Taylor Swift is not a copycat. This song is about a girl who is jealous of this other girl because she is popular and gets what she wants

You Belong With Me is a love song about this shy and quiet girlk who likes this guy and the've been friends a while and he's dating this mean chick who is just ...well....a b word and taylor is telling him he belongs with her two different songs the only thing different is like the cheerleader part...

I think they are just similar,but maybe the song inspired Taylor Swift or either she may have heard the song and subconsciously copied it(which can easily happen) and not have realized it.

she wrote this when she heard her friend on the phone with his girlfriend, when she was in HIGH SCHOOL. she said it.
