutralize the situation. Excellent advice!
sounds like a smart enough guy. good advice on the movement - I would tend to stand too stationary, but I aint slapping no fucker on the leg!! That is Gay as!
Some years ago I participated in a training conducted by Redenbach here in Holland, called PATS. Later I did the same training again with Brani Tudjan, also in Holland. Great concept. Believe me, Redenbach knows his stuff!!
Very good information here!! Love the verbal assault in the face of the aggressor. Cops for years have practiced the command voice and for good reason, it works!
That presenter is as tough as a wet noodle
