I didn't think he was a "Layer Artist" (creates a sketch, colors it, uses the first sketch as the bottommost layer, sketches in another layer over the translucent color layer, lays down another color layer, uses that to thin out the previous layer, and so on). Sort of a cartoonists version of layered oil painting. Mixed media. It explains how he gets so much fine shaded and blended detail without destroying the lowest layers. I see why computer artists use this technique.

@aneadasda you are right but weirdly i had the same feeling: being nostalgic of traditional techniques, like in a time without computers painting softwares nor photoshop... Tools will give different "render" anyway, it's good to wander in both traditional and digital.
