there was no reason to kill the innocent snake...it was probably just strolling around and got lost. such a waste of nature and life...sides it wouldent have attacked anyway. unless agitaited.

I have just gotten back from fieldwork in that area. there are about 100 pythons and they have killed and eaten more than 300 goats and other animals, for most people the only source of food there (not to mention that livestock is the pokot's most important asset and source of livelihood), considering one of the worst droughts in the history of that region. you'd do the same to that snake if it was eating all you had. don't be so naive.

A snake that size would probably last at least several months with a meal like that. So either the villagers are largely exaggerating things, or they've got a larger snake problem than they thought.

@tinykicksass i agree about that, in 6 months a snake that size would would only eat once every 1-2 months at maximum...so that would be 3-6 goats...so 194 or so goats are unaccounted for if we take anyone from kenya seriously....
