@SonicElectronixTV Absolute PDEB12BK (Black/Black) Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D Kicker CVX124 (10CVX124) ??? TRYING TO GET THIS SYSTEM, WOULD THIS SYSTEM SOUND NICE LOUD?? OR SHOULD I GET A SEALED BOX INSTEAD??
@SonicElectronixTV Absolute PDEB12BK (Black/Black) Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D Kicker CVX124 (10CVX124) ??? TRYING TO GET THIS SYSTEM, WOULD THIS SYSTEM SOUND NICE LOUD?? OR SHOULD I GET A SEALED BOX INSTEAD??
@SonicElectronixTV Hey sonic how efficient is the Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200.1D amplifiers ? will they draw less current on my stock alt and batt ? need to power my 2 12 CVR's in a 4 cu ft ported box @ 32hz
@sbarnett80 Sony xplod amps and subs are weak and they over rate their subs and amps....they only disply MAX power ratings....If I were you I would go on ebay or sonicelectronix and get either the Kenwood KAC-9105D or the Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200.1D amp...both of these amps are true to their RMS ratings and will power that L7 quite nicely...and they are both efficient.
@Sonicelectronixtv Would 2 JL AUDIO 12W1v2-4, AMP HIFONICS HFI HFI1000.1D AMPLIFIER WOULD THIS SYSTEM HIT HARDER THEN ONE KICKER 10CVX124 12INCH SPEAKER??
i have a performance teknique 3000 watt mono amp class d....nd im pushing 2 S12L7 at 2 ohm each....is that over powering them? and so for them heating is normal?but also when im driving it smells kinda weird in the car is dat bad?
@1rodolfo3sur This will not work with a 3 Channel amp. It is more common to use a 2 or single channel amplifier for subwoofers. This amp will not have enough power per channel to support these subwoofers. Which amplifier brand and model is this amp?
alright so i went and bought another L7 but now im wondering if im over powering them? its an 3000 amp and im running the L7 at 2 ohm...today i just tested them out nd i touched the back of the sub it it was pretty warm... is that a bad sign?
@Klave620 Please specify exactly which amp you are running you amplifier with in order for us to tell if they are drastically overpowered. If you play any subwoofer for an extended period of time there is going to be some heat presence. However, if it is heating up very quickly then there could be an issue.
Hi I have a kicker L7 10" and I was wondering, would a Kenwood KAC-9105D 1800watt max amp be too much to power this? Here are its power outputs (RMS):
@SonicElectronixTV Hey I Just Order 2 12" solo classic subwoofers the loaded enclosure terminal says 4 ohm... I was wondering which would be the best amp to run them on ?
hey i need help... i have an s12L7 and a kicker cvx in a silverado 05...im using a performance teknique 3000W – Digital Monoblock Power Amplifier...should i run the subs in series or parallel?
@Klave620 It would not be recommended to run 2 different subwoofers off one amplifier. They have different power handling and may have different impedances. We would recommend either running a 2nd amp and run 1 subwoofer on each amp or get a secondary L7 or CVX.
okay i need help i have a 1983 Cadillac Seville and i have a 12w7 in abd i posted that sub on clist and i got a guy who wanted to trade me mu sub for his DC audio level 4 XL 18in in a custom box but am really wanting kicker l7s 12s or 15s ether way i go i am putting them on a 1000rms Alpine mpr amp witch one would be better the kickers or the one DC like i said both wood be on a 1000rms Alpine amp
@mohrpimpin Honestly, DC audio makes some high quality subwoofers. We would say that the 4XL will give you a much higher bass output then the l7's. However, they are both good woofers and you wont be disappointed either way.
@SonicElectronixTV I got 12" L7 in sealed box at the moment, was thinking of making it vented but then again i get space issues. But it still gives quite alot bass output even in sealed box. My amp is Spl dynamics ICE-1500D @2ohms 980w rms so i guess its pretty good for that L7, right?
Any suggestions what kind of box i should make for this woofer to be loud and accurate?
@ronniethepoodle This is definatly a good set up for an L7. You might want to consider putting polyfil in the box or get a bigger sealed box all together. Also, you could consider a different amplifier such as the IX1000.1.
@SonicElectronixTV i build a new box for my l7 and it is LOUD even tho its smallest recommended box :S and yeah i would love to have kicker amp but their kinda expensive and out of my budget at the moment but maybe in future ill get better amps. My spl dymamics gives 980w rms rated and they are cheapish but still reliable used in competitions so ill stick with that as long as i'm gonna build bigger system
@TheTaroTalkTime It really depends on which kind of sound you are looking for. If you are looking for more overall bass output, then we would recommend the l7. If you lean more towards sound quality then we would consider the t2.
@SonicElectronixTV I got a 2000 chevy cavalier with this system 1000W Complete Hifonics + Kicker Bass Package. system sounds nice i need something that will hit louder and harder what speaker would you recommend??? another CVX SPEAKER or some other kind of speaker
@SonicElectronixTV I got a 2000 chevy cavalier with this system 1000W Complete Hifonics + Kicker Bass Package. system sounds nice i need something that will hit louder and harder what speaker would you recommend??? another CVX SPEAKER or some other kind of speaker
@TINYLOWKS If you want more bass get the JL Audio W7, Rockford Fosgate T2, or RE Audio SXX. Any of those woofers will hit harder and you wont need to get a bigger amp. If you go with two CVX subs you will need a stronger amp, something like the Hifonics Brutuz BRZ1700.1D
@superevilone The orion HCCA is a competition grade woofer whereas the L7 is not. The orion HCCA will handle a lot more power then the L7. The HCCA would be better compared to the Kicker Solo X which is Kickers take on a Competition grade sub woofer.
@superevilone If you are looking for sound quality, then it can be argued that a circle will have better sound quality then a square. However, another factor to consider is the type of enclosure you currently have. Ported is used for high bass output and sealed is ussually made for more of sound quality. An Orion HCCA will probably sound cleanest in a sealed box.
@TINYLOWKS Both will sound amazing, the Kicker subs will be a bit louder because they can handle a little more than the P3s. In my personal opinion however I would go with the P3 subs over the Kicker CVX subs. I think the Rockford Fosgate subs are punchier and a bit more precise. However it is all about preference and you honestly can't go wrong with either choice.
@zorhis1996 Depends on the woofers, the car, how much you want to spend, how much bass you really want. 2 15"s is louder than 2 12"s but depending on the woofer might require ticker power gauge. 4 12"s would be super loud depending on the woofers but take up a lot of space. If you can get more specific as to what you are looking for we can provide a lot of options.
@SonicElectronixTV well i was thinking L3 or L7 and i was thinking 2 15"and 2 12" because 2 for low bass and 2 for higher bass , but if 12"can hit high and low easy , like can i have 4 12" and make 2 hit lower and tow hit higher or should or should i go with 2 15" and 2 12" ?
So its a 1500 watt 750 rms Subwoofer, but with 30% more surface area it will put more output? exactly how many watts you think it wil put then the rated 1500 watts?
@TINYLOWKS Usually products that are blown don't typically have a warranty, with most companies the warranty becomes void when they feel that the product stopped working due to improper use. With blown subwoofers 9 times out of 10 they blow because they were not properly installed or the amp setting were set wrong. It is hard to say since each company has a different set of policies for different situations. I would say call the companies and see what they can do for you. Good luck
@mackoneboy The L7 will have a higher power handling than the CVR and will have a lower frequency response. The CVR will cover more surface area and because of this will sound louder but the 12" L7 in my opinion will sound better. It will be just as loud and a bit more precise. If you are debating between the two go with the L7.
@mackoneboy The CVR's should be a decently louder due to the increased surface area, but it may be tough to fit all 4 subs w/ the proper sized enclosure.
@TINYLOWKS We are sorry to hear about your system. Since you have both Hifonics and Kicker products both of these products have a manufactures warranty. We would suggest calling the company of the component that you are having problems with and have them warranty it for you. If you have a hard time with them contact us at 1877-289-7664 and we will see what we can do for you.
hey sonic i wanna buy 2 15 " cvx's from your website and i want the 2 ohm models,i also want my final impedance to be 2 ohms. Can i do this with a one channel amp such as a hifonics brutus 1700.1 and if so will i have to have more than one terminal on the box or will it only matter how i wire the voice coils???i just want to make sure im not going to run at anything lower than 1ohm..i hope i explained this properly and thank you for your time...
Now, is this the newer verson of the L7 (11S12L74) or the one previous to it (08S12L74)? I'm not quite sure which one I want yet, and depending on which one I get, I might get 2 of them.
@iTzDifficult The on the video is the older 2008 model. The newer one is darker, has a darker backplate and also as "L7" printed on the bottom of the woofer cone. Go with the new ones they are the same price as the old ones. I think the new ones look better and they sound better because upgraded materials have been used to improve sound reproduction.
dear sonic im looking for a head turning system, something that will make people stare at me and I'll be heard from blocks away. you think 2 l7's can do the job ? I hope they have good sq too besides spl. thank you. please help. I want to be heard from far away seriously. I want people to feel the bass if im far away from them.
@KingBre99 If you go with two 15" L7's heck yeah that will be loud. Keep in mind that with a system like this you will have to get some additional batteries. upgrade your alternator, and you will need 0 gauge power and ground wire. If you really want to be heard go bigger on the subs, something like 2 Orions HCCA subs or Cerwin-Vega Stroker series subswoofer. If you want a little more SQ go with a round woofer.
so what do you recommend ? ( pls send me a link from the sonic web ) I want something that when Im in the car playing the audio, people feel me shaking their house from the inside ( seriously speaking ) Yes I want to be heard, so please recommend me the sub/s and amp ! thanks sonic
@KingBre99 Go with two Orion HCCA152 subwoofers, they are rated at 2000W RMS each. Then purchase two of the Massive Audio N4 car amplifiers. You are going to have to wire each sub to each amp to a final impedance of 1 ohm. With woofers this strong you will need to have a custom enclosure made, any regular enclosure will be torn to shreds. If you want to be heard this is the way to go.
@TMduncan70 You can go with the Rockford Fosgate R1000-1D, Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D, Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D or the Kicker DX1000.1. Any of these amps would be a great choice for One Kicker L7 at a final impedance of two ohms.
Help please i've been looking at a 12 or 15 in sub for a 300m i think i want to go with a l7 powered by a hifonics brutus brz1200.1d but i was wondering if anyone has another setup you think i should go for i have around 700 to get a sub and an amp.
@RichandRyanXposed That would be a good set up, it will be loud but still accurate and precise. Another option would be the Rockford Fosgate T2D415 with the BRZ1700.1D. This will also be loud and precise but will give you a little more output than the Kicker L7. Either way we recommend doing a Big 3 upgrade and a battery upgrade with that much power. 0 gauge wiring is also recommended when you start dealing with higher power outputs.
HELP PLEASE !! ANYONE KNOWS IF I CAN USE THIS SUBWOOFER IN HOUSE? IM THINKING TO BUY A PAIR OF THEM BUT IM NOT SURE IF I CAN GET A GOOD EXTREME BASS, I´LL APRECCIATE THE HELP THANKS A LOT. Sorry for my broken english.
@TINYLOWKS Which harness are you referring to? If you are looking to install an after market head-unit you will the Scosche GMOS210. If you don't have Onstar go with the Scosche GM09SBR. These are harness to connect an after market radio, if you are looking for the OEM harness you will have to contact Chevy to see if they sell the original harness.
@DGAFyourTHOUGHTS Go with the Rockford Fosgate P3SD412, it is small enough to fit under the seat but still loud enough to give you a good amount of bass. Or you can even go with the Earthquake Sound SWS-10X, it will also fit under the seat but it will provide a little less bass than the Rockford sub but still deliver a nice crisp, clean bass.
@Bigoso310sb Honestly not too many changes have been made from the 2008 model to the 2011 model. The new L7 have better components that will make the woofer tougher and more durable. Also the use of better materials will make it more efficient. If you with a model older than 2008 you will be downgrading a lot and would recommend a newer model. However between the 2011 and 2008 model, power output is the same but the newer ones are slightly more efficient.

@TINYLOWKS If you are referring to the Kicker and Massive Audio combo, the woofers are Dual 4 ohm woofers. You will have to wire them together in parallel/parallel, that is to say wiring the voice coils in parallel and then the woofers in parallel, to a final impedance of 1 ohm.
@TINYLOWKS This particular subwoofer is a dual 4 ohm subwoofer. If you only have one it will wire down to a final impedance of 2 ohms when wired in series. The L7 also comes in a dual 2 ohm version that can be wired to a final impedance of 1 ohm in parallel or 2 ohms when wired in series. Once you have your final impedance that will help you select a better amplifier for the subwoofer.

@sonicelectronixtv found this lil combo on your page 2000w kicker +massive audio bass bundle was woundering how many rms are this speakers getting ? What would be a great box for this ? Is the amp puting enough rms on to each speaker to make them funcation correct ?
@TINYLOWKS In this particular bass package, the amplifier will produce 900 watts RMS to each 1000 watt subwoofer. This is more than enough to properly power the Kicker CVX154 subwoofers. The Sonic Sub Box 2SV15 would be a fantastic option for enclosing the subwoofers. The box is ported/vented for maximum bass output, and each chamber is 2 cubic feet. Just be sure the enclosures dimensions will fit in your location before purchasing.
@living4theonly1 Everything really comes down to how much space you have to work with. You will need to find out the maximum size enclosure you can fit in your location, and research each size L7 to figure out what the best option would be. Do you know how much room you have for an enclosure? Typically 8" or 10" L7's are commonly found in pickup trucks.
@SonicElectronixTV FOUND THIS NICE LITTLE COMBO ON YOUR PAGE 2000W Kicker + Massive Audio Bass Bundle WILL THIS AMP BE ENOUGH TO MAKE BOTH SUBWOOFER FUNCTION PROPERLY? DOES IT PUT ENOUGH RMS ON TO EACH ONE? HOW WOULD I HAVE TO WIRE THEM DOWN TO ?? AND WHAT IS A GOOD BOX FOR THIS???THANK YOU

@TINYLOWKS The Massive Audio N3 amplifier will output 700 watts RMS to each subwoofer. This will be enough for the subwoofer to function properly. The Massive Auido N3 amplifier is a solid amplifier and we highly recommended it.
@SonicElectronixTV WITCH AMP WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TO RUN 2 12' KICKER CVX OUT OF THE ONES YOU JUST HAD LISTED?? Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D, Polk Audio PA1200.1, MTX RLF1200D, Massive Audio N3, or the Orion XTR15001 ? AND I WOULD HAVE TO WIRE THEM DOWN TO 1 OHM CORRECT??
@TINYLOWKS Out the of the amplifiers I listed I would say the Massive Audio would be my first choice, then Polk, Orion, MTX, and finally the BRZ. Yes you will have to wire the subwoofer together to a final impedance of 1 ohm. This means wiring the voice coils in parallel and then the speakers in parallel.
I want to get one of these to replace my 2010 kicker comp 12 inch in my room.
My comp has a rear vent in the magnet, 360 degree back bracing vents also.
I had to make my enclosure 2-3 inches wider, which costed me some important space. So I would love to have one of these in a custom enclosure, without having to add any further measurements to the top mounting depth.
@Dawgkid133 The best solution would be to follow the manufacture's instructions on enclosure dimensions that best suit this particular subwoofer. If you follow the instructions you will get the best possible sound for this subwoofer. The top mounting depth is 6-11/16" that should give you an idea of how much space you are going to need, cutout dimensions are 11-1/16" x 11-1/16".
@DorckWoW yeah definitely, just get the Dual 2 ohm version and wire them together to a final impedance of 2 ohms. Your required power total will be 1500 and the amplifier will provide 14000, meaning each sub gets 700W RMS. This would be a good set-up and cost efficient.
@DorckWoW Actually no they wont. Each subwoofer requires 750W for a total of 1500W RMS. If you go with the JL HD1200/1 for instance, at 2 ohms you will have 1200 watts. When wiring the subwoofers together to a final impedance of 2 ohms and then running them on the amplifier at 2 ohms each subwoofer will receive 600 watts RMS. So really you will under-powering but at least at a safe level.
@DorckWoW If you want to run them at 4 ohms final impedance then you have 4 options, Kicker ZX2500.1, JlL Audio HD1200/1, Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP, or the MTX Thunder Elite 4001D. You might want to consider running them at 2 ohms, you will have more amp options and spent a lot less. Also don't get a capacitor upgrade your battery. The XS Power D1200 should be sufficient enough. With that much power it is wiser to upgrade your battery.
@TINYLOWKS Two CVX subs are no joke and require a good amount of power. I would recommend the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D, Polk Audio PA1200.1, MTX RLF1200D, Massive Audio N3, or the Orion XTR15001. Any of these amps would be a great choice. If you want bass go with a ported enclosure like the Absolute PDEB12BK, this will allows the subs to hit really low frequencies and give you a more resonant bass response.
Aint this box for 2 12' subwoofers?? Sonic Sub Box: 2SV10 (Black). I Think i'm i go with the kicker cvx.. how would i have to hook them up to make it a final indepence of 1 ohm like you had said to do with Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D. amp. .
@TINYLOWKS Honestly this is personal preference. The L7's will take up some more room but will give you deeper bass because of the square design. I am a bigger fan of round subwoofers than square subwoofers because the response is usually tighter and quicker with round subwoofers. So you need to ask your self if you want more bass or tighter response. Once you figure out which one is more important to you it will much easier to just go with the L7 series or the CVX series.
@TINYLOWKS Based on previous post I am assuming you mean 2 10CVX124 subs, if this is the case a good amp would be the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D. You will run the subwoofers in parallel/parallel to a final impedance of 1 ohm. A good enclosure would be the Sonic Sub Box: 2SV10 (Black), this ported enclosure will let the subwoofers hit hard and loud. If you are planning on doing this be adviced to purchase 1/0 gauge wiring for installation due to the amount of total RMS.
@TINYLOWKS That is actually the correct way to wire a Dual 4 ohm subwoofer to a final impedance of 2 ohms. If you want a diagram go to our website and type in CVX124 and the select the wiring guide tab and you will see a number of wiring guides to suit your specific needs. But for now you have the single subwoofer wired correctly.
@TINYLOWKS If you got another 10CVX124 you could technically do this. I mean you would be underpowering each subwoofer but Kicker is known for being a great product. However I would not recommend this, the amplifier is already not giving you all of the rated RMS and if you under-power the subwoofers too much you can actually casue damage to the woofer which would then void any warranty. Just make if you do add another subwoofer that is a Dual 4 ohm sub so you can wire both of them to 1 ohm.
@tyler409tyler Kicker recommends a ported enclosure that is between 3 and 6 cubic feet. The most suitable enclosure we carry is the Absolute DKS15 with a total box volume of 5.71 cubic feet between both chambers. We however recommend getting a custom enclosure built for your application. 15" L7's are very powerful and if you use a pre-fabricated box, it will end up failing over a short amount of time. Be sure to use a minimum of 12awg speaker wire for your connections.
@tyler409tyler If you go to our website and type in "CVX124" you will see the subwoofer. On that page you will see a "Wiring Guide" tab, this tab will show you how to wire numerous subs to different amplifiers. Just select 2 subs + mono amp, option 2. This will show you how to wire those two subwoofers to a final impedance of 1 ohm on a monoblock amplifier.
would it be alright if I put the 2011 Kicker L7 12" in a 3 cubic foot ported box instead of 2 like its recommended ? will it play the lows alot better and lower ???
@SubZeroSkyLine The recommend ported enclosure size for the 12" L7 is 1.25 cubic feet to 2 cubic feet. We recommend going with a 2 cu ft box for the biggest bass output. Anything over and you can potentially damage the subwoofer quicker because there would be little to no back pressure to counter the subwoofer's movements.
What kind of amplifier do you recommend and will this fit under my seat or behind in my 2006 silverado Kicker 08VS10L72 Single 10" Vented Sub Enclosure Loaded with 1 Solo-Baric 10" L7 08S10L7 Subwoofer
@cleaningman94 I recommend the Kicker ZX500.1, MTX RFL600D, or the Kenwood KAC-8105D. Any of these amplifiers will work with the 08VS10L72. Now about it fitting in your car, honestly your best bet would be to measure the space available in your vehicle and try to figure out if it will fit or not. I don't believe it will fit under your seat but it might fit behind the passenger seat if you push it forward.
If i bought a 12 " L7 2011 model with a zx750.1 in a 2 cubic foot ported box would this hit really hard ? and btw im glad that the 2011 model of the 12" requires alot less air space cause my trunk is very small
@SubZeroSkyLine Yeah that would hit really hard, the ported enclosure will cause the subwoofer to produce a deeper bass giving you more SPL. Just make sure you purchase the Dual 4 ohm version of the subwoofer so you can wire it parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms and therefore get the most power out-of your amplifier. You will not be disappointed with this set-up good job an matching a perfect amp for that subwoofer.
@SonicElectronixTV Yea thanks sonic for the help. what is also the best way to tune an amplifier when you first get it ? i have been told turn the headunit up 75 % of the max volume then slowly turn gain up till you hear distortion...then bring 1/8 of it down until its clean again...but is there another way to tune ??
@SubZeroSkyLine No that is actually a pretty solid way to tune the amplifier. Just don't turn the gain too high, I know a lot of people out there want to turn the gain to the max but this will cause distortion and could potentially cause damage to the subwoofer. The way you mention on how to tune an amplifier is pretty safe and it allows you to set it to your liking.
@MultiPaksiw If you are talking about Rockford Fosgate's T1500.2DB amps than wow yeah they can easily push 2 15" Kicker L7. We would suggest going with the Dual 2 ohm versions and running them to 4 ohms each and each to one amp. This will give you the best sound and at 4 ohms it will give the cleanest sound because the amplifier will run more efficiently with less stress and heat.
yeah I have a 12" kicker L7 Solo-Baric and it has been used previously with low power, now that it was given to me in perfect shape I came up with a Powerbank P 1600.1 (1600W) max power amp, im worried about blowing the sub with this much power to only 1 12", should i be worried or will the subwoofer be able to handle the watts? thanks
@troy95436 You should be fine. Your amplifier outputs 1600W Max which translates to about 800 watts RMS, maybe less depending on the quality of the amplifier. The L7 can handle 750W RMS, so assuming that the amplifier is half decent it should at least output 700W RMS which will enough to safely run the Kicker L7. Max power and RMS power are two totally different things. If your amplifier was doing 1600W RMS then you would definitely not want to run your sub. In your case you should be fine.
@FanOfSubwoofers If you have 2 Dual 4 ohm subs you should go with the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D at a final impedance of 2 ohms. If you have 2 Dual 2 ohm subs you should go with the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D at a final impedamce 1 ohm. These amplifiers are affordable and CEA Compliant meaning you will be receiving the rated power each time.
I have a L7 10 inch, and I was wondering is a hifonics brutus 1200 watt enough to power it?

@SonicElectronixTV Hey sonic how efficient is the Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200.1D amplifiers ? will they draw less current on my stock alt and batt ? need to power my 2 12 CVR's in a 4 cu ft ported box @ 32hz
SubZeroSkyLine 1 month ago
@sbarnett80 Sony xplod amps and subs are weak and they over rate their subs and amps....they only disply MAX power ratings....If I were you I would go on ebay or sonicelectronix and get either the Kenwood KAC-9105D or the Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200.1D amp...both of these amps are true to their RMS ratings and will power that L7 quite nicely...and they are both efficient.

Hardly, even though it's all important, which Amp, Battery, Woofers, - but it's the enclosure design that makes the real difference.

1rodolfo3sur 2 months ago
@1rodolfo3sur This will not work with a 3 Channel amp. It is more common to use a 2 or single channel amplifier for subwoofers. This amp will not have enough power per channel to support these subwoofers. Which amplifier brand and model is this amp?
SonicElectronixTV 2 months ago
alright so i went and bought another L7 but now im wondering if im over powering them? its an 3000 amp and im running the L7 at 2 ohm...today i just tested them out nd i touched the back of the sub it it was pretty warm... is that a bad sign?
Klave620 2 months ago
@Klave620 Please specify exactly which amp you are running you amplifier with in order for us to tell if they are drastically overpowered. If you play any subwoofer for an extended period of time there is going to be some heat presence. However, if it is heating up very quickly then there could be an issue.

Klave620 2 months ago
@Klave620 It would not be recommended to run 2 different subwoofers off one amplifier. They have different power handling and may have different impedances. We would recommend either running a 2nd amp and run 1 subwoofer on each amp or get a secondary L7 or CVX.
SonicElectronixTV 2 months ago
okay i need help i have a 1983 Cadillac Seville and i have a 12w7 in abd i posted that sub on clist and i got a guy who wanted to trade me mu sub for his DC audio level 4 XL 18in in a custom box but am really wanting kicker l7s 12s or 15s ether way i go i am putting them on a 1000rms Alpine mpr amp witch one would be better the kickers or the one DC like i said both wood be on a 1000rms Alpine amp
mohrpimpin 3 months ago
@mohrpimpin Honestly, DC audio makes some high quality subwoofers. We would say that the 4XL will give you a much higher bass output then the l7's. However, they are both good woofers and you wont be disappointed either way.

@SonicElectronixTV I got 12" L7 in sealed box at the moment, was thinking of making it vented but then again i get space issues. But it still gives quite alot bass output even in sealed box. My amp is Spl dynamics ICE-1500D @2ohms 980w rms so i guess its pretty good for that L7, right?
Any suggestions what kind of box i should make for this woofer to be loud and accurate?
ronniethepoodle 3 months ago
@ronniethepoodle This is definatly a good set up for an L7. You might want to consider putting polyfil in the box or get a bigger sealed box all together. Also, you could consider a different amplifier such as the IX1000.1.
SonicElectronixTV 3 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV i build a new box for my l7 and it is LOUD even tho its smallest recommended box :S and yeah i would love to have kicker amp but their kinda expensive and out of my budget at the moment but maybe in future ill get better amps. My spl dymamics gives 980w rms rated and they are cheapish but still reliable used in competitions so ill stick with that as long as i'm gonna build bigger system

t2 or l7 please help!!!!!! having box custom made.
TheTaroTalkTime 3 months ago
@TheTaroTalkTime It really depends on which kind of sound you are looking for. If you are looking for more overall bass output, then we would recommend the l7. If you lean more towards sound quality then we would consider the t2.

@SonicElectronixTV how does the orion hcca 10'' compare to the kicker l7?
superevilone 3 months ago
@superevilone The orion HCCA is a competition grade woofer whereas the L7 is not. The orion HCCA will handle a lot more power then the L7. The HCCA would be better compared to the Kicker Solo X which is Kickers take on a Competition grade sub woofer.
SonicElectronixTV 3 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV well i currently am running 2 kicker l7 10's would 1 orion hcca 10 beat the 2 kickers on sound quality and bass?
superevilone 2 months ago
@superevilone If you are looking for sound quality, then it can be argued that a circle will have better sound quality then a square. However, another factor to consider is the type of enclosure you currently have. Ported is used for high bass output and sealed is ussually made for more of sound quality. An Orion HCCA will probably sound cleanest in a sealed box.

@SonicElectronixTV What would be a good set up this Rockford Fosgate P3-2X12 or two Kicker CVX124 with this Massive Audio N3 amp
TINYLOWKS 3 months ago
@TINYLOWKS Both will sound amazing, the Kicker subs will be a bit louder because they can handle a little more than the P3s. In my personal opinion however I would go with the P3 subs over the Kicker CVX subs. I think the Rockford Fosgate subs are punchier and a bit more precise. However it is all about preference and you honestly can't go wrong with either choice.

do u give out car sound system advice ? like im thinking of either getting 4 12" or 2 12" and 2 15" ? what do u think ?
zorhis1996 3 months ago
@zorhis1996 Depends on the woofers, the car, how much you want to spend, how much bass you really want. 2 15"s is louder than 2 12"s but depending on the woofer might require ticker power gauge. 4 12"s would be super loud depending on the woofers but take up a lot of space. If you can get more specific as to what you are looking for we can provide a lot of options.
SonicElectronixTV 3 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV well i was thinking L3 or L7 and i was thinking 2 15"and 2 12" because 2 for low bass and 2 for higher bass , but if 12"can hit high and low easy , like can i have 4 12" and make 2 hit lower and tow hit higher or should or should i go with 2 15" and 2 12" ?

@TINYLOWKS Usually products that are blown don't typically have a warranty, with most companies the warranty becomes void when they feel that the product stopped working due to improper use. With blown subwoofers 9 times out of 10 they blow because they were not properly installed or the amp setting were set wrong. It is hard to say since each company has a different set of policies for different situations. I would say call the companies and see what they can do for you. Good luck

@SonicElectronixTV Is the l7 12inch sub louder then the 15 cvr sub?
mackoneboy 4 months ago
@mackoneboy The L7 will have a higher power handling than the CVR and will have a lower frequency response. The CVR will cover more surface area and because of this will sound louder but the 12" L7 in my opinion will sound better. It will be just as loud and a bit more precise. If you are debating between the two go with the L7.

iTzDifficult 4 months ago

KingBre99 4 months ago
@KingBre99 If you go with two 15" L7's heck yeah that will be loud. Keep in mind that with a system like this you will have to get some additional batteries. upgrade your alternator, and you will need 0 gauge power and ground wire. If you really want to be heard go bigger on the subs, something like 2 Orions HCCA subs or Cerwin-Vega Stroker series subswoofer. If you want a little more SQ go with a round woofer.
SonicElectronixTV 4 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV
so what do you recommend ? ( pls send me a link from the sonic web ) I want something that when Im in the car playing the audio, people feel me shaking their house from the inside ( seriously speaking ) Yes I want to be heard, so please recommend me the sub/s and amp ! thanks sonic
KingBre99 4 months ago
@KingBre99 Go with two Orion HCCA152 subwoofers, they are rated at 2000W RMS each. Then purchase two of the Massive Audio N4 car amplifiers. You are going to have to wire each sub to each amp to a final impedance of 1 ohm. With woofers this strong you will need to have a custom enclosure made, any regular enclosure will be torn to shreds. If you want to be heard this is the way to go.

TMduncan70 5 months ago
@TMduncan70 You can go with the Rockford Fosgate R1000-1D, Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D, Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D or the Kicker DX1000.1. Any of these amps would be a great choice for One Kicker L7 at a final impedance of two ohms.

RichandRyanXposed 5 months ago
@RichandRyanXposed That would be a good set up, it will be loud but still accurate and precise. Another option would be the Rockford Fosgate T2D415 with the BRZ1700.1D. This will also be loud and precise but will give you a little more output than the Kicker L7. Either way we recommend doing a Big 3 upgrade and a battery upgrade with that much power. 0 gauge wiring is also recommended when you start dealing with higher power outputs.

Or you can even go with the Earthquake Sound SWS-10X, it will also fit under the seat but it will provide a little less bass than the Rockford sub but still deliver a nice crisp, clean bass.

would you recommend the new L7s or the older models
Bigoso310sb 5 months ago
@Bigoso310sb Honestly not too many changes have been made from the 2008 model to the 2011 model. The new L7 have better components that will make the woofer tougher and more durable. Also the use of better materials will make it more efficient. If you with a model older than 2008 you will be downgrading a lot and would recommend a newer model. However between the 2011 and 2008 model, power output is the same but the newer ones are slightly more efficient.

@sonicelectronixtv THAT'S HOW I WOULD HAVE TO WIRE DOWN THE KICKER CVX 15 BASS COMBO DOWN TO??
TINYLOWKS 6 months ago
@TINYLOWKS If you are referring to the Kicker and Massive Audio combo, the woofers are Dual 4 ohm woofers. You will have to wire them together in parallel/parallel, that is to say wiring the voice coils in parallel and then the woofers in parallel, to a final impedance of 1 ohm.
SonicElectronixTV 5 months ago
@sonicelectronixtv HOW WOULD I HAVE TO WIRE THIS SUB DOWN TO?
TINYLOWKS 6 months ago

TINYLOWKS 6 months ago
@TINYLOWKS In this particular bass package, the amplifier will produce 900 watts RMS to each 1000 watt subwoofer. This is more than enough to properly power the Kicker CVX154 subwoofers. The Sonic Sub Box 2SV15 would be a fantastic option for enclosing the subwoofers. The box is ported/vented for maximum bass output, and each chamber is 2 cubic feet. Just be sure the enclosures dimensions will fit in your location before purchasing.

how much is L7 now and how much space would it need to sound good because i am getting a tacoma and i need bass in it. what would you recomend?
living4theonly1 6 months ago
@living4theonly1 Everything really comes down to how much space you have to work with. You will need to find out the maximum size enclosure you can fit in your location, and research each size L7 to figure out what the best option would be. Do you know how much room you have for an enclosure? Typically 8" or 10" L7's are commonly found in pickup trucks.

TINYLOWKS 6 months ago

TINYLOWKS 6 months ago
@TINYLOWKS Out the of the amplifiers I listed I would say the Massive Audio would be my first choice, then Polk, Orion, MTX, and finally the BRZ. Yes you will have to wire the subwoofer together to a final impedance of 1 ohm. This means wiring the voice coils in parallel and then the speakers in parallel.
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
I want to get one of these to replace my 2010 kicker comp 12 inch in my room.
My comp has a rear vent in the magnet, 360 degree back bracing vents also.
I had to make my enclosure 2-3 inches wider, which costed me some important space. So I would love to have one of these in a custom enclosure, without having to add any further measurements to the top mounting depth.
Dawgkid133 6 months ago
@Dawgkid133 The best solution would be to follow the manufacture's instructions on enclosure dimensions that best suit this particular subwoofer. If you follow the instructions you will get the best possible sound for this subwoofer. The top mounting depth is 6-11/16" that should give you an idea of how much space you are going to need, cutout dimensions are 11-1/16" x 11-1/16".
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
also would a hifonics brutus 2100 watt amplfier be able to run these
DorckWoW 6 months ago
@DorckWoW yeah definitely, just get the Dual 2 ohm version and wire them together to a final impedance of 2 ohms. Your required power total will be 1500 and the amplifier will provide 14000, meaning each sub gets 700W RMS. This would be a good set-up and cost efficient.
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
but running at 2 ohms wont all those amplifier put too much power thorugh them?
DorckWoW 6 months ago
@DorckWoW Actually no they wont. Each subwoofer requires 750W for a total of 1500W RMS. If you go with the JL HD1200/1 for instance, at 2 ohms you will have 1200 watts. When wiring the subwoofers together to a final impedance of 2 ohms and then running them on the amplifier at 2 ohms each subwoofer will receive 600 watts RMS. So really you will under-powering but at least at a safe level.
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
Hey what would be a good amplifier and capacitor to run 2 L7 12' subwoofers? would be running them at 4 ohms
DorckWoW 6 months ago
@DorckWoW If you want to run them at 4 ohms final impedance then you have 4 options, Kicker ZX2500.1, JlL Audio HD1200/1, Rockford Fosgate T2500-1bdCP, or the MTX Thunder Elite 4001D. You might want to consider running them at 2 ohms, you will have more amp options and spent a lot less. Also don't get a capacitor upgrade your battery. The XS Power D1200 should be sufficient enough. With that much power it is wiser to upgrade your battery.
SonicElectronixTV 6 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV IM I GET 2 KICKER 10CVX124 12INCH WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD AMP FOR IT AND A GOOD BOX THAT WILL MAKE IT HEARD????
TINYLOWKS 6 months ago

Just make if you do add another subwoofer that is a Dual 4 ohm sub so you can wire both of them to 1 ohm.

i got a kicker 2011 L7 15 2ohm and a kicker zx2500.1 amp was wondering what size box is best for this sub?and what kind of wire to use?
tyler409tyler 7 months ago
@tyler409tyler Kicker recommends a ported enclosure that is between 3 and 6 cubic feet. The most suitable enclosure we carry is the Absolute DKS15 with a total box volume of 5.71 cubic feet between both chambers. We however recommend getting a custom enclosure built for your application. 15" L7's are very powerful and if you use a pre-fabricated box, it will end up failing over a short amount of time. Be sure to use a minimum of 12awg speaker wire for your connections.
SonicElectronixTV 7 months ago
@tyler409tyler If you go to our website and type in "CVX124" you will see the subwoofer. On that page you will see a "Wiring Guide" tab, this tab will show you how to wire numerous subs to different amplifiers. Just select 2 subs + mono amp, option 2. This will show you how to wire those two subwoofers to a final impedance of 1 ohm on a monoblock amplifier.

hello hey heard that the kicker l7 are good but dont last verry long wat do think n?
vielmas1 7 months ago
which one would be better? 2 12 kicker compVR's or one 12 kicker L7??
littleg42694 7 months ago
would it be alright if I put the 2011 Kicker L7 12" in a 3 cubic foot ported box instead of 2 like its recommended ? will it play the lows alot better and lower ???
SubZeroSkyLine 7 months ago
@SubZeroSkyLine The recommend ported enclosure size for the 12" L7 is 1.25 cubic feet to 2 cubic feet. We recommend going with a 2 cu ft box for the biggest bass output. Anything over and you can potentially damage the subwoofer quicker because there would be little to no back pressure to counter the subwoofer's movements.

What kind of amplifier do you recommend and will this fit under my seat or behind in my 2006 silverado Kicker 08VS10L72 Single 10" Vented Sub Enclosure Loaded with 1 Solo-Baric 10" L7 08S10L7 Subwoofer
cleaningman94 7 months ago
@cleaningman94 I recommend the Kicker ZX500.1, MTX RFL600D, or the Kenwood KAC-8105D. Any of these amplifiers will work with the 08VS10L72. Now about it fitting in your car, honestly your best bet would be to measure the space available in your vehicle and try to figure out if it will fit or not. I don't believe it will fit under your seat but it might fit behind the passenger seat if you push it forward.

How do i tune High and Low pass filter and Bass Boost
SubZeroSkyLine 7 months ago
If i bought a 12 " L7 2011 model with a zx750.1 in a 2 cubic foot ported box would this hit really hard ? and btw im glad that the 2011 model of the 12" requires alot less air space cause my trunk is very small
SubZeroSkyLine 7 months ago
@SubZeroSkyLine Yeah that would hit really hard, the ported enclosure will cause the subwoofer to produce a deeper bass giving you more SPL. Just make sure you purchase the Dual 4 ohm version of the subwoofer so you can wire it parallel to a final impedance of 2 ohms and therefore get the most power out-of your amplifier. You will not be disappointed with this set-up good job an matching a perfect amp for that subwoofer.
SonicElectronixTV 7 months ago
@SonicElectronixTV Yea thanks sonic for the help. what is also the best way to tune an amplifier when you first get it ? i have been told turn the headunit up 75 % of the max volume then slowly turn gain up till you hear distortion...then bring 1/8 of it down until its clean again...but is there another way to tune ??
SubZeroSkyLine 7 months ago
@SubZeroSkyLine No that is actually a pretty solid way to tune the amplifier. Just don't turn the gain too high, I know a lot of people out there want to turn the gain to the max but this will cause distortion and could potentially cause damage to the subwoofer. The way you mention on how to tune an amplifier is pretty safe and it allows you to set it to your liking.

i have 2 RF T1500.1bd amp ..can this 2 amps can push 2 15" L7?
nid some advice tnx..and wht wire should i used for them
MultiPaksiw 8 months ago
@MultiPaksiw If you are talking about Rockford Fosgate's T1500.2DB amps than wow yeah they can easily push 2 15" Kicker L7. We would suggest going with the Dual 2 ohm versions and running them to 4 ohms each and each to one amp. This will give you the best sound and at 4 ohms it will give the cleanest sound because the amplifier will run more efficiently with less stress and heat.
SonicElectronixTV 8 months ago
yeah I have a 12" kicker L7 Solo-Baric and it has been used previously with low power, now that it was given to me in perfect shape I came up with a Powerbank P 1600.1 (1600W) max power amp, im worried about blowing the sub with this much power to only 1 12", should i be worried or will the subwoofer be able to handle the watts? thanks
troy95436 8 months ago
@troy95436 You should be fine. Your amplifier outputs 1600W Max which translates to about 800 watts RMS, maybe less depending on the quality of the amplifier. The L7 can handle 750W RMS, so assuming that the amplifier is half decent it should at least output 700W RMS which will enough to safely run the Kicker L7. Max power and RMS power are two totally different things. If your amplifier was doing 1600W RMS then you would definitely not want to run your sub. In your case you should be fine.

what amp should i get to power these 2 12 kicker l7 something cheap thanks
FanOfSubwoofers 8 months ago
@FanOfSubwoofers If you have 2 Dual 4 ohm subs you should go with the Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100.1D at a final impedance of 2 ohms. If you have 2 Dual 2 ohm subs you should go with the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D at a final impedamce 1 ohm. These amplifiers are affordable and CEA Compliant meaning you will be receiving the rated power each time.
